00:00The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America People's Trade Treaty, ALBA-TCP,
00:15held a summit meeting on Monday to evaluate the region's political situation in the
00:21face of international extreme right aggression.
00:26The scandal unleashed by the first investigations into the U.S. Agency for International Development,
00:31USAID, could lead to its permanent closure, British media allowing American far-right
00:36leaders among recipients of millions of dollars in aid.
00:43And the Israeli siege against the West Bank city of Jenin continues for the 14th consecutive
00:48day, leaving at least 25 dead to date.
00:57Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
01:03We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:15The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America People's Trade Treaty, ALBA-TCP,
01:20held a meeting on Monday to evaluate the region's political situation in the face of provocations
01:25of the international extreme right.
01:27During the meeting, the bloc's head of state spoke out in favor of the respect for the
01:32human rights and dignity of migrant population and the defense of sovereignty and peace in
01:37Latin America and the Caribbean.
01:39For his part, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that security organizations
01:44must be coordinated in order to dismantle, capture, and destroy human trafficking organizations.
01:56During his opening address, the Venezuelan president also highlighted the bloc's need
02:01to demonstrate its protagonist role in the struggle for sovereignty, dignity, and equality.
02:06We need to demonstrate once again our capacity, the capacity of ALBA to be at the vanguard
02:17of the struggles for sovereignty, dignity, equality, and the right to happiness, peace
02:28of all peoples.
02:31In another part of his intervention, Maduro described migration as one of the highest
02:35priorities of the summit's debates and demanded that migrants be treated with respect to their
02:40human rights and urged to create the mechanism to fully integrate them into their countries
02:45of origin.
02:47Maduro also informed the bloc's bank proposal to create a fund to assist deported migrants
02:51achieve their integrations.
02:53The respect towards our migrants, respect to their human rights and labor rights, and
03:05to ensure that they can come back to our countries in a dignified fashion so they
03:24become citizens fully integrated and fully productive in each one of our countries.
03:33The ALBA bank is making a proposal, namely, to create a system of loan for reinsertion
03:44of entrepreneurial migrants with a fund, according to this proposal, $10 million, a roving fund
04:01to address partially this situation.
04:07During his speech from Havana, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced that Latin America
04:16and the Caribbean are under the constant threat by the United States government, which seeks
04:20to either dominate nations of the region or submit them to permanent aggressions.
04:30But we have to take into account that this is not only about Cuba, the whole Latin America
04:35and the Caribbean are under that threat and only with unity we can face the joint imperialist
04:40and oligarchic counteroffensive that supports that threat, it is impossible for us to forget
04:44the cases of interference that only a few years ago took place in our zone of peace,
04:49with plans that were both delirious as dangerous.
04:52Today the government of the United States pretends to define the alternatives open to
04:57our countries, which are either to subdue them or to submit them to permanent aggressions.
05:05Likewise the Bolivian President Luis Garza condemned the spread of hatred, speech and
05:09xenophobia against migrants who have contributed to the development of the countries, both
05:13economically and socially.
05:22We condemn the spread of hatred, speech and xenophobia against those who have contributed
05:27to economic and social development in many countries.
05:32In this context, we join the protest of our brothers in Cuba against the Trump administration's
05:38announcement to convert the illegally occupied territory of the Guantanamo naval base into
05:43a detention center for illegal migrants.
05:47We cannot forget that the United States has a notable influence on the behavior of migratory
05:52flows in the continent as a result of its interfering policies and its arbitrary unilateral
05:58and coercive measures against our peoples.
06:02Migrants play a fundamental role in the development of their host countries, bringing most of
06:07the time huge benefits to them.
06:16During his participation in the ALBA-TCP meeting to assess the political situation
06:20in the region, the Prime Minister of San Vincente and the Grenadines, Ralf Gonsalves,
06:25said that the effects of the contradictions of global capitalism are reflected in the
06:29imposition of tariffs and taxes on developing countries.
06:34It is manifesting itself through the impositions of tariffs and responses by governments to
06:47the impositions of tariffs.
06:55What we are seeing here will create further instability and contradictions in the global
07:07economy and it is not going to be very easy for us in the developing world to deal with
07:18the knock-on effects of the contradictions of the nationalist factions of monopoly capital.
07:32Now we have had, since the rise of modern globalization, we have had undercurrents of
07:40a reaction against a uniform global monopoly capitalism and the failures of that unified
07:47global capitalism, in fact the impossibility of having it coherent, have led to the collapse
08:17of the global economy.
08:35Bolivian and Latin American authorities gathered at the Paseo del Prado in La Paz on Monday
08:40to commemorate the 230th birthday of the great Marshal of the Battle of Vallecuja, Antonio
08:45José de Sucre. The heartfelt tribute was paid in front of the monument to one of the
08:50most beloved historical figures of the grand Colombian countries. Bolivian authorities
08:55as well as diplomatic personnel from the Venezuelan Embassy and other countries laid floral wrath
09:01at the base of the monument to the man who proclaimed Bolivia's independence in 1926
09:06and was its second president. Antonio José de Sucre is remembered as a hero of independence
09:11and a visionary leader who contributed significantly to the formation of the Bolivian nation. His
09:17legacy lives on in the collective memory of the country.
09:26This year in Bolivia we celebrate the bicentennial of our independence and remember with admiration
09:31the great Marshal of Vallecuja, founder of the great Bolivian nation and its second president.
09:42In honor of Marshal Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia was named after Sucre.
09:50Sucre's ideas are today more alive than ever. The construction of a state of institutions
09:58based on ideals and the promotion of a Latin American unity as a challenge for the unity
10:13of our peoples.
10:28Welcome back to From the South. The scandal unleashed by the first investigations into
10:35the U.S. Agency for International Development, USAID, could lead to its permanent closure.
10:42British media, Latin American far-right leaders are among the recipients of millions of dollars
11:04in aid. Elon Musk, head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, has already
11:10administratively dismissed several officials who tried to block access to sensitive documents.
11:16The first revelations confirmed the transfer of millions of dollars to alleged political
11:21leaders in Latin America to help migrants who are now being expelled by Washington in
11:25deplorable conditions. The British BBC network is also at the center of the controversy,
11:30having been found to have received funds from the U.S. Agency, even though it is expressively
11:36forbidden to receive foreign funding.
11:42In this context, tech tycoon Elon Musk denounced that the United States Agency for International
11:48Development financed research for biological weapons, such as COVID-19. Elon Musk exposed
11:54in his social networks that with tax money, the USAID helped to investigate and spread
11:59the pandemic that caused millions of deaths in the world. The tycoon also stated that
12:04the U.S. Agency also contributed to the production of heroin in Afghanistan, accusing them of
12:09being a criminal organization. Musk accused, as well, the USAID of being linked to coup
12:16d'etat in Haiti, Ukraine, Egypt and other countries in the world.
12:27Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called on Canadians to boycott U.S. products and only buy national
12:33The Prime Minister urged citizens to check product labels and choose products manufactured
12:37in the country, suggesting that whenever possible, choose Canada. Trudeau also called on Canadians
12:43not to vacation in the U.S., but to do so in Canada. The call aims to fight against
12:49the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. According to information from the Oval Office,
12:55President Trump has scheduled a meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and the
12:59Canadian Prime Minister.
13:07European Union leaders have further convened to respond to the U.S. President Donald Trump's
13:12threats. The 27 European Union members have met on Monday morning at the Royal Palace
13:18in Brussels. Briefings refer that the first part of the agenda will focus on geopolitics
13:24and relations with the U.S. They further recalled that U.S. President Trump announced to impose
13:29very soon tariffs on the European Union. The GOP head of state had justified such hostile
13:35policy by accusing Europe of taking advantage of the U.S. Moreover, the agenda includes
13:41both a meeting with NATO Secretary to discuss issues related to Russia and an encounter
13:45with British Prime Minister.
13:54The North Korean government condemned Monday the statements of U.S. Secretary of State
13:58Marco Rubio, who called the nation a rogue state. Rubio's statements pose a serious
14:02political provocation willing to tarnish the image of a sovereign state. The North Korean
14:08administration ensured that Rubio had expressed the White House's incorrect view of the Asian
14:13nation. Furthermore, following the U.S. Secretary of State's remarks, the North Korean government
14:18stated that they will never help boost Washington's interest in the region. Meanwhile, U.S. experts
14:24had described Rubio's statements as reckless, especially since the U.S. President has designated
14:29Richard Reynolds as his special representative for North Korea.

15:18Welcome back from the South. On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived
15:23in the United States to meet with President Donald Trump. Netanyahu's visit comes at
15:28a time when the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are to begin in order to
15:33further define the truce agreement. Before traveling to the United States, Netanyahu
15:38assured that the war has served to change the face of the Middle East. The Minister
15:43of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, and the liaison with the families of the hostages,
15:48Galrish, accompanied the Israeli Prime Minister. The International Criminal Court said that
15:53U.S. authorities should arrest Netanyahu on charges of war crimes and genocide against
15:59the Palestinian people.
16:14The Israeli siege against the city of Jenin continues for the 14th consecutive day, leaving
16:21at least 25 people killed to date. Zionist forces blew up some 20 residential buildings
16:27in the eastern part of the Jenin camp in the occupied West Bank. Local authorities denounced
16:32that Tel Aviv is carrying out a campaign of forced displacement, which affects some 15,000
16:37Palestinians. Authorities also warned that occupation troops have no respect for international
16:42humanitarian law, since their attacks also targeted health centers and members of the
16:47press who were covering the news.
16:54And for a second consecutive day, Israeli occupation troops maintained their military
16:58aggression south of the occupied West Bank town of Tubas. Between al-Farah camp and the
17:04town of Tammoun, the Zionist army razed the roads and infrastructure of both localities,
17:09blocking the access points with dirt mounds. Occupation forces also stormed and raided
17:14the homes of residents, forcing them to flee. In addition, Israeli forces detained more
17:19than 10 citizens between the town of Tammoun and the camp, while bulldozers destroyed an
17:24aqueduct between the town of Tammoun and the village of Atof.
17:34The Israeli occupation forces remain deployed at the Rafah border crossing to prevent the
17:38return of Palestinian citizens to the Gaza Strip. According to local authorities, Israel
17:43is not only preventing the return of Gaddafi citizens to their homes, but is also blocking
17:49the departure of the wounded to medical centers and hospitals abroad, where they would receive
17:55medical treatment. In this regard, the activity at the border is limited to the departure
18:00of 100 patients and wounded in need of treatment in Egypt, and 50 people in a humanitarian
18:06situation. The restrictions on the movement of the Palestinian population constitute
18:10a violation of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinian resistance
18:15movement Hamas, which entered into force on January 19 and consists of three phases, setting
18:21out a series of humanitarian and political commitments for both parties.
