00:00Hi, I'm Theo with Manchester world and today's video is all about half term and that's because it is pretty much here now and parents
00:05And families will be scrambling around trying to find things to do to keep themselves occupied
00:09So I'm on my way to the final piece of the puzzle now
00:11But what you're going to see in the meantime
00:13Is a couple of clips from some of my favorite places that I've visited over the last couple of months that are perfect for families
00:19During half term. So let's start off with the Museum of illusions
00:22Which is based on Market Street and is a fairly new open in Manchester
00:26Tickets cost around sort of 15 to 20 pounds per person and you can go in there and spend as long as you want
00:31they've got great rooms like this the symmetry room where you can make it look like you split down the middle to a sort of
00:36Color matching tiles and trying to just figure out how these illusions make sense at all. They can really send your head west
00:42so this is the vortex tunnel, which is spinning and the idea is that it makes you believe that the
00:48Don't laugh at me
00:53It makes you feel like you the whole world's spinning and you can't help but like bump yourself off the walls
00:59You could easily kill a couple of hours in here. So please give it a go
01:02It's perfect for half-term secondly at the National Football Museum
01:05You can see him here with a couple of trophies and they've also got some great memorabilia sections as well from Euro
01:112000 Pringles to really old footballs to Vuvuzelas and just the stuff from literally every club in England
01:19So if you go down you will be represented. I guarantee you there's great activities and on the top floor
01:23There's a really cool art exhibition which is celebrating specific players from English football next
01:28We're going to talk about challenge point, which is a really fun sort of TV game show based
01:32Escape room type thing where you go in you've got seven different challenges to do some of them include avoiding lasers
01:38Like you can see me awkwardly trying to do here
01:40Some of them is as though you're in supermarkets sweep. You've got a scan specific things
01:44It's a competition with other teams that come along on the day. So there's a competitive aspect there, too
01:48There's lots of different things to get your teeth into it's a lot of fun and it's really rewarding too as well
01:53It's been a good way of tiring out the kids next Roxy ballroom. This has been a Manchester staple for a long long time
01:59It's maybe a bit more suited to a slightly older crowd
02:02But you've got a lot of fun options in here from the new shuffle and dance tech which are sort of electric forms of the
02:07Original games which allow you to play different modes to their crazy pool, which is a bit like mini-golf
02:12but obviously on pool tables to the classic bowling there are tons of things to fill your time a great range of drinks if you're
02:18Old enough and a great range of things to do just to kill some time over half term and have some fun with the whole
02:23Family now if none of those things seem necessarily up your alley or due to the cost of living you think you're worried about
02:29Expense there are still lots of great free things that you can do around Manchester and for the younger kids
02:35Well, I'm on my way to a brand new Paddington statue
02:38So this is one of just many Paddington statues that's popped up across the UK ahead of the release of the film Paddington in Peru
02:43And it's the perfect little free
02:45Easy thing that you can set your kids on a little treasure hunt to try and find him and have a picture with him
02:50So for now, there's lots to do there for half term and we hope that you found some inspiration for it
02:55There's lots more on our website as well. So follow Manchester world for more and enjoy your half term
