The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Signal No. 5 over parts of Batanes on Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, as Super Typhoon “Leon” (international name: Kong-rey) moves closer to extreme Northern Luzon.

As of 10 p.m., the center of the eye of Leon was located 140 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, and is expected to be closest to the province between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, Oct. 31.

00:00Super Typhoon Leon is still approaching Batanes.
00:06And the last time it hit was at 10 p.m.
00:08150 kilometers away from the coast of the town of Basco.
00:12The maximum sustained winds are still 185 kilometers per hour
00:17close to the town of Batanes.
00:19And there is a downpour up to 230 kilometers per hour.
00:23The typhoon is still moving north-south
00:27and slowing down at 15 kilometers per hour.
00:31The typhoon's strength reaches the northern and central Luzon.

04:01in the northern and central portions of Pangasinan,
04:03northern and eastern portions of Nueva Ecija,
04:06and in the northern and central portions of Aurora.
04:10These are the signals No. 1 and No. 2.
04:12Within the next 12 hours or until tomorrow afternoon,
04:15they will still experience a gust of wind
04:18like this Tropical Cyclone Lion,
04:20and we expect in the next few days,
04:23possibly while the storm is rising,
04:25our signals will be reduced here in the central zone
04:28and the southern part of Ilocos, Cordillera, and Cagayan Valley.
04:34Aside from the strong winds,
04:36we will also experience strong rains
04:39in the next 24 hours in a large part of the zone,
04:42especially in the northern and western portions.
04:45We have more than 200 mm of rain
04:48in Batanes and Cagayan,
04:50as well as in Baboyan Islands,

05:37as the Tropical Cyclone Lion rises and leaves Par,

05:45and moderate to heavy rains in Baboyan Islands,
05:48Ilocos Norte, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro,
05:53and Calanian Islands.
05:57Metro Manila,
05:58the remaining part of Luzon,
05:59and the remaining part of Visayas,
06:01will still have dark weather,
06:03especially within the next 24 hours,
06:05and will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms.
06:09Sometimes it gets stronger when we have thunderstorms,
06:11but this is not comparable to the Tropical Cyclone Christine.
06:15So make sure to stay up to date with our updates,
06:18heavy rainfall warnings and rainfall advisories.
06:21Beware of floods,
06:23especially in low-lying areas.

06:30especially in the Cordillera Region and Caraballo Mountains,
