00:00Hello there and welcome to your weekend forecast issued this Thursday. Well we hang on to the
00:06warmth into the weekend but the key feature of the weather will be the wind, a significant
00:11southerly wind which will keep things very blustery on Saturday and then on Sunday we'll
00:16see some showery rain moving across the country. Before that perhaps even one or two thundery
00:20showers later on Saturday. The bigger picture, the high is drifted towards the near continent.
00:26We do have a flow of wind coming up from the south and a waft of warm air covering the
00:31country through Saturday. So that means shelter spots, particularly across the northwest highlands,
00:37we'll see some very high temperatures through a Saturday afternoon and certainly for the
00:42south the temperatures climbing up into the mid-twenties. So let's put some detail on
00:48that through the morning. So it's a breezy morning but it is a bright one, most of us
00:52seeing some lovely sunshine. Through the morning one or two light showers could just
00:57crop up towards the west there and later on an increasing chance perhaps they could turn
01:02thundery but they will be few and far between and most areas will remain dry. Certainly
01:07a lot of sunshine to end the day across the bulk of the country but it will be a windy
01:12one. Windy particularly exposed to that southerly wind and over the highlands it really will
01:18be howling a gale for a time. So a windy afternoon but also a bright afternoon with
01:24some warm sunshine as temperatures rise very nicely to around 22, 23, 24 Celsius. You could
01:31even see a 26 locally help with that sun. So through Saturday evening watch out for
01:37one or two thundery showers. Again the breeze continues and then we watch as this weather
01:43front slowly moves in. We'll be tracking from the south-west up towards the north-east
01:49through Sunday. First thing on Sunday morning though not particularly a cold start to the
01:54day with that wind but certainly there will be some showers around and those showers should
01:58merge to form perhaps a longer spell for a time as this system moves towards northern
02:04England, northern Ireland, covering much of the Midlands and up towards Scotland. Showery
02:08bursts of rain. In between we will see some brighter weather. The wind is perhaps not
02:12as strong behind the front there, even so a breezy day and temperatures not as high
02:18as they have been. So we should see values still in the high teens or even the low 20s
02:25all in all though with an onshore breeze towards the eastern part of Scotland, the mid-teens
02:30here. And this heralds a change in our weather as we head through to next week. So we're
02:35likely to see the weather turn a lot more unsettled and with that the winds will pick
02:41up from time to time so some stronger winds keeping temperatures by night not as low as
02:46what we've seen and a succession of weather fronts will bring with them rain or showers.
02:52So a transition from high pressure to low pressure through next week. Bye bye.
