00:00Yes guys, how's it going? I'm Henry Bryant, a reporter for Sussex World that covers Brighton
00:04Hove Albion and I'm joined with Sam Morton who is a reporter for Sussex World who also covers
00:09Brighton Hove Albion and the Reds. Now we've just been in the press conference for the Crystal
00:15Palace game coming up for the Albion at home on the Sunday. Sam, what was Fabian Herzler saying
00:20about this one? Is he looking forward to the occasion? Yes, he is looking forward to the
00:24occasion. He spoke of his experience of rivalries in Germany when he was at St Pauli. He's got
00:32experience knowing how much it means to the fans, how much it just takes that added importance in
00:37getting the result. You obviously asked him about that record that Bryant have against Palace which
00:41he would obviously want to maintain going into this one. Obviously the form has been a bit up
00:45and down, three games without a win for Brighton but I was just talking in there about how form
00:49goes out the window in these kind of games. Herzler basically said that he doesn't want his
00:55team's mood to be defined on results. It's all about performances and following the style of
01:00play that he's trying to install and obviously he's going to be disappointed in the manner in
01:03which they dropped points at Leicester, lost at Fulham and obviously drew from a winning position
01:08against Southampton. So that's going to be something that he's going to try and iron out.
01:12He spoke of how he judges himself before the players and that's what he really wants to do
01:17before he criticises anyone. He really did pinpoint how crucial it is to have experience
01:25when asked about how important it is to have experienced players and the structure of the team
01:29right to be able to hold on to these leads. I think that's been something which they've
01:33struggled to do this season and something which they obviously need to improve on,
01:38starting with this big one against Palace. Definitely and another topic of interest in
01:42this one was the new signing of Diego Gomez. How excited was Fabian, not just because of the
01:48work ethic that he's got but also the versatility that he can bring into the squad?
01:52Yeah and it was very encouraging signs from what we heard there. It sounds like he's going to go
01:56straight into the first team squad and he can really bring something special to the team.
02:00Obviously he's got a compatriot in Julio in Sisso who can obviously help him settle down.
02:05Obviously it's going to take time coming in from the MLS so it'll be interesting to see how much
02:09game time he gets in the short term because we do know how it hurts a lot to take it slow with
02:15players. We've seen players integrated in slowly and we've seen that with the Serbian before as
02:20well. They don't really want to rush players in too quickly so I'm sure we'll see that but we'll
02:26see bits and pieces from him as time goes on and obviously the amount of attacking talent that
02:31Brighton have. I think there's so many players he can learn from and gel with and it's a really
02:35exciting signing. For sure and finally Fabian and the press mentioned that he had been to a derby
02:42before of Crystal Palace versus Brighton so how much of a benefit do you think that is that he's
02:47got that experience being involved with the fans seeing how much this rivalry means to fans of both
02:53sides? Yeah 100% he obviously went there in the away section at Selhurst Park before he was a
02:59Brighton manager. We understand he was given a ticket by Pascal Gross at the time and so that
03:04was really cool to hear that he's obviously had that experience. He mentioned obviously the number
03:09of police that he saw and how that's common and you see that was something which you'd also see
03:13in Germany as well in big games. He obviously wants everyone to be safe and not to do anything
03:18silly but he loves the fact that there's an added importance behind these kind of games and the fans
03:23can really get behind the team and be their 12th man he said. So yeah it should be a really good
03:28game and I think Herzog can't wait to have his first experience of this big rivalry. Perfect,
03:34thanks for that Sam and you can check out all of our coverage for this game and more on sussexworld.co.uk
