00:00Last part of this interview, we got to talk about is your family history, which is, uh,
00:07it's so interesting.
00:08Like, I didn't realize until just doing some just basic research before talking with you
00:12today, Jess, of your Czech background.
00:15I didn't know, I thought like just like full on American Jessica Korda, but I didn't, you've
00:20played for like the Czech team.
00:21Um, Oh, wow.
00:22You really did something.
00:23Yeah.
00:24I, I was like, what in the world, how did I miss this?
00:27But if most of, I mean, we got Nellie, we got Sebastian, who's an incredible men, male
00:33tennis player.
00:34And then your parents who, you know, your, your dad, Peter, is it pronounced Peter?
00:38I assume that's what we're missing an E in there.
00:42So I just was making sure it wasn't something else.
00:44And then your mother who was a fantastic woman's tennis player.
00:47So I guess my first question in this would be having two tennis parents, were you pushed
00:54into anything as a kid?
00:56Because I heard you say earlier that five years old, you're swinging a golf club.
01:00I would imagine that tennis would be something that's easily like, Hey, Jess, you're the
01:03first let's get that tennis racket going.
01:06Um, they never pushed us to play a specific sport.
01:10Um, we were always encouraged to play all sports.
01:13I mean, I did gymnastics, figure skating, um, golf, tennis, ski, like we did all the
01:21sports as soon as we were able to.
01:23Like we were encouraged to do everything.
01:26And then whatever kind of fell into our lap in terms of the love for is what we ended
01:32up doing.
01:33Um, I love gymnastics and figure skating, but with an almost six foot frame, I did not,
01:39they did not see that as a future for me.
01:42So, and living in Florida, you know, that's just, again, not something that was, was a
01:48feasible goal.
01:49So I was encouraged to play like golf and tennis, and I did not like tennis at all.
01:56I love watching it.
01:57I, the rumor is I didn't like to sweat, which haha jokes on me because you also sweat and
02:02golf.
02:03Um, but I just loved golf because I was able to play with everybody.
02:09Like I could go play with my grandpa.
02:10I could go play with my dad.
02:11I could go play with the kids.
02:12My age, most of my friends are five years older than me or four or five years older
02:17than me.
02:18So I was playing off the guys tease and, um, as an eight year old, like tip tipped
02:24out, but I was able to play, you know, with these cool kids and I loved every moment of
02:30it.
02:31And that's like what motivated me to play golf is I could play with anybody and everybody.
