00:53Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the TELESUR headquarters
00:56in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:58Now we begin with the news, stay with us.
01:13U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to BRICS member countries aimed at
01:18efforts to reduce their debt dependence on the U.S. dollar in international trade.
01:23In a publication on the social network Truth Social, the U.S. President assured that he
01:29would not allow the creation of an alternative currency or the backing of currencies that
01:34challenge the supremacy of the dollar, threatening to impose a 100% tariff on members of the
01:40BRICS and exclude them from U.S. market if they proceed in their attempts.
01:45Since 2023, the BRICS has been discussing the possibility of creating a common currency
01:50backed by commodities, an initiative that also still at a theoretical stage is causing
01:57concern in sectors of U.S. politics.
02:06In response to the threat issued by U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin
02:12reiterated that the BRICS are not discussing the creation of a common currency, but rather
02:18they are talking about new investment platforms.
02:21But in a photo, they clarified that the objective of the new investment platform is to allow
02:27joint investments in third countries.
02:30He also advised U.S. experts to explain in more detail the BRICS agenda to President
02:35Trump.
02:36The Russian leader stressed that the BRICS are neither fighting against the dollar nor
02:41abandoning it.
02:42He points out that countries that are not allowed to work with the U.S. currency need
02:46to look for alternatives.
02:56A preliminary report by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on the deadline amid the collision
03:01between an American airline jet and a military helicopter on Wednesday suggests that aviation
03:07safety procedures might have failed.
03:10According to the report, the helicopter was flying outside its approved path at the moment
03:16of the collision.
03:17The document also stated that the pilots of the passenger jet most likely did not see
03:23the helicopter as they made a turn towards the runway and that the traffic controller
03:30was performing two jobs at the same time and was unable to keep the helicopter and the
03:35plane separate.
03:37Pilots or traffic controllers and safety experts have reportedly been warning for years about
03:43growing holes in the aviation systems that could lead to the kind of crash that occurred
03:49on Wednesday where 67 people lost their lives.
04:01The U.S. government ordered on Thursday the freezing of federal aid funds earmarked for
04:06NGOs dedicated to assist migrants.
04:09According to a document published by the Department of Homeland Security, the agency
04:13expressed concern about the use of government funds, alluding to the possibility that they
04:20might be used to promote and induce illegal immigration.
04:25The directive instructs the department staff to review all NGOs detailing with migration
04:33and investigate what money is being used for illegal purposes.
04:38As a matter of fact, local authorities have pursued NGOs serving migrants in U.S. border
04:44cities.
04:53Leading U.S. politicians, the area is calling for mass deportations of migrants in the country,
04:59echoing U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to expel undocumented aliens.
05:04The migrant issue is emerging as the number one priority for German voters ahead of elections
05:11next month.
05:12While nation's chancellor and foreign minister candidate Svetlana Shcherbakova pushed a non-binding
05:20parliamentary motion to create a crackdown on illegal aliens.
05:24The proposal included permanent border control, ban on entry by anyone without valid documents,
05:33detention of migrants who have been ordered to leave the country, and daily deportation
05:38flights.

14:12The President of Panama, José Raúl Molina, ruled out negotiations on the Panama Canal
14:17with the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who will arrive in the country unawakened.
14:22During his weekly conference, the President informed about the arrival of a U.S. diplomat
14:27on Saturday night and a meeting to be held with him on Sunday morning.

14:38administration of the channel is non-negotiable and will not be part of the talks.
14:43The Panamanian President might stress that there were other issues to discuss by both
14:50governments, such as irregular migration, organized crimes, man-laundry and drug trafficking,
14:55whose main market is in the U.S.
15:25Also, in Panama activists protest in the capital, ahead of the upcoming visit of U.S. Secretary
15:41of State, Marco Rubio.
15:43Students and political organization protest against the arrival of the head of U.S. diplomacy,
15:49who plans to address the agenda of President Trump, who seeks to rise control of the Panama
15:54Canal from the Central American country.
15:56During the day, patriotic collectives took part in a flood of planning in the Gardena
16:02and near the Panamanian Canal Administration Building.
16:06The peaceful demonstration was accompanied by slogans in defense of national sovereignty.
16:18We will definitely not give an inch of our sovereignty, our independence, our autonomy
16:24to decide with whom Panama can and should negotiate the transit of the Panama Canal.
16:30We will not give an inch, because really this is a step backwards in the history of our
16:36struggle to conquer our space, our land, our country.
16:41And it does not do justice to all the bloodshed, nor to our interests as a nation.
16:48In Mexico, President Claudio Chamberlain sent a request to the multinational technology
16:52company Google to create the name of the area that is currently called the Gulf of America
16:57at the behest of the Trump administration.
17:00In a letter to Google's chief executive officer, Sundar Pichai, the Mexican government urged
17:08the company to rectify the name of Gulf of Mexico in its Google Maps application, stressing
17:14its widely documented historical origin.
17:17The letter also mentions the existence of 12 bilateral treaties in force, which states
17:24that the name of Gulf of Mexico recognizes international legal order and therefore its
17:30validation in the legal framework of both countries.
17:33Faced with the controversy, the company specified that a change to its maps would only be available
17:40to users accessing search engines from the United States.
17:55We are sending a letter to Google, first to tell them, well, I guess Google Maps knows
18:01this international division.
18:04It should also know which is the body that names the international seas.
18:15And changing topics.

19:04her time.
19:05It aims to rescue her legacy, highlighting her crucial role in the struggle for independence
19:11and her courage in facing adversity in a male-dominated world.
19:23An exhibition in Iran, entitled Key Older Than Israel, by photographer Wahad Ramezi,
19:30presents the daily life of Palestinians and their hope of returning home.
19:35Ramezi, who visited several refugee camps in southern Lebanon, captured the reality
19:40of the displaced Palestinians through a 7D photograph that tells the story of their resistance.
19:48The exhibition is divided into four sectors, displacement, resistance, life, and return.
19:54It also reflects the experiences of several generations of Palestinians.
19:58This initiative seeks to offer an alternative perspective on the Palestinian situation,
20:03opposing the narrative of the Zionist regime and highlighting the struggle for freedom
20:07of the Palestinian people.
