Snow fell in high elevations and in New England as rain drenched most of the Northeast on Dec. 18.
Transcript
00:00We could see some freezing take place soon with the snow that's falling off to the north into the northern parts of Pennsylvania
00:06And also into parts of the Laurel Highlands in the higher elevations a little bit of snow is beginning to break out
00:11Along with the rain in areas around Garrett County, Maryland, too. Let's go to New York City and Philadelphia
00:16You can see the rain pushing into areas from Center City up into the northeast part of Philadelphia
00:21And then also into New York City. We're seeing rain pick up in mainly the northern most parts of Manhattan, Manhattan
00:28the triple-digit
00:30Numbered blocks beginning to see some of that in waves a couple of sprinkles breaking out into Brooklyn and into Nassau County, too
00:36We have some widespread rain into Albany and into western parts of Massachusetts. There's some slow mo snow into
00:43Buffalo, New York today big flakes coming down near the courtyard by Marriott and again, it looks nice
00:49There's the snow globe there into Buffalo. The steadiest precipitation has exited off to the east
00:53Let's take a look at these 6 p.m. Eastern temperatures coming in from the airports
00:58We actually gained a degree in one or two spots here to the east
01:02But we lost two degrees in Virginia Beach down to 66
01:05We're at 34 in Buffalo right now as most of the snow is pulled east
01:09We are seeing some accumulations though in progress in these blue nuggets and in some of these areas in the pink
01:15We've gone from rain over to a little snow on the backside of the storm
01:19But for the big cities
01:20This is a rain event in Boston in New York and knocking on the door of Philadelphia
01:24A lot of the steadiest rain will come into those areas around midnight tonight
01:27Maybe plus or minus a couple of hours 10 p.m. To 2 a.m
01:30New York Philadelphia and then up into Boston through the early early morning hours late night for most of us
01:36But by dawn we should be seeing the rain exit Boston off to the east
01:40We are looking at a few inches of snow into the high ground of the northern sections of the region
01:45So Saranac Lake 2 to 4 inches of snow Accuweather's winter cast you can see we're hedging closer to that 2 inch part of the
01:52Very very very unlikely that we exceed 4 inches with this one and that's the value of winter cast
01:57You can kind of see our confidence in the forecast Thursday chillier quieter
02:02Temps drop down to the mid 40s in New York
02:04Seasonable for this time of the year down to freezing with some snow flurries in Buffalo
