01:29In Venezuela, the international world antithesis a new youth congress kick-off, with the participation
01:33of 100 international guests from 70 countries.
01:36The meeting will last until November 23rd at the Convention Center of the Generalissimo
01:41Francisco Miranda's Air Base.
01:43The participants will discuss in seven working tables on urgent topics such as gender-based
01:49violence, the forms of struggle of the student movements, workers' rights, the environment,
01:56youth organization to fight fascism, and the models of oppressions of the capital.
02:12President-elect Donald Trump nominated former Florida Attorney General Pan Bandi to lead
02:17the Justice Department after his fortuitous metakits withdrew his name over the six trafficking
02:23allegations.
02:25Bandi has been an outspoken offender of Trump.

07:3936 other collaborators from a coup attempt following his electoral defeat in 2022.

07:55Director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency Alexander Ramagen, and President of the Liberal

08:04The investigation reveals a coordinated plot to subvert the democratic order and prevent

14:50We continue here in Caracas as the Youth Congress, the anti-fascist Congress that is gathering
14:56here in the Venezuelan capital is underway.
14:59We've been reporting with the testimonies, we've been hearing from different people from
15:04around the world.
15:05As we have been saying, over 1,000 delegates have gathered in Caracas and will continue
15:11to gather tomorrow as well to discuss the most relevant topics regarding the social
15:17context that we are living in right now worldwide and in the struggle against fascism and also
15:23exchanging experiences and bringing their visions from different corners of the world.
15:28And in this case, we are joined by Shane Savory, a student from St. Lucia.
15:33Welcome, Shane.
15:34Thank you for being here with us in Tell Us Your English.
15:38Please tell us your experience at this Congress.
15:42How has the day been like meeting delegates from all over the world?
15:47What's your experience so far?
15:49Thank you so much for having me.
15:51So, I arrived in Venezuela on Wednesday.
15:54And honestly, coming into it, I didn't have a ton of expectations.
15:59I said, you know what, I'm just going to go into it and experience it for myself.
16:04The first thing that I've realized is just how massive this is.
16:09I mean, I come from a very tiny island in the Caribbean.
16:12I mean, Caracas is bigger than my entire country.
16:15So, just taking all of that in has been so interesting.
16:19But it's also been really interesting being somebody who is from the Caribbean community.
16:24We have these very close ties with Venezuela.
16:27And a lot of what you study at school and what you see in the news can be one way.
16:32But then coming here and actually seeing the place for yourself and actually meeting people
16:36and talking to people, it's an entirely different perspective.
16:39So, being here and being able to talk not just with Venezuelans but from people from all around the world
16:45and being able to hear so many languages in one place, it's been an extremely enlightening experience.
16:50And I'm so glad that I came.
16:52Exactly. So, we've been hearing from delegates from all over the world
16:56with their own particular experiences of what the anti-imperialist struggle,
17:01the anti-fascist struggle means for them.
17:04So, you come from St. Lucia.
17:06I would like to ask you, for this Caribbean country, in your experience,
17:10what does the anti-fascist movement mean in your case?
17:15I think that as a very small developing country, we're still in the process of finding our place in the world,
17:21especially among us who are young people.
17:24I'll be voting in my first election in the next couple of years.
17:28So, among my peers, I think it's really important that we start to find that footing
17:33to understand what is going on in different places around the world,
17:37despite what certain media may be or what our parents might believe and things like that.
17:42So, I'm really just learning about the experiences of so many people around the world
17:47whose lives have been shaped by so many political movements
17:50and so many things that have been happening worldwide and learning how all of that is connected.
17:54So, it's not only just an experience to learn about how others are living
17:58and how we can understand and help them in what we have in common,
18:01but I also think that it's important for my country, which is less than 50 years old,
18:05that we can understand how we can stay on the right path of government
18:08and how the youth can lead the country moving forward.
18:12And do you see hopeful youth in that sense?
18:16We're living in a very particular world context and a lot of the media coverage
18:21and really a lot of the things that are happening around the world are so, so difficult
18:25that some may think that we are in a sort of apocalyptic era.
18:29However, we have the youth coming together and, of course,
18:33we are seeing different alternatives and perspectives of the future.
18:36How do you see that future as part of the young generation?
18:40I think that this generation is very interconnected,
18:44especially with being able to communicate with people from all around the world
18:48through social media and being able to educate ourselves in that way.
18:51So, I find that a lot of young people that you meet now worldwide are more politically active than ever.
18:57And if we have a question, if there's something that we want to know,
19:00that it's easier than ever for us to just find that out.
19:03So, I think that it really is just a matter of young people being more curious about it
19:08and having that kind of intellectual vitality of wanting to understand more,
19:13of being able to compare and think for themselves.
19:15So, all of the information and all of the resources that we need to become more politically active are there.
19:21It's really just a matter of young people having that strength within them
19:25to go out there and figure out what it is and then take action.
