The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Julian” (international name “Krathon”) became a super typhoon while moving slowly away from the country on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the super typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph.

Based on the latest update, the center of Julian was located 205 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes.

The highest tropical cyclone wind warning currently in effect due to Julian is Signal No. 2. PAGASA is no longer expecting to raise Signal No. 5.

01:31The Signa Number 1 is still high in 11 parts of Ilocos Norte,
01:37Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Calinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet.
01:46In 11 parts of Maylan, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, northern portion of Aurora,
01:55and northern portion of Nueva Izija.
02:00Now, we still expect strong winds in Ilocos Region, Cordillera, northern and eastern portion of Maylan, Cagayan,
02:14eastern portion of Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Romblon, and Camarines Norte.
02:25Tomorrow, Wednesday, we still expect strong winds in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Batanes,
02:37Baboyan Islands, northern and eastern portion of Maylan, Cagayan, and eastern portion of Isabela.
02:46Today, we still expect strong rains, intense to torrential rains in Batanes, Baboyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.
03:03Heavy to intense rains in Abra, Apayao, Benguet, and Ilocos Sur.
03:10Moderate to heavy rains in Maylan, Cagayan, and eastern portion of Cordillera and Ilocos Region.
03:18Tomorrow, we still expect heavy to intense rains in Batanes and Baboyan Islands,
03:26while moderate to heavy rains in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
03:32And because of this, we should continue to be careful and alert because the threat of flooding or landslides is still there.
03:46And because of the effect of the typhoon, we still expect high waves in northern Luzon,
03:53where the height of the waves is almost seven meters or almost two floors of the house.
04:02The places still under the Gale Warning are Batanes, Cagayan, along with Baboyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
04:12And because of this, our countrymen are still not allowed to go to the mentioned places,
04:18especially those that use small fishing boats.
