00:00There's so much going on with college golf right now, and you couldn't be more connected
00:08than anybody.
00:09And so I think there's a good place to start here is we're going to talk about PGA TOUR
00:13U, and we're going to talk about the Luke Clantons of the world, the Gordon Sargents
00:17and those types of players.
00:19But college golf right now, similar to the landscape of professional golf, which is changing,
00:24it seems like every single minute, you know, with college golf, just like college football,
00:30big time adjustments coming to the sport, roster cuts, being the one that's I think
00:35is the one that's being the most effective for these juniors coming out, as well as players
00:40that are on teams right now trying to make a spot.
00:43So Brantley, first of all, thanks for coming.
00:46Let's get straight into that, though, if you don't mind.
00:48Yeah, no, thanks for having me, guys.
00:50If college golf wasn't considered the Wild Wild West before, it definitely is now.
00:55Let's talk.
00:56Let's start with PGA TOUR U, because I think this is now what the fourth year or the fourth
01:01class with that program, and I think what the job that Brennan Van Dorn at the PGA TOUR
01:06has done with this program, especially adding to the list of perks that these guys get.
01:13Now we have a PGA TOUR card.
01:15We have essentially the top 10 get some sort of corn free tour status and the top 25 get
01:21exemptions through certain stages of Q school PGA TOUR Americas.
01:25I think when you can offer that much to these young players, it definitely eases some of
01:31that anxiety, especially that first year out on pro or, you know, playing pro golf, because
01:36we've seen it before this program.
01:38I mean, guys like Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth didn't get through Q school their first
01:43years.
01:44Now they were always going to be fine.
01:46They were going to get through.
01:47But, you know, I was I was always curious to kind of wonder just how many players were
01:50lost by the wayside because they didn't make it through Q school and then they go through
01:55a slump and then they just can never get on the right side of the coin.
01:58So well, he's he's going to be just fine.
02:03We're going to see him in Cypress Point here in about 10 months.
02:09I actually I mean, I'd be curious to get your guys thoughts on PGA TOUR U because initially,
02:17I think coaches more so than anybody else were concerned about just how much of a distraction
02:23it would be.
02:24But I think now that we're in year four, they kind of realize that it is really important
02:28and it may have led to some players transferring from smaller schools to big time programs
02:35to play in the big point events to kind of get higher on that list.
02:39But I think overall, it's like great golf takes care of itself.
02:42And, you know, guys aren't really necessarily thinking about that as they get into April
02:48and May.
02:49They just know that they play well, they're going to get the points.
