SussexWorld reporters Jacob Panons and Sam Morton assess Brighton's 3-1 defeat against West Ham
Transcript
00:00 Hi, my name's Jacob Pannins and here with Sam Morton. We've just watched the West Ham-Brighton
00:05 game. West Ham won 3-1. What did you think of that, Sam?
00:09 Yeah, it was one of those games for Brighton, really. It's an off day all round. It started
00:15 off badly with James Walter-Proust opening the scoring. And they never really looked
00:20 like finding a way back. There was plenty of possession and they lost the ball, really,
00:24 for out. But they just lacked that kind of killer pass, that final ball, and West Ham
00:28 were just such a threat on the counter-attack. It was a counter-attack and masterclass in
00:32 all honesty. And Miquel Antonio was a constant threat, Jarrett Bowen. Yeah, they were great,
00:38 West Ham, really. They did the job perfectly. They executed the game plan perfectly. And
00:43 yeah, just an off day for Brighton, really, and one they'll want to bounce back from pretty
00:47 quickly.
00:48 Yeah, obviously, you know, some people say it was Moore's ball. Somebody was telling
00:51 me it was 21% possession to West Ham today. But, you know, that's something I think Roberto
00:55 de Zerbe and Brighton need to learn how to overcome in the future, because we've seen
00:59 it with Everton. They struggled. It was 5-1 here last season against Everton. Obviously,
01:02 3-1 today and West Ham could have had a few more. But obviously, it's worth mentioning
01:06 as well, Arjeola had a fantastic game, made so many important saves. If it wasn't for
01:11 him, I think Brighton probably would have got an equaliser or even a winner towards
01:14 the end. So, yeah.
01:15 100%, no, I agree with that. Especially Lewis Dunkler, he must be wondering how he didn't
01:20 find the net. It was some great headers from corners. Evan Ferguson, it wasn't his best
01:24 game, but he still was probably the most likely to score. And a couple of cracking shots that
01:30 were saved by the keeper. And as you say, in spider form, really. It could easily have
01:35 been a different result, even though Brighton didn't play well. They could have played
01:38 the next draw if it wasn't for those saves and West Ham defended so well throughout.
01:42 So, yeah, definitely a deserved win for West Ham and one that de Zerbe will want to recover
01:50 from and look to make some changes in the next game. I think Adam Webster won't look
01:54 back at this game too fondly. I think he made some crucial errors for all three goals, I
02:00 think. Especially the first one when he was bullied off the ball by Antonio. That was
02:05 a bit too easy. But yeah, he's easily reliable and he'll recover, I'm sure.
