00:00Hello I'm Henry Bright, a reporter for Sussex World and I'm with Sam Morton and
00:05we've just watched Brighton lose out 3-1 against bitter rivals Crystal Palace.
00:10As you can see behind me a lot of police presence in this one and just wasn't the
00:14day for Brighton over Albion. Some really sloppy goals to concede, a lot of
00:18questions to be asked in defence and clearly a bad day at the office but how
00:23would you sum this one up Sam? Yeah as you say a bad day in the office of
00:26Brighton and it's four games without a win now. First home league defeat of the
00:30season as well. It was just poor from start to finish really. I mean the first
00:36goal came from a corner which you never like to concede from. I think it was just
00:41sloppy defending from that corner really that allowed Canova to tap in the
00:45opener and Brighton sloppy again in the sense they managed to concede a second
00:51goal through his man Asar. Again it was just really poor from Tarek Lamptey this time.
00:57Long ball put forward, Tarek Mitchell beat Lamptey to a header really easily, put in a
01:02great cross at the back post and there was nothing the keeper had to really do
01:05about it. Obviously two goals down at half-time.
01:08I think it's still time to come back and Brighton did play really well for the
01:11first I'd say five to ten minutes of the second half. I think there was a change with
01:14obviously Julio Hasise coming on for Lamptey which was a good change from
01:19Herzegovina in the sense that Hasise has obviously been limited to game time this
01:23season so he'd have a big point to prove and he did nearly score. It was a lovely
01:27one-two at Buleva and he curled a shot that was heading for the bottom
01:30corner but Henderson pulled out a really good save to deny that one.
01:35But it was a decent response at that point. He felt like Brighton could get
01:38into it if they got a goal but they couldn't quite do it and Palace
01:41weathered that storm and they managed to add to the lead and went 3-0 up with
01:45Ismail Sarr scoring his second of the evening, the afternoon I should say.
01:50And from that point on it was kind of game over, 3-0 down. Not really a lot of
01:56time to come back but they did manage to get a consolation goal, a really scrappy
02:00own goal from Al-Ghaihi but that did little to lift the spirits in the stadium
02:03by that point. It was very down and the stadium had emptied but a lot of
02:08people had left after that third goal so I don't think as many people were to actually
02:11see that consolation goal. So yeah, a really sad way for the day to go.
02:17Obviously it does leave Brighton in a bit of a position now where they need to
02:20start getting some form back sooner rather than later.
02:23And final question from myself is Fabian Hauser in that post-match press conference.
02:28He was very unhappy, maybe some would say furious, at Michael Oliver making a
02:33small mistake in that first goal where during play he had hold of Carlos
02:39Do you think that Fabian has the sort of reason to be angry there or do you
02:44think that that was just a small error in the game?
02:47Yeah, I think after a result like that he's definitely going to be angry.
02:54He's going to be furious about certain things in the game that didn't go his way.
02:57I wouldn't necessarily say that's the reason Brighton lost today.
03:00I think he probably needs to forget that really quickly and think about the reasons
03:05why they've lost today and reasons why their form has not been great.
03:09I think that needs to take his priority and he's come out obviously really angry
03:12about an incident which he can do nothing about.
03:14And I think he needs to focus on what he can control and what needs to fix up pretty
03:20quickly, I think, because there are some fans that are rightly unhappy with the way
03:24things are at the moment.
03:25I think obviously Brighton were looking really good in the potential
03:29Champions League push and that's what everyone was chanting for, that win at
03:32Bournemouth, to show us how quickly things can change in football and things haven't
03:36been great since then.
03:37But it can easily change for the better and hopefully they can start getting some wins
03:41on the board again.
03:42Thanks for that, Sam.
03:43Hopefully Brighton can get some run of form going into this festive period and also into
03:49the new year as well.
03:50Time will tell if Albion can turn it around from a really successful first start of the
03:55season to a little bit of a lull coming into this festive period.
03:59I've been Henry Brighton, that's been Sam Mawson and we'll have more coming like
04:02reaction and more later on.
