00:00All right, here we go, boys. Tua is set to return this week for the Miami Dolphins versus
00:04the Cardinals. This week he spoke to the media and when asked if he will wear a guardian
00:09cap, he said, no, he would not. And it was a personal choice. Your thoughts on this?
00:13Well, he's right. It's his choice. He doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to do.
00:18You know, he's been cleared to play. He's been practicing. Go, go ahead and play. But
00:23I treat it this way. I mean, if you're asking me, what would I do? I look at this. It's
00:28just like wearing a seatbelt if you're going to wear a guardian cap. You don't have to,
00:32but I'll never get into a car driving a car or being a passenger in a passenger seat of
00:36a car without putting on my seatbelt. In fact, if I were in the NFL, I'd wear a guardian
00:42cap even if I didn't have a concussion. If the evidence shows and the research shows
00:50that it's going to reduce my risk of concussion, I would. And I'm surprised more players don't.
00:55Now, maybe that speaks volumes to where the research and the evidence really is on the
00:58guardian cap. But the fact that it's a possibility out there, I'm surprised more guys don't take
01:02advantage of it.
01:03Well, CBS Sports cited a report that the NFL did an investigation study. The severity of
01:10player impact is reduced by 10 percent with guardian caps. It's reduced by 20 percent
01:15if both players are wearing guardian caps. And look, every little bit helps to his quote
01:20was, hey, I can get into a car crash. Everything I think takes risk. You can get out of bed
01:25the wrong way and sprain your ankle. So that's why we wear seatbelts and that's why our beds
01:30aren't 15 feet off the ground so you don't have to plunge out of them in the morning.
01:35I I'm I just think of this if I were a close friend of his or a family member, I would
01:40be begging him to wear a guardian cap.
01:44So I kind of honestly feel like he might be still concussed. This is like I guess he's
01:48going to wear a, you know, even better helmet that quarterbacks can wear to help protect
01:53him from concussions, which I'm surprised he wasn't already wearing if if if that's
01:57the case. And he said he needs to be smarter about it. Yeah. All those things come into
02:01play. I'm with you, Doug. If I was a family member of his or a close friend, I would be
02:07telling him, listen, man, of course, it's your choice, your personal choice on what
02:10you want to do, play, play without a guardian cap, whatever.
02:13I would personally advise him to not play anymore and think hard about or at least take
02:16a longer take longer time to think about a decision like this, because head injuries
02:21aren't like your knees or ankles where, hey, that kind of lingers.
02:24I'm still hurt. You know, when your concussion, quote unquote, goes away and you're symptom
02:28free, it's almost you feel like you never had one.
02:30Right. So why would you think like, well, I'm fine.
02:33No, this is about future down the line years, whether you're going to play with your kids,
02:38your grandkids, all that stuff. I would be really concerned about that stuff.
02:40It is his choice. I am rooting for him.
02:43But at this point, if something bad does happen, where he's concussed again, it's hard
02:47to feel as bad for him as I would have.
02:49And that's my personal choice.
02:53All right, Devonta Adams, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins, they've already been traded, and
02:58the rumors Cooper Cup could be on the block, and there's other receivers that have been
03:01rumored to be traded as well.
03:02Why is it that so many notable receivers are getting traded?
03:05I think it's an unusually high number of receivers getting hurt this year.
03:09Chris Goblin, Mike Evans in Tampa.
03:11You got Brandon Ayuk.
03:12You got Hollywood Brown, Juju Smith-Schuster, KC, Brandon Cooks and Dallas, Nico Collins
03:17in Houston, Puka in L.A.
03:19Feels like a lot of highly productive wide receivers who've gotten hurt.
03:24And you know, offense wins championships and I think teams know it.
03:27And if you have a chance to win a title and you lose a receiver, I think you're you're in
03:32the market to go get one.
03:33And so I think that's the reason.
03:35I think it's just that it's what the market is this year because all the injuries to the
03:39position.
03:40I think it's a three point plan.
03:41First of all, the Raiders, the Browns and the Titans are terrible teams.
03:46So they're looking to move on from players.
03:48Second part of that is the wide receiver market.
03:50As Doug said, there's a market for the wide receiver and all three of these wide receivers
03:54are north of the age of 30.
03:56OK, so that's that's also why it's there.
03:59And the other thing is.
04:01Wide receivers you can find in the draft through trade and free agency.
04:06You know, if you have a great one, you want to hang on to that great one.
04:08But these guys have already performed great for the majority of their careers.
04:11They're on the downside of their careers.
04:14Yeah, I think it's an easier quick fix.
04:16You know, learn to play, put, get open, catch the ball.
04:18You know, I know it's not that simple, but I mean, that's what they're asking these receivers
04:21to do when they come to these new teams.
04:24I think that you want to it's just something it's easier to upgrade if you lose something
04:29like you said, Doug, to get a receiver than other positions in football and also the teams
04:32trading them.
04:33They're not bad teams more than likely, but they can unload contracts, older players,
04:38and they replace them easier with younger players with less contracts.
04:42With that being said, my prediction is I think John Menchie Menchie from the Texans is the
04:45next guy traded Menchie and he's young Gators.
04:48I just think they just don't have room for whatever reason.
04:50He's a good receiver.
04:51He's young.
04:52Nico Collins is hurt, but still, it's it's the fond eggs and tanked down the other guy.
04:56So that's just a little prediction I have.
04:59All right, Patriots head coach Jared Mayo this week.
05:03Called his team soft to the media publicly.
05:05Do you have a problem with this?
05:07I don't have a problem with this, but you have to understand when you do something like
05:10this, it comes to the risk.
05:11First of all, he better have said that to the team inside the locker room before he
05:15goes outside the locker room and says it to the media.
05:18Because if you haven't, then you're going to lose the team.
05:22But the risk is if you do something like this and you tell these guys to their faces that
05:25they're playing soft, you're either going to find that you piss these guys off in a
05:29good way and they're going to respond to it.
05:32Or you find out that you pissed him off in a bad way and they're going to alienate you
05:36and then you're not going to be around there much longer.
05:39You better have their respect.
05:40Yeah.
05:41If you say something like that, I hope you've earned their respect.
05:44Nick Saban used to say horrific things at the podium about his football team.
05:50And but the team respected him.
05:53So you can get away with it and not get away with it.
05:55But the team will take the message and won't be offended and won't turn on the guy.
06:01I don't know.
06:02I'm not covering that team.
06:03I find it hard to believe he's respected well enough already to be able to say something
06:07like that.
06:08But if he has their respect, it can be effective.
06:11Yes.
06:12So I have a cop out answer a little bit.
06:14Yes and no.
06:15Yes.
06:16I think I would.
06:17I would imagine that he knows his team well enough to say something like this publicly.
06:21But then I say, why do it publicly, though?
06:23I mean, you tell the team yourself in practice, in the locker room, you know, before the game,
06:28after the game, whatever.
06:29Like you, you can tell him because I think NFL players can take it if their coaches call
06:32him soft.
06:33I'm sure they've said worse to their face.
06:34I just don't know if you need to do it to the media.
06:38And I know Jared Mayo, first year head coach, I know he's been there for a long time before
06:41he's been the head coach.
06:42But I think at this point, your team, hopefully he knows the temperature of his team because
06:46this could definitely backfire doing it to the media.
06:49All right.
06:51Who would you rather be right now?
06:53The Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the 49ers?
06:57I'd rather be the Buccaneers.
07:00They obviously lost some players to injury, but I really, really like where Baker is.
07:06And when I've watched the 49ers this year, Purdy doesn't look the same there.
07:11I don't know what's going on with McCaffrey.
07:13Now they've got piling up injuries at wide receiver.
07:16I'd rather be the Buccaneers.
07:17Yeah, I'd rather be Tampa.
07:19I think they have a chance to honestly still win nine or 10 games this year and they can
07:23still swing a trade for a wide receiver after they lost the two guys last week.
07:29San Francisco is in trouble.
07:30They've got a tougher schedule, much tougher schedule that may only yield that the season's
07:34in eight or nine wins.
07:37But are they getting McCaffrey back?
07:38I think they are.
07:40So at some point that's going to help them out.
07:41But I still think Tampa is in better, in a better state.
07:44So you know, I asked this question because I mean, the Bucs are in an easier division,
07:48you would think.
07:49And they have a better record.
07:50They're above .500.
07:51The Niners are in a tougher division, but with the worst record.
07:53But you eyeball tests and you're like, well, the Niners have a better roster.
07:57They have more talent.
07:59In the end, I end up going, I'd rather be the Niners because I just believe in that
08:02talent and that roster more.
08:03I think they have a better defense.
08:05The Bucs, those injuries on offense are going to really hurt and put some stress on Baker's
08:09arm because he's going to have to really run an offense now without Mike Evans and Godwin.
08:15And they also have a really tough schedule coming up the next three or four weeks.
08:18I don't know if they can survive it.
08:19I think maybe Atlanta kind of ends up taking this division.
08:22So I'm just going to take the Niners because I think the roster is better.
08:24But part of that tough schedule is they play San Francisco.
08:27And if you look past those next three games, it lightens up significantly for Tampa Bay.
08:31Yeah, I think they lose against the Falcons.
08:32I think they lose against the Niners.
08:34So this could be bad.
08:36All right.
08:39More impressive.
08:40The 49ers wide receiver, Ricky Pearsall, three catches, 21 yards.
08:44This is 50 days after being shot.
08:47Or the Browns running back, Nick Chubb, 11 carries, 22 yards and a touchdown, 398 days
08:52after a very bad, horrific knee injury.
08:55Look, I think it's more impressive that Ricky Pearsall has come back from getting shot.
09:01I think the trauma alone would be a massive setback.
09:05The fact that you were shot.
09:07Coming back from a knee injury, look, that's part of the bargain that you make of becoming
09:11an NFL player.
09:13Injuries are a risk.
09:14It's not going to happen.
09:15You're not expecting to go out and get shot.
09:17So and he's had a year to recover from the knee injury.
09:20I'm impressed by guys that come back and that's great.
09:23But Ricky Pearsall got shot less than two months ago.
09:26You know, if you survive a shooting, I feel like you probably are part superhero.
09:32So that's really cool.
09:34But clearly, when he got shot, there was some degree of superficial wound, just a flesh
09:39wound maybe.
09:41And that's why he's allowed to come back.
09:42I'm going with Chubb.
09:44The way that knee bent, plus I saw the knee.
09:46I did not see Ricky Pearsall get shot.
09:48So visuals helped with me.
09:49All right.
09:50Tough call.
09:51I mean, Pearsall, he almost died, but he didn't.
09:54And apparently it shouldn't really affect his career.
09:56He'll be fine.
09:57Nick Chubb, he might not ever be the same.
10:00So with that being said, I'm going to give it to Nick Chubb because he does go back to
10:03the scene of the crime every Sunday.
10:06And I think that could weigh on you.
10:07You could think about it.
10:08Maybe you don't.
10:09But for me right now, I'm going to give it to Chubb while I still can, because who knows
10:12his career may be done after this year.
10:14Yeah, dude almost died, but it's OK.
10:16Good call.
10:17Well, it's my choice, right?
10:18Gator?
10:19Yeah.
10:20Way to go, Tua.
10:21Personal choice.
10:23All right, Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey missed practice because he was selected for jury
10:27duty.
10:28He was actually selected for the 12 person jury, and it's a felony case, but apparently
10:32you don't have to be on lockdown or anything like this, so he will kick this weekend.
10:35But have you ever been selected for a jury?
10:37And if so, what was the case?
10:41Never have.
10:42Never have.
10:43I went in for jury duty once, sat in the courtroom, got dismissed.
10:46That's the extent of my jury duty experience.
10:48Right away?
10:49Yep.
10:50I've been in a jury room twice.
10:52The first time I got selected, second time I did not get selected.
10:54The first time was in the mid 90s, early to mid 90s.
10:58I was excited to serve because I wanted to experience what that was like.
11:02Now I wouldn't want to do it again, but if you have to, you got to.
11:05It was a criminal sexual conduct three case.
11:09So it was involved a man who was, I think, in his 40s that was alleged to have molested
11:16a girl in a pool at a trailer park.
11:21And he ended up getting acquitted and looked like he could not have been more relieved
11:27after that happened.
11:28It was an interesting case.
11:29I still remember some details to this day and reasons why I voted the way I did in the
11:33jury room and others did too.
11:35Good experience.
11:37I've never, I've been selected to be possibly on the jury two times and the last time was
11:41downtown Detroit.
11:42Last year was a federal case.
11:43It was tax evasion.
11:44I made it past the first couple of cuts which had me sweating, but ultimately they let me
11:50go and I was not chosen for the 12 person jury.
11:53Thank God.
11:54I didn't want to experience that, that like you did Gator.
11:56So I'm out.
11:57See you later guys.
11:58Good luck.
11:59Like tax evasion.
12:00Are you a CPA?
12:01I was doing, I was answering everything I could to not be on that jury.
12:05Trust me.
12:06I hate CPAs.
12:07I love CPAs.
12:08Is this really like where you want to jury your peers to have some guy who's got nothing
12:11to do with taxes?
12:12You know what I wouldn't want on my jury?
12:13Somebody who's not good with math.
12:15What is the percentage I get on this jury?
12:20And that concludes the Y9 Omaha 4 Down Around the League Blitz thing.
