Transcript
00:00I'm Henry Bryant and I'm joined with Darren Howard and we've just been to the Breita pre-match
00:04press conference as Albion are set to take on Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup.
00:10So Darren, what was Fabian Herzler saying about all the injury news?
00:13Is there any concern for Albion fans coming into this one?
00:16Big, big concern, yes. Jal Pedro, he twisted his ankle in training this week by the sounds of it
00:24and he's definitely going to miss the Norwich game but the extent of the injury isn't quite
00:30clear yet so he could be out for a lengthy period. They're waiting on an MRI scan.
00:35We understand that he's had his scan and we're just waiting for the results of that so we'll hope
00:41or they'll be hoping that the damage won't be too serious but it's not looking good at this stage
00:46so he's definitely going to miss the Norwich game. Danny Welbeck will be hoping to come back in time
00:53for the game. He's going to be assessed this week in training but the game's going to come too soon
00:58for the likes of Jack Kinchelwood who's out, James Milner who's out, Matt Swiffer as well,
01:03Ferdy Kadioglu and Louis Dunk of course as well so the injury list is quite extensive
01:09and it's not going to ease that much in time for Norwich.
01:13Sounds like a tricky period for Breita and just how important is it to get a win after
01:18four results where they've had four draws and haven't been strung in to get any wins on the
01:22board recently? They have, yeah, it's eight without a win now and they've got ten draws
01:28in a Premier League this season which is the most of any Premier League team. Norwich have nine
01:33draws this season as well so a draw could be a safe bet for this one but yeah I still think
01:41they do have enough options. They've got a big squad, remember they spend so much money in the
01:46summer so he does have a few options and I think that they should have enough firepower if they're
01:52really on it. It won't be easy but if they're really putting in a good performance I still
01:57think they've got enough within the squad to get a win and progress through to the next stage.
02:04Absolutely and breaking news this week, Graeme Potter going to West Ham after
02:09quite a bit of time out after his previous failed stint at Chelsea. What was Fabian
02:13Herzler saying about that situation? Yeah I think it's good, obviously a former Brighton
02:19manager Graeme Potter and Herzler said that when he came in as the new manager he looked
02:25back at what the previous managers have done or have done in the past, he studied the history
02:31and I think he was quite impressed with what Potter did here with the squad he
02:35had. I don't think the squad was anywhere near as strong as what Herzler inherited so Potter
02:40was working with perhaps a less talented squad than what Herzler has and I think Graeme
02:48Potter for three seasons he was largely successful here. I think he did a very good
02:54job, he transformed Brighton from a team that was struggling with the relegation battles into a top
03:00half team and I think he should get a lot of credit for that. He did a good job at Brighton,
03:04didn't work out for him at Chelsea although he did quite well financially from it, a five-year
03:09contract and he only lasted less than a year so I think it was a good move for him in that respect
03:14but he'll be itching to get back and I think this West Ham job is the funny club West Ham.
03:22Obviously David Moyes left, they weren't quite happy with the football they were playing under
03:26David Moyes although they had success in Europe and some decent finishes in the Premier League.
03:31Lopetegui didn't quite work out for them so I think Potter's now going to have a chance
03:37to go in there, make his mark and put his stamp on West Ham and I think most Brighton
03:42fans will be pleased to see him back in the Premier League.
