00:00Now back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:19Kevin Burkhardt, Fox Sports.
00:21That was the first touchdown of the game by the Green Bay Packers.
00:24Put them up 7-0 after about a 7-minute drive to open the game.
00:29The 49ers went on to get beat 38-10 and you know, just a couple of things and you mentioned
00:36one.
00:37If they don't hold on the kickoff return to start the second half, that game may change.
00:42The 2-6-2 if Debo catches that ball yesterday.
00:45But that's been the story this season.
00:47If, if, if there have been so many plays throughout the year where had the 49ers made them, maybe
00:55things would be different.
00:56Right.
00:57But they haven't made any plays all year.
00:58They really haven't.
00:59Yeah.
01:00Now they're making mistakes.
01:01Now they're 5-6.
01:02And Guru, remember last week we threw out the question, what's going on with the Niners?
01:07And I said, if someone were to ask me what's going on with the Niners, they're just not
01:11together.
01:12And yesterday was their 11th game of the year and once again they just were the opposite
01:18of whatever cohesive is.
01:20They just can't put together a full game for whatever reason.
01:25Yeah.
01:26And the crazy thing about it, partner, is we do not know why.
01:29But what I do know is the Packers ran for 167 yards, Stiney, 87 of those in the first
01:36quarter.
01:37The Niners had 10 missed tackles in the first quarter.
01:41So I'm not trying to go skip Bayless or stir something up, but when you guys have the season
01:48right in front of you, you're 5-5 is a defense led by Fred Warner.
01:54Where does the 10 tackles signal to you?
01:5610 missed tackles.
01:57I said, Stiney, I go back to the Minnesota game, Mooney Ward, God bless his soul, taking
02:02care of his family.
02:04But he talked about how he was being used and he didn't like it.
02:07That's what I got from it.
02:08So when I come to you, are you just, I'm asking, gonna say it was cold weather so 10 missed
02:14tackles is okay?
02:15Because now this team is playing out of character and it's starting to play like a team that
02:20is not listening to their coach or can give a damn.
02:24Well that's where I disagree.
02:26When you say now this team's playing out of character, I think they've played out of character
02:31all season.
02:33All season long.
02:35And here's the way I look at it, is yesterday's game was atrocious.
02:41And yes, yesterday's game they played without Purdy.
02:44They played without Bosa.
02:46They played without Trent Williams.
02:48Every team has a story.
02:50They absolutely got blown out.
02:53And so yeah, you can say, well we were missing a ton of guys yesterday.
02:59But what about the first 10 games when you were 5-5?
03:03See that's the problem.
03:05If this thing starts to really go downhill, and some people would say it already has,
03:11if you want to blame injuries, I think that's very, very dangerous.
03:16Because if you told me right now they could bring back the same team and everybody's health
03:19healthy, I wouldn't do it.
03:21I wouldn't do it.
03:22But I don't think this team has it anymore.
03:27They haven't proven it.
03:28But what are your options though, Stoney?
03:29And I know Purdy's one of them, but...
03:30To start to retool.
03:32That's what the options are.
03:34But how long is that going to take?
03:36I don't care how long it takes.
03:38Is it scarier than the way they're playing right now?
03:40Well if they're not playing up to par, which we don't know why they're underperforming,
03:44but you're right.
03:4544 yards on the ground with Christian McCaffrey.
03:49So this is the third game since they've gotten McCaffrey back that they haven't been able
03:53to run the ball.
03:54Stoney, I'm being real.
03:55I'm asking you, is that a McCaffrey problem?
03:57Is that an offensive line problem?
04:00Because if it's a McCaffrey problem, you're really in trouble.
04:03Of course.
04:04Because that's what you've become.
04:06Now Debo's become a zero.
04:08Like what is going on?
04:10And again, all I'm asking, partner, is why?
04:13And if you think this is a quick fix, this is not a quick fix.
04:17They're old.
04:18They're too old right now.
04:20McCaffrey's not McCaffrey.
04:21Debo's not Debo.
04:22You want to blame that on Kyle?
04:24Trent Williams is not Trent Williams.
04:25But is that age?
04:26No!
04:27Yes!
04:28Yes!
04:29Stoney, this is going to get worse before it gets better.
04:32Maybe.
04:33That sometimes is what happens when you're at the end of a run.
04:35And again, I'm no coach, but I'm a human.
04:38And I've played sports and I've watched it.
04:41How can one quarterback beat out another quarterback with a broken digit on the non-throwing
04:48hand?
04:49Like, make that make sense, Stoney.
04:53How can Brandon Allen with a broken digit still beat out Dobbs?
04:58And Brandon Allen had thrown an NFL pass since 2022.
05:03Our man Dobbsy, again, Stoney, just thoughts I had, he's quarterbacked and started in this
05:08league since then.
05:10That was odd to me.
05:11Dobbsy!
05:12A broken digit!
05:13And I'm putting that at the doorstep of Kyle.
05:17Wouldn't I just tell you, this is where I don't really feel like I have to ask the question.
05:24He thinks Brandon Allen with a broken finger on his left hand is better than Josh Dobbs.
05:28And that's what I'm saying.
05:29There it is.
05:30Plain and simple.
05:31He's also the guy that says he can't devise a game plan with Mason and McCaffrey.
05:38And now he's telling on himself.
05:40That's the only thing I would tell Kyle, you're doing wrong, bud.
05:43Listen to the guys doing the game yesterday.
05:48They're perplexed that you, the smart Jedi, can't, come on, and then when he gets in the
05:54game, he runs for 16 yards.
05:57Mason!
05:58I mean.
05:59Stoney, this, I know it's small, but it's big.
06:01I know.
06:02I'm not saying you're wrong on that.
06:04But they didn't lose that game yesterday because they didn't split carries between McCaffrey
06:08and Mason.
06:09It's so much bigger than that.
06:11You're right.
06:12It's so much bigger.
06:13Maybe you have more than 10 points, Stoney.
06:15What about that?
06:16That's one thing.
06:17Then what about the nine penalties at critical situations?
06:20What about the fact that the defense cannot get off the field?
06:23If it's not one thing or it's another, it's not one thing, it's another.
06:27But fourth and two, I got a backup quarterback in the conditions, but I got a raging bull
06:33who I don't use.
06:34I would have handed that thing off and tried to get two yards on the ground.
06:38I'm going to trust the conditions and have a guy that hadn't played since 2022 throw
06:43a little out route.
06:45That's nasty work to me.
06:47Again, Monday morning quarterback.
06:49But as much as I respect Kyle, I am really perplexed that he can't, Stoney, draw it up
06:57and have Mason.
06:58But Garindo's a kick returner now, fumbled, lucky to get it back.
07:02But Stoney, those are the questions that have me shocked.
07:05Yeah, I'm not shocked at all.
07:08And why would you be shocked?
07:10We said all offseason, during training camp, that this team was off.
07:17It's been off.
07:18There hasn't been anything good that's happened to this team in six months.
07:24Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, and Brandon Aiyuk, to my way of thinking, set the tone
07:30for the year.
07:32And it was an awful tone to be set.
07:35And the 49ers organization was an accomplice.
07:40Because they apparently thought they could push the Aiyuk negotiation and the Trent Williams
07:45negotiation all the way to the end of training camp and think they could get away with it.
07:51And they didn't.
07:53And they started out slow, and now some of those guys are starting to wear down.
07:59To me, you can get on Shanahan all you want, and he deserves a lot of criticism, but the
08:05veterans have not come to play this year.
08:10Plain and simple.
08:12Other than George Kittle, who has had a good year?
08:16Maybe I'll give you Jennings.
08:18But here's the other thing.
08:19I'm saying the same thing.
08:20Now we're starting to be honest.
08:22What's happened to Fred Warner?
08:23No doubt.
08:24I just, I don't know.
08:25There we go.
08:27When the big boys don't play, you're in trouble.
08:30But when they do play, you still lose.
08:32I don't mean don't play like they're hurt.
08:35When they don't, they haven't played well.
08:36No, you're right.
08:37Okay.
08:38There it is.
08:39But coming into yesterday, and again, Stani, I didn't expect him to win the game.
08:42But I did expect him to compete.
08:45Coming into yesterday, Stani, I don't have to tell you, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
08:50They had, they were right there.
08:52And again, Fred.
08:54When were they right there?
08:55No, no.
08:56Going into the game, in regard to the division, trying to win the division.
08:59Well, they're still right there if you want to give me some.
09:01Stani, why don't you put the right on the table?
09:02They were down 14 points.
09:04That game.
09:05Green Bay, I know you're going to come at me.
09:07They didn't impress me.
09:09Like, that wasn't their A game.
09:11And a couple of interceptions, if you hang on to the ball, I know that's why you played
09:15defense.
09:16Brown had a chance.
09:17This, this thing is spiraling out of control.
09:20But everybody, and I'm with you, that you just mentioned, you got to put Kyle in there.
09:27Because a guy that calls and controls who's on the field, Stani, and all of a sudden now,
09:34you want me, after watching Ricky Pearsall run against Dallas and run against Tampa Bay,
09:39I'm supposed to sit here and think he's no good?
09:42You can't find a way to get him a ball?
09:46Like, he's too young for me to say he fell off or something changed.
09:51This is the chef in the kitchen, and it's not Steph Curry.
09:55It's Kyle.
09:56He's in that line.
09:57He's been disappointed.
09:58Here's another bad game.
09:59Another bad game.
10:00Yeah, go ahead.
10:01OK, well, you know, we keep criticizing Shanahan.
10:07Do something about it if you really think he's the problem.
10:11I don't necessarily think he's been great at all.
10:14He's just hard-headed, stubborn.
10:16I think the team is juiced the wrong way.
10:20Have they tuned somebody out?
10:21No.
10:22How do you know that, though?
10:23Think about it.
10:24How do you know?
10:25Because how do they look?
10:26Like a team that's not listening to their coach, getting nine penalties and eleven missed
10:32tackles in one quarter.
10:34That's how they look.
10:35I'm asking you, that means nothing.
10:37If your kids act up and they're under 18, that's on the parents.
10:40OK, well, then do something about it.
10:42What do you want to do about it?
10:44What do you want to do?
10:45Do you want to fire him?
10:46I can't do anything now.
10:47We've got six games left.
10:48Well, no, you can.
10:49You can rip him for six more weeks, which sounds like what's going to happen.
