00:00Durant, thank you for politely checking me here because not everybody was quite as nice
00:06on the ticket text earlier today, but just to reset what I said, Dan Campbell eventually
00:11pulled Jared Goff and has done that a couple times this year.
00:14It's not soft to pull your starting quarterback when you're up a bunch of touchdowns, okay?
00:19My question was, why when they were up 36 points, was that not enough?
00:23You've got like a quarter and a couple minutes, you're up 36 points.
00:27To me, that felt unnecessary to put Goff out there.
00:29You can't bench everybody, but why is your starting quarterback on a season where you
00:34are chasing the Super Bowl, playing up 36 points?
00:37You're going to pull him eventually, so you can't tell me, well, he needs to finish the
00:40game.
00:42Why is he in at that point?
00:43That was the question.
00:45Was that part of the overreact, Jim?
00:46No, that's a separate part of your Monday presentation.
00:50That's called six to 10 every day.
00:52Okay.
00:53That was just a reaction.
00:55TJ, John, you guys, you both played, like clearly I'm missing something here.
01:00Coach is right.
01:01You don't go into games thinking, okay, guys, hey, let's get to the fourth quarter and then
01:05here's our target number.
01:06As players, you might.
01:08I think you start to know, especially as the game starts going on, all right, guys, a couple
01:11more drives, let's finish this thing off, get some water.
01:14I don't really have a definitive answer for why coaches want to wait so long, other than
01:20you feel like you're in a rhythm, you feel like your quarterback's playing really well,
01:23you want to maybe maximize the snaps for the positive plays and the momentum and keep stacking
01:30success going into the next week.
01:33I don't know if that's enough for people to say, oh, it's not worth it to risk an injury,
01:37but you can't ever think that way.
01:39And Jared came in at what was at the end of the third quarter, he finished the drive,
01:44which ended up taking a couple more minutes, I think in the fourth quarter, and then they
01:47were done.
01:48You kind of knew at that point, okay, guys, go finish the drive.
01:50Let's end on a high note and get the hell out of here.
01:53But you can't think in the back of your mind that, oh, we got to save him because he's
01:58going to get hurt.
01:59You can't think that way.
02:00Well, they do.
02:01They do.
02:02At some point, they do think that because that's why they pull him.
02:03Right?
02:04Why else would you pull him?
02:05At some point, the coach does consider that he could get injured by playing in a meaningless
02:08fourth quarter.
02:09My question is just when.
02:10I don't think it's that.
02:11I think it's more of, okay, you've done your job today.
02:15Great job.
02:16It's kind of dangling the carrot in front of your face and go give me a couple more
02:18plays and let's give the other guys some meaningful reps.
02:21I mean, Hendon Hooker still could use every rep possible.
02:23And I thought he was three for four, and even the one that was dropped, I think it was a
02:27good ball.
02:28I think it was a good ball.
02:29Allen Robinson jumped.
02:30He probably didn't have to.
02:31Yeah.
02:32Maybe some alligator arms.
02:33I think he just jumped when he didn't have to, and he left his feet and you took a big
02:36shot.
02:37But I think that's more of what goes into it.
02:38And look, a lot of these guys, too, with contracts these days, playing time incentives, right?
02:43Statistical incentives.
02:44Pene Sewell is a guy that we look at and we're like, man, 58.
02:48These guys think about their snap streaks that they have going on.
02:50Hey, man, I've never missed a snap, right?
02:53I'm not going to break that now.
02:54Coach, you're not taking me out of the game.
02:56So you think about a lot of those things as well.
02:57Well, and John, you brought up the debate here is you can't pull your entire offensive
03:01line.
03:02So who are you going to rest?
03:04And you said, well, correctly, Frank's dealing with a pack.
03:06Hey, let's get Frank out of the game.
03:09And then Decker was dealing with the shoulder, right?
03:11Now, to me, Sewell's the better player and the guy I don't want to lose.
03:14No one's going to argue that.
03:15But your point was, yeah, Zeitler is older as well.
03:19Now, Graham was still in there, but he's he's also been a guy that has a track record of
03:23being reliable.
03:24I think you bring up a great point.
03:27It's hard to think about incentives at this time of the year, but there are certain incentives
03:32that guys have in their contract that are a certain percentage of offensive plays.
03:37And if you get to the end of the year, would you rather be pulled in a game like this where
03:42things are going really well versus sit against Minnesota for three quarters?
03:47Yeah.
03:48Now, all of a sudden, you're in a position where, hey, Coach, I'm literally only like
03:51half a percent away from making my, you know, snap streak.
03:56But the playoffs are on the line.
03:58The bye week is there.
03:59And, you know, coaches are more apt to to remove you earlier in that game than they
04:03are in this one.
04:04And statistically, too.
04:05I mean, you know, if Amin Ra's got a bonus, you know, for touchdowns or yards, Jared Goff
04:10says, hey, coach, I get me out of the game.
04:12You know what I mean?
04:13Is he going to get that with Hendon Hooker?
04:14Probably.
04:15You know what I mean?
04:16So there's there's all the I think there's thoughts that go into that as well.
04:17And these are considerations that absolutely do happen.
04:21The biggest consideration is a healthy roster who has to play 13 straight games.
04:25When can I give guys a breather?
04:26I got to get to the finish line.
04:27The Super Bowl is the biggest incentive, more than your personal incentive.
04:30Yes.
04:31But players, players don't want to come out, though.
04:32Yeah.
04:33You know what I mean?
04:34Players don't want to come out, especially when you're playing a game like that and you're
04:35rolling and you got a chance.
04:36Everything is working.
04:37You don't want to come out of that game.
04:39You just don't.
04:40Yeah.
04:41OK.
04:42Ticket Texture says we're dancing around the real answer.
04:44Goff is an MVP candidate, says he's erased the five interception game with that performance.
04:49TJ, I want to get your response to that coming up next, because the market has shifted.
04:53Jerry Goff fell off the map from the MVP betting last week.
04:57He's back in the thick of it.
04:58We'll get your.
