00:00severe tropical storm Marseille as of 5 a.m.
00:03the bulletin.
00:04So, based upon our latest bulletin, the center of this storm, Marseille, is located in Karagatan
00:10or Silangan, Karagatan of our country.
00:13As of 4 a.m., its location is located at 735 kilometers, Silangan, of Baler, Aurora.
00:19And it has strong winds that reach up to 110 kilometers per hour,
00:25with strong winds that reach up to 135 kilometers per hour.
00:29And it moves fast in the direction of Hilagang, Kanluran or northwestward at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.
00:38If we can see here in our latest satellite image,
00:41the clouds that this Marseille storm brings are mostly concentrated or closer to the center of this storm.
00:47But because we expect that this Marseille storm will continue to approach our land,
00:54it is possible that it will be rainy season, especially in the areas of Bicol Region,
00:59in Quezon, as well as in Cagayan Valley, Apayao and Calinga today.
01:03And we also expect that it will be possible that it will be rainy season
01:07because we can see that the center of this storm is close to the area of Northern Luzon,
01:12possible by today or the next 36 hours.
01:15So, we will know later which specific areas are possible to experience
01:21the strong rainfall of this Marseille storm.
01:25Let us now look at what is included in our latest forecast track as of 5 a.m.
01:31We can see the central track of the storm or the possible movement of this Marseille storm in the next few days.
01:38There is also the forecast intensity or the possible category of this storm
01:43or the possible strength of this storm as the area inside our PAR continues to move.
01:50There is also the area shaded by white, that is the forecast probability cone
01:55or those are the possible areas that this Marseille storm may pass in the next few days.
02:01And the area shaded by yellow, that is the radius of the storm,
02:06that is where the strong wind brought by this Marseille storm is located.
02:10If we look at our latest forecast track or forecast intensity,
02:15the Marseille storm may become stronger today and reach the typhoon category
02:20until it leaves our Philippine area of responsibility.
02:24And according to our latest forecast track, we can see in the central track,
02:28there is a possible landfall scenario in the area of Babuyan Islands
02:33and also in the northern or if not in Babuyan Islands, in the northern part of the mainland of Gagayan.
02:39But because we can see that the area of Northern Luzon is still within our forecast probability cone,
02:47the track of this Marseille storm may go down
02:51and also the landfall scenario in the area of Gagayan and also in Isabela.
02:57So let's just monitor the use of this storm in the next few days.
03:03Possible exit of the storm is on Friday or Saturday morning.
03:10And if we can see here in our latest forecast track,
03:13it will move generally north-westward in the next 24 hours
03:19and it will slowly slow down starting tomorrow,
03:23especially here in the coastal areas of Northern Luzon.
03:27So we saw the satellite image earlier.
03:29We have rain bands around the center of the storm.
03:33So let's hope that starting tomorrow until Friday,
03:37it will be possible to experience rain, especially in the areas closest to the center of this storm,
03:43especially in the areas of Northern Luzon.
03:46So let's prepare for that because it will also be possible to experience rain for a few days.
03:51And according to our forecast track, the radius of this storm is a bit wide.
03:57So it will slowly get closer to our Philippine landmass
04:01and some parts of Northern Luzon will be submerged here in the radius of the storm.
04:05And because it is also wide, while it is close to the land of Northern Luzon,
04:12we can also experience a tropical cyclone wind signal
04:15or it will also be affected by strong winds in the area of Central Luzon.
04:19So for now, over the next 36 hours,
04:22we will be able to experience strong winds in the area of Northern Luzon.
04:26And the highest tropical cyclone wind signal that we will be able to experience in the next few days is signal number 4.
04:33For now, the highest is 5 AM in the coastal areas of Batanes,
04:38along with Babuyan Islands,
04:41and also in the eastern portion of Isabela,
04:43northern portion of Apayao,
04:45and northern portion of Ilocos Norte,
04:47the area that is highlighted or shaded by light blue
04:50that is highlighted by tropical cyclone wind signal number 1.
04:54So for the next 36 hours,
04:56we expect that in the mentioned areas,
04:59we will be able to experience strong winds brought by Hurricane Marseille.
05:08When it comes to rainfall,
05:09we can see that the strong rainfall brought by Hurricane Marseille
05:13is mostly concentrated near the center of the storm.
05:17So for the next few days,
05:18we expect that the strong rainfall will be felt in the area of Northern Luzon.
05:24As early as today,
05:26the possible total 24-hour accumulated rainfall that will be experienced today in Cagayan
05:32can range from 50 to 100 millimeters,
05:35so those are moderate to heavy rainfall.
05:38And starting tomorrow,
05:40the rainfall in Cagayan will gradually increase again.
05:44The rainfall or heavy to intense rainfall can reach 200 millimeters.
05:51Meanwhile, moderate to heavy or 50 to 100 millimeters
05:54when it comes to Batanes and Apayao.
05:58When it comes to Thursday,
05:59because we saw in our latest tropical cyclone
06:03or our forecast track
06:05that the center of Hurricane Marseille will be near Northern Luzon,
06:10you will be able to experience the intense to torrential rainfall
06:14or more than 200 millimeters of total rainfall in the area of Cagayan.
06:19Heavy to intense in Apayao, Ilocos Norte, and Batanes.
06:23And moderate to heavy in Isabela, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Calinga, and Mountain Province.
06:29So in the areas that we mentioned,
06:31especially in the area of Cagayan,
06:32the strong rainfall continued for a few days.
06:36Possible flooding or landslides.
06:39That's why our countrymen are prepared and careful.
06:44When it comes to strong winds,
06:47besides the areas where the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is located,
06:52it is also possible that the winds will blow in some parts of Luzon.
06:56So today, it is possible in Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.
07:02Tomorrow, you will also experience the windy weather in Ilocos Region,
07:07Quezon, Camarines Province, and Catanduanes.
07:11And when it comes to Thursday, you will still experience that in the area of Ilocos Region.
07:17In the condition of our ocean,
07:19as of 5 p.m., we have raised the gale warning in the coastal areas of Batanes, Cagayan,
07:26along with the Babuyan Islands, as well as in the coastal areas of Isabela.
07:30So the waves there are possible to reach up to 5 meters high,
07:34so it is dangerous to cross, especially for our countrymen who have small ocean vehicles.
07:39We also expect moderate to rough seas here in the coastal areas of Luzon.
07:47And that's all, Polites, from the Weather Forecasting Center.
07:50I am Rhea Torres.
07:51Let's continue to be careful.
07:53Good morning and thank you very much.
