00:00As we look ahead to the extended forecast, we're going to begin with Thanksgiving.
00:04Big day here. Cold air across the central and northern plains.
00:07We have some snow and snow showers down into the lakes.
00:10And this is our storm system that we just highlighted.
00:12Many areas with 1 to 3 inches in your forecast for the interior, far interior northeast,
00:173 to 6 inches in the high ground of certain mountains there north of Interstate 80.
00:21And there will be some strong storms into the southeast.
00:24Some risk of severe weather Wednesday night and Thursday near and south of Interstate 40.
00:29Not a major severe event, but there will be some strong, gusty thunderstorms out there.
00:32And then the cold air is going to dominate the forecast.
00:35Look at this as it dislodges.
00:37And January cold overspreads more of the eastern two-thirds of the nation.
00:42The freezing line may even reach Interstate 10 next week.
00:46So it's going to get cold and we'll have feet of lake effect snow.
00:50You can see that pink and the white on the map here.
00:53That's where the color table is really screaming cold.
00:56Here's Tuesday next week, 8 days from now.
00:58Very cold air crossing the Great Lakes.
01:00And the lakes are still relatively warm this time of the year.
01:02In fact, they're warmer than they typically would be even this time of the year.
01:05So that's even higher octane fuel for lake effect snow production.
01:09So in transition to that colder time, this is Black Friday morning.
01:13Late Thanksgiving night into Black Friday morning.
01:15The door buster sale.
01:16Some of you will be out there maybe camping out outside of your favorite retailer.
01:19And we're going to be dealing in the upper northern plains here.
01:23The Red River of the north.
01:24Accurate to real field temperatures in the teens below zero.
01:27So bundle up.
01:28It's going to be really cold out there and in areas like Chicago.
01:31Accurate to real field temperatures in the single digits outside there.
01:35Early Black Friday morning.
01:36And lake effect snow picks up Black Friday through the holiday weekend into early next week.
01:41Heavy snow.
01:42Lake effect snow is really going to be piling up for some.
01:44And again, as we kind of step into that, there's Friday.
01:47Black Friday travel impact forecast.
01:50Next week looks cold.
01:525 to 15, 8 to 15 degrees below average across the eastern two-thirds of the nation.
