09 December - National weather forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Good morning. While the weather will be settling down as we go through the week, as higher
00:05pressure becomes more dominant. But we still do have a squeeze in the isobars, especially
00:10towards the south. So here we still hold on to some brisk winds through today, then higher
00:15pressure becoming more established. But there will be some frontal systems just towards
00:20the far north, bringing some cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle across Orkney and Shetland.
00:26But back to this morning, and it's a cold start across Northern Ireland and Scotland,
00:30but a bright start here with a touch of frost. Cloudier conditions across much of England
00:35and Wales, but there will be some glimmers of sunshine first thing across western areas.
00:40But otherwise, there will be some showers around coming into southwestern England, but
00:45more so across parts of East Anglia, London and Kent. As for the winds, though, they will
00:51be easing as we go through the day, so not as intense as what we've seen over the weekend.
00:56We'll see highs further south, eight to nine degrees, but across Northern Ireland and Scotland,
01:01a cold day to come with temperatures struggling to get above freezing for some places. Now,
01:07as we go through Monday evening, we hold on to this blanket of cloud coming in from the
01:11North Sea with some showery outbreaks of rain across the southeast, drier across Northern
01:17Ireland and Scotland with lengthy clear skies. That'll help temperatures quickly fall and
01:22we'll see a widespread frost developing and some mist and fog patches too. So a cold night
01:29to come across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but milder further south with this blanket
01:35of clouds are generally staying frost free to start Tuesday. So quite a murky picture
01:42really to start across much of England and Wales on Tuesday with some patchy outbreaks
01:46of rain and drizzle and some heavier showers across the English Channel. A cold start across
01:52Northern Ireland and Scotland with some fog patches that actually could be quite stubborn
01:57to clear and temperatures across Scotland struggling to get above freezing. So here
02:03a cold day to come once again, a bit milder further towards the far north with some outbreaks
02:08of rain and drizzle. But across the south, largely dry, lighter winds, but temperatures
02:13still around eight or nine degrees. So as we look ahead to the new working week, then
02:19the higher pressure will become more established, but that does mean overnight frosts and fog
02:25too. So for all of the latest, make sure to hit subscribe on YouTube so you don't miss
02:29any updates and I'll see you soon. Bye bye.
