00:29Nehemiah chapter 2, verse 1 through 6,
00:34reading from the New Living Translation of the Scriptures.
00:37Notice there these words,
00:39Early the following spring, in the month of Nisan,
00:43during the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes reign,
00:47I was serving the king his wine,
00:50and I had never before appeared sad in his presence.
00:54So the king asked me, Why are you looking so sad?
00:58You don't look sick to me. You must be deeply troubled.
01:02Then I was terrified, but I replied, Long live the king!
01:06How can I not be sad?
01:08For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins,
01:11and the gates have been destroyed by fire.
01:14The king asked, Well, how can I help you?
01:18With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied,
01:23If it pleases the king,
01:26and if you are pleased with me, your servant,
01:28send me to Judah to rebuild the city
01:31where my ancestors are buried.
01:34The king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked,
01:37How long will you be gone?
01:39When will you return?
01:41And after I told him how long I would be gone,
01:43the king agreed to my request.
01:46I want to talk today from the subject simply,
01:48Courage to rebuild.
01:50Courage.
01:53Courage to rebuild.
01:56There are inevitable things that can happen
01:58over the course of your life,
02:00over the course of your days,
02:02situations that you never banked on or planned on,
02:05where things wind up in ruin in your life.
02:10And here is Nehemiah, just God's servant.
02:14He's the king's cupbearer.
02:17It's not that he holds an elected position
02:20in government per se,
02:22he's close to power.
02:25And sometimes God just needs somebody
02:27who is close to power.
02:30And not just anybody, but when you're close to power,
02:32it's important how you serve.
02:36Because you don't have favor with people
02:39that don't like you.
02:42And when you haven't done a good job,
02:44you don't have the right to open your mouth
02:46and ask for anything.
02:49But Nehemiah was an exceptional server.
02:52He knew how to serve with excellence
02:54and with attention to detail
02:56and with a great attitude
02:58because it was his pleasure.
03:01And so all of the years that he had served the king,
03:04the king said,
03:05I have never once seen you come in here
03:07with a bad attitude.
03:08I've never seen you sad.
03:10I've never seen you bring the issues
03:12that you were dealing with in your personal life
03:14on the job.
03:16I've never seen you like that.
03:18He had a character, a reputation of excellence
03:21in how he had served to such a degree
03:24that the king was willing to do anything
03:26to be able to make this man happy.
03:29So he had qualified himself
03:31by how he served,
03:34the way that he had served the king.
03:36And so he said,
03:37you don't look sick to me.
03:38He said, but Nehemiah,
03:39this is out of character for you
03:41because you've always been a cheerful person.
03:43Nobody wants to be served by somebody
03:45with a bad attitude.
03:48And so he qualified himself
03:50and the excellence of his service
03:53gave God an ability.
03:56He gave the king an ability
03:58to be able to have,
04:00to give him carte blanche with him
04:02to say, hey, what can I do?
04:04And he had to be ready to know
04:06what he needed in order to get out of trouble.
04:09Sometimes you need to know
04:11what it is that you need
04:13if somebody's going to help you to rebuild.
04:15They need to be able to see your plan.
04:17They need to know how long it's going to take.
04:19You need to be focused.
04:20This man was ready though.
04:22So when he said, how long are you going to be gone?
04:24When are you going to return?
04:25He had to have an answer ready for them.
04:27So he was ready with specificity
04:29that required his prayer.
04:32It required his planning
04:33and being able to actually have the courage
04:36to be able to rebuild something.
04:37But here, Nehemiah's heart was broken
04:40because his hometown was in ruin.
04:43He was grieved.
04:45He was broken.
04:47He cried.
04:49He prayed.
04:50He started planning
04:52and he started preparing
04:54and then he started rebuilding.
04:57And so it's not that he was
05:00just totally confident in doing this.
05:03You've got to learn when you've got something
05:05that needs to be done.
05:07If you've got to build,
05:08building is intimidating.
05:10And it will require courage.
05:12And that's why this message is entitled
05:14Courage to Rebuild.
05:16Because if your life has fallen to pieces,
05:19you need courage to rebuild.
05:21If your credit is going to pot,
05:23you need courage to be able to rebuild your courage,
05:26your credit rapport,
05:28your credit score,
05:29your reputation.
05:31It takes courage to rebuild your family.
05:33It takes courage to rebuild a community.
05:35It takes courage to rebuild a business.
05:38It takes courage.
05:40Whenever something needs to be rebuilt,
05:42it takes courage.
05:43If you've experienced a storm
05:45and then after the storm,
05:46you've got the daunting task to rebuild.
05:49It takes courage to rebuild.
05:52And courage is not doing something
05:54in the absence of fear.
05:56It's being scared to death saying,
05:57Lord, I don't know how you're going to work this out.
05:59I don't know how you're going to come through.
06:01I don't know who you're going to use
06:03and what you're going to use
06:04and how you're going to do it
06:05and when you're going to do it, God,
06:06but I'm trusting you.
06:07I'm scared to death, but I'm doing it anyway.
06:09Courage is nothing more than fear
06:12that has said its prayers.
06:17And sometimes you've got to be afraid,
06:19but yet, God, I stretch my hands to Thee.
06:23Nor the help I know if Thou withdraw Thyself from me.
06:26Lord, where am I going to go?
06:28Courage is nothing more than fear
06:32that has said its prayers.
06:33And so sometimes when it's time for you to rebuild,
06:36you've got to say your prayers.
06:39Because everybody is dealing with something
06:41that needs to be rebuilt.
06:42It may be your health.
06:44But everybody is dealing with something
06:46that needs to be rebuilt.
06:47It might be your marriage.
06:48It might be your family.
06:49It might be your credit score.
06:51It might be something around your house.
06:53But everybody is working on something
06:55that needs to be rebuilt
06:57that is not as good and as strong
06:59as what it used to be.
07:00But building is not for the faint of heart.
07:02Trust me.
07:03Whatever you build, if you're going to build anything,
07:05it is not for the faint of heart.
07:07And so you've got to have courage.
07:09Building will always cost you something.
07:12It may cost you your pride.
07:13It may cost you your sleep.
07:15It will cost you something to build,
07:17and it'll cost you something to rebuild.
07:19It will always cost you something.
07:21Don't be afraid to pay the price, though.
07:24I want you to hear the Word of the Lord,
07:261 Peter chapter 5 and verse 10.
07:28Notice what the Word of the Lord says.
07:30The Word of the Lord says,
07:31after you have suffered a little while...
07:33Now, did it say before or after?
07:36It said...
07:37I know we want it before, before.
07:39But He says after you have suffered,
07:41after you have suffered,
07:43not after everything has gone well and hunky-dory.
07:45After you have suffered a little while,
07:48the God of all grace,
07:50who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ,
07:54will Himself...
07:55There are certain things that God will do Himself.
07:57There's some things that He'll send somebody else to do,
07:59but there's something that God Himself will restore.
08:02Something that God Himself will confirm.
08:05Something that God Himself will strengthen.
08:07Something that God Himself will establish and reestablish.
08:11There are some times that He'll send somebody else,
08:13and then there are other times that God Himself...
08:16After, after...
08:18Everybody say after.
08:19After, after you've gone through a little something.
08:22After you've been up.
08:23After you've been stressed out.
08:25After you've been tired.
08:26After you have given, have done all that you've done.
08:29And you're just standing after, after.
08:32You have suffered a little while.
08:34After, after.
08:35It's time to rebuild.
08:37There's something that you need to rise up in your life
08:40and to rebuild that is worth rebuilding
08:42because it has value to you.
08:44It means something to you.
08:46What is it that means something to you
08:49that is worth your having the courage
08:52to say, God, help me to be able to rebuild this.
08:55Help me to be able to rebuild this for your glory.
08:58Your heart needs to be broken over something.
09:01You see, God builds His church.
09:03It's His church.
09:05He builds it, but He uses us.
09:07He allows us to participate in the process.
09:10So we are active participators
09:13in whatever it is that God is building.
09:15And I want you to think about this.
09:17Do you think that God will restore and confirm you
09:22and strengthen you and establish you
09:26and then just let you sit around and do nothing?
09:30Do you really honestly think
09:33that God's gonna strengthen you and confirm you
09:36and settle you, establish your life
09:39and then let you do nothing?
09:42If He does establish you and if He does strengthen you,
09:45it's because He's got a mission for you.
09:48He's got a mission.
09:52And whatever God has brought you through,
09:55whatever He has strengthened you through,
09:58whatever He has confirmed you through,
10:01whatever God has been able to establish you through,
10:05He's gonna send some other people around you
10:09that'll be able to bear witness
10:12to some of the things that you've gone through.
10:15Because there's nothing like having somebody else
10:19who can identify with what you're talking about.
10:23I mean, it's one thing for you to be
10:26carrying something on the inside of you
10:29and then talking to somebody who's barren.
10:32They don't know what it's like to feel a baby kick on the inside.
10:36You need somebody around you
10:39that also feels something kicking
10:41so when they're working on something, they understand.
10:44You need somebody that knows what it's like
10:47when you got everything that you own on the line
10:50and you're going for broke
10:53and you're working your fingers to the bone
10:56and you've prayed every prayer that you know to pray
10:59and you've searched up under every rock
11:02and you've been abused and you've been misused.
11:05Listen, you are not in this thing alone.
11:08God's gonna bring some other abused people around you
11:11that know how to understand what you're talking about
11:14and some other people that's been mistreated
11:17and some other people that have gone through brokenness
11:20and some other people that are dealing with shame.
11:23He's gonna bring somebody else who understands
11:26so when you speak, your words will reverberate within their hearts
11:29and they'll say, I feel you. I understand you.
11:32I know what you're talking about. I know what you're talking about.
11:35So that's one type of person that once you've gone through something
11:38when you're rebuilding, God will bring other people that are also rebuilders
11:41that says, I know what it's like to have your children crazy
11:44and you're working your fingers to the bone trying to keep everything together
11:47and your children are cutting the food.
11:50I know what it's like to be married to somebody.
11:53Then God will bring some other people that understand your pain
11:56just to be able to speak your language
11:59and sometimes they become the proof positive that what you're going through
12:02that there is deliverance here.
12:05That God will be able to see you through that.
12:08Just as a testimony to strengthen you
12:11and to confirm that if he could do it for one
12:14the same God who is no respecter of person
12:17will also bring you out.
12:20And then there's another kind of person that God will bring around you.
12:23He'll bring other people around you to whom you are designed to minister
12:26that need what you've been through.
12:29The brokenness that you've gone through.
12:32The pain that you've gone through. The shame that you've gone through.
12:35Somebody else needs what God has done in you
12:38and is doing in you
12:41and God will bring them as an audience around you
12:44because they're not just there by accident, coincidence or chance.
12:47It's because you've got something
12:50and God has delivered something on the inside of you.
12:53He's birthed something and you felt something kicking on the inside of you
12:56so you'd be able to talk to other people
12:59and be able to become the proof positive that God is faithful
13:02that he has ever promised in his life.
13:05So there's something in the rebuilding stage
13:08that God's going to bring somebody who's carrying something else
13:11and this is why it was so critical for Mary to be reconnected
13:14in her life to her own relative Elizabeth
13:17who was six months ahead of her in her pregnancy.
13:20And so she was carrying something that was a miracle
13:23something that was scary because here she was pregnant
13:26and didn't have a husband.
13:29And she was hearing rumors and the whispers of people
13:32every time that she went somewhere and she needed somebody
13:35that was also carrying a miracle because Elizabeth was an old woman
13:38who was also pregnant. So she's carrying a miracle
13:41because she was too old to be having a baby
13:44but yet she was having one. Elizabeth was having one.
13:47And now here Mary is a young girl but she's carrying a baby
13:50but has never known a man. She's carrying a miracle.
13:53And so the Lord hooked the two together
13:56and said, I'm going to bring somebody in proximity with you
13:59who's working on something just like you're working on something.
14:02They're building another life just like you're building another life.
14:05And He says, I'm going to bring them somebody in your proximity
14:08who's six months ahead of you just to let you know
14:11you can make it too. You are somebody's reason
14:14for not giving up.
14:17You are somebody's reason
14:20for not giving up.
14:23And I just want you to know that whenever you're rebuilding something
14:26you have to go back to the foundations.
14:29I understand it from an apostolic perspective.
14:32That's what apostles do.
14:35Apostles are foundation layers.
14:38May you be reminded that the church
14:41the churches are built on what God does
14:44through the apostles and the prophets.
14:47They remain steadfast in the apostles
14:50in the apostles and the prophets doctrine.
14:53It becomes foundational to establishing the local church.
14:56So God always uses foundational people
14:59to help you. So whenever you are
15:02building or rebuilding you've got to go back
15:05to foundational things. And Jesus is a cornerstone
15:08that's a foundational thing.
15:11So it takes an apostolic voice
15:14to even be able to call the work of rebuilding back
15:17into order. And may I just remind you in Isaiah chapter 58
15:20it talks about the kind of fasting
15:23that God chooses to do
15:26His bidding in the earth.
15:29If you'll notice Isaiah chapter 58
15:32verse 11 and 12 notice this.
15:35And the Lord will guide you continually
15:38and satisfy your desire in scorched places.
15:41A scorched place is a dry place. Have you ever been in a dry place?
15:44Listen, God says if you're going to fast
15:47Isaiah 58. Fasting is one of the fastest
15:50ways to let your health start springing back.
15:53Sometime if you stop eating
15:56the stuff that's killing you anyway.
15:59Look back at the word of the Lord here
16:02in Isaiah chapter 58 verse 11. And the Lord
16:05will guide you continually. Not every now and then. He'll guide you
16:08continually and He will satisfy your desire.
16:11God will scratch that itch.
16:14Even when you're in a scorched place, a dry place.
16:17Ever been in a dry place? God says God will feel that.
16:20And He'll make your bones strong. God goes down
16:23into the bones where your cells are manufactured.
16:26Healing begins to spring forth out of the marrow
16:29of your bones. And God will continually
16:32satisfy your desire in a dry place, a scorched place
16:35and He will make your bones strong.
16:38That's what happens when people as they get old, their bones get weak.
16:41But He will make your bones strong and you shall be like
16:44a watered garden. Like a spring of water
16:47whose waters do not fail. And then
16:50notice verse 12. And your ancient ruins
16:53shall be rebuilt. There's that
16:56rebuilding again. Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt and you
16:59shall raise up the foundation. There's that foundations again
17:02of many generations and you shall be called the repairer
17:05of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.
17:08God's gonna use some people under the
17:11sound of my voice to help rebuild and restore some order.
17:14He's using some people that have some eyes to say things are crazy
17:17now. And we need some people in position. We need
17:20people in government. We need people in the business world
17:23that know how to rebuild some sanity
17:26in our culture. Some decency in our
17:29culture. Some respect in our culture.
17:32Some foundational thing that make us human
17:35once again in our culture. He's looking for rebuilders
17:38who have the ability to be able to raise up foundations
17:41of many generations. A repairer of the breach
17:44because we've had some breaches. Breaches of trust.
17:47Breaches of their own word. We've had
17:50breaches and now we need repairers of the breach.
17:53And may I just say this to you. A repairer of
17:56the breach spiritually is one who restores
17:59the right way beginning with himself or herself.
18:02Beginning with themselves. Leadership
18:05is not about leading other people. Leadership is about
18:08leading yourself in a way that inspires other people
18:11to follow you.
18:14And so
18:17when you're gonna be a repairer of the breach, it is
18:20one who is resigned in their own heart
18:23to restore the right way beginning
18:26with himself, beginning with herself. And notice
18:29what Isaiah chapter 57 and verse 14 says
18:32And it shall be said, Build up!
18:35Build up! Prepare the way! Remove
18:38every obstruction from my people's way.
18:41It's amazing how when people want to do
18:44evil they start creating obstructions.
18:47Obstructions.
18:50Obstructions.
18:53Whenever they don't want to do the right thing.
18:56But before we rebuild, we must remove
18:59the obstructions that have been stumbling blocks.
19:02Because when obstacles
19:05need to be moved, somebody has got to move them.
19:08And removing obstructions
19:11involves a few things. Number one
19:14I would say it involves fasting. You need to be able to remove
19:17some obstruction, you need to go on a fast. Turn your
19:20head down. This is called
19:23dying to your flesh. It's called killing
19:26what's killing you. It's called healing
19:29before you start building.
19:32This is also when you need to fast
19:35you need power sufficiently so that your spiritual ear is
19:38attuned to know how to deal with demons
19:41that have been plaguing your life. Fasting, fasting
19:44it sensitizes you to the Holy Ghost. Fasting
19:47causes your health to spring forth speedily. Fasting
19:50you need to remove some things, you need to rebuild
19:53some things in your life, you need to get your focus back
19:56you need to get your mind back, your sobriety back, you need to get your fire back
19:59your sense of passion and your sense of direction
20:02go on a fast. Turn your plate down.
20:05It'll make you really serious and really focus on what really
20:08matters in life. Fasting removes
20:11obstacles. Number two, blasting, blasting, blasting
20:15Listen, before we built this cathedral, when I purchased this land here
20:18do you know that there was so much rock here? You're sitting
20:21in a cathedral here that was built on a rock. We
20:24spent two million dollars blasting rock out of the ground
20:27before we could even pour the first bit of
20:30concrete to be able to build this cathedral. Before we could build
20:33we had to lay a foundation. We had to blast
20:36rock out of the way. There are some things that if you're gonna
20:39build, there's some things that you got to blast out of the way. Are you listening?
20:43It takes blasting. It takes fasting. It takes
20:46blasting, fasting, blasting. Number 30, it takes
20:49burning. We had some folks when they
20:52built one of the places where
20:55I moved into, we had a sink
20:58hole in the back of this because they dumped all
21:01of the debris, the trees and roots and all of this kind of stuff and then
21:04over time that stuff started decaying.
21:07Instead of that hauling it off and burning it, dealing
21:10away with it in a proper way, they disposed of it
21:13in an improper way and it caused a sink hole on my property
21:16because they took a shortcut.
21:19And it can undermine structure.
21:22When people take a shortcut it ends up being
21:25the longest way. It's amazing.
21:28So when you're talking about if you
21:31need to remove obstructions, fasting,
21:34blasting and then burning. You know what burning is about?
21:37Burning is about kindling something.
21:40You know what the word kindle means? It means to start a fire.
21:43It means to stir up. You actually start
21:46a fire by taking dry things and rubbing it
21:49together but it happens. Fire is created by
21:52movement. You can take some dry
21:55sticks and start rubbing them together until all of a sudden
21:58a burning happens and people are waiting for a burning to happen
22:01while they're sitting on the premises. But you got
22:04to start moving. You got to start doing something.
22:07You got to get in motion. You got to start moving and it is
22:10the friction of something that is moving that begins
22:13to cause the burning. And when you're
22:16trying to remove obstruction, somebody
22:19is going to have to start rubbing something together
22:22in a movement that begins to cause
22:25fire to start sparking up. That's a kindling.
22:28This is why the Bible says stir up the gift of God that is within you.
22:31That is a kindling. Kindle the fire
22:34that's on the inside of you. Kindle it. Kindle your
22:37fire. Don't let your fire go out. Kindle it. If your fire goes
22:40out it's because you stopped moving. You need to
22:43go back to moving. You need to get close to something.
22:46You get too many people that got too much... their wood is wet.
22:49You don't start fire with wet wood. You got
22:52to find something dry and then you start
22:55moving. And let me just remind you of this
22:58that whenever there has been a setback
23:01in your life, God is looking for
23:04somebody who's willing to sacrifice
23:07in order to build back.
23:10Whenever you've dealt with a setback
23:13it requires sacrifice to build back.
23:16He's looking for somebody who will sacrifice
23:19something to be able to build back. I want you to notice
23:22what Jeremiah chapter 6 and verse 16 says. This is what the
23:25verse says. Stand at the crossroads and look.
23:28You ever been at a crossroads in your life where you don't know
23:31what to do? Stand at the crossroads and look and ask
23:34for the ancient paths. Ask for the
23:37ancient paths. Ask where
23:40the good way is and walk in it
23:43and you will find rest for your souls.
23:46But you said we will not walk in it.
23:49Now I want you to notice this. The ancient path, the ancient
23:52Let me just tell you this. Wisdom of the
23:55ages is better than knowledge of the moment.
23:58Wisdom of the ages is better than knowledge
24:01of the moment. He says when you're at a crossroads
24:04in your life, ask where is the ancient
24:07path. You know what the ancient path is a
24:10symbol for? It is a reference for God's
24:13timeless truth and God's
24:16standards. This is a picture
24:19of God's timeless truths and
24:22his standards. Ask where is the
24:25God's standard here? Where is that that is built on something
24:28that is solid that moving forth generations down
24:31the road this will still be solid. Not what is
24:34popular today. You cannot build on
24:37popularity. You have to build on truth.
24:40When he says ask for the old ancient paths
24:43he's saying where are the ways of God
24:46that stood on the truths of God that
24:49passed the test of time. They've already stood
24:52the test of time. It's God's truth and
24:55God's standards. So Nehemiah was
24:58one of those who was a repairer of the breach
25:01but he was troubled by his own conditions
25:04in his own hometown and this is what I would say that
25:07sometimes God will give you a holy discontent.
25:10Holy discontent often leads you to
25:13a path of discovery and change
25:16that empowers you to make a difference in your sphere of
25:19influence in God's kingdom on earth. Sometimes God
25:22will make you, he'll put a holy discontent on the inside of you.
25:25You ought to be discontented about some stuff if it's not
25:28right. Holy discontent it often
25:31leads you to a path of discovery and
25:34change that empowers you to be able to make a difference
25:37in your sphere of influence in God's
25:40kingdom in the earth. Maybe if it
25:43vexes you, maybe you're the one who's
25:46called to do something about it. That's one of
25:49the ways anything that I have ever changed, anything
25:52that I've ever been used of God to change is because
25:55it was something that vexed me that said this ought
25:58not to be. And until we develop a
26:01holy discontent about what ought not to be
26:04then you won't have enough courage to stand up
26:07and do something about it. And so
26:10holy discontent it often comes
26:13in our path of discovery
26:16and change that empowers us to be able to make a difference
26:19in the spheres of influence that God has
26:22given to us in his kingdom here in the earth.
26:25You know what God does? He'll take somebody
26:28who wasn't even thinking about anything and all of a sudden
26:31he'll just start letting it bother you.
26:34God will give you a holy discontent. You don't give it to yourself
26:37you're just wondering why does this bother me?
26:40But you just realize this is not right. This is not right.
26:43He let it bother you because that means you're supposed to do something about it.
26:46You're only bothered
26:49about stuff that you have an anointing to do something about.
26:52You know
26:55the people that are bothered by hearing sour notes
26:58in music are the ones that are musically inclined.
27:01People that are tone deaf they can't hear it.
27:04But if you know music it's like no they didn't.
27:10When you are a well organized person
27:13and you walk into somebody's space and it is totally chaotic
27:16and disorganized that clutter
27:19frustrates you
27:22because you got a gift of organization.
27:25So I am frustrated and have a holy
27:28discontent about what I've got an anointing
27:31to be able to do something about.
27:34It bothers me when I hear ignorance.
27:49I had a university president
27:52I was in a meeting one day and I said a word and the president asked me
27:55was that a real word? I said do you think I'd use it if it were not?
28:01Excuse me
28:04let me expand your vocabulary.
28:15But whatever you've got an anointing in
28:18a grace or strength in
28:21if you see it not done right
28:25and you bring something to me that is bland
28:28I'm like what is
28:31who made the potato salad?
28:41It bothers me if I know how to do it right
28:44and I see you doing it wrong because I know
28:47how it's supposed to be done.
28:50Why do you think that God would come in and disturb
28:53people that are comfortable and yet then
28:56comfort people who have been disturbed?
28:59That's the double-sided anointing of this double-edged sword
29:02of God. He disturbs the comfortable
29:05and comforts the disturbed.
29:12My question to you is what burdens you?
29:15What burdens you? Nehemiah did
29:18something about his hometown because his
29:21heart was burdened. His heart was burdened.
29:24A troubled heart
29:27is oftentimes an entry place
29:30that God uses in a process of being able
29:33to shift us in our seasons of life.
29:36When God begins to allow
29:39your desires to begin to change
29:42after a while, I mean at some point
29:45if you've been out in that club in life
29:48and all of that drinking life and that wildlife
29:51after a while at some point you need to wake up and say
29:54you know what I'm going to do over this foolishness.
29:57I mean at some point
30:00I mean when you got to take
30:07in a low car and it takes you a few minutes to even get up
30:10out of the car to try to hobble in the club
30:14you need to carry your behind home and get into bed.
30:17I mean at some point
30:20you got to just realize
30:23that what's bothering me right now is
30:26really an indication of a shift of season
30:29that he's trying to grow me out of this craziness that I've been in.
30:35What burdens you? What burdens you?
30:38What is it that troubles your heart?
30:42The Bible says of Jesus, Luke chapter 19
30:45in verse 10, the Son of Man
30:48is come to seek and to save that
30:51which was lost. It's not merely who but also that.
30:54There's some things that God wants to restore
30:57in the earth and he's looking for Nehemiah's
31:00who have a burden to be able to restore
31:03foundational things. That which was lost
31:06not merely just the who, he came to seek and save that
31:09which was lost, souls included
31:12but the that.
31:15So what do you need to rebuild that's been destroyed?
31:18Your morals, your values, your convictions, your trust
31:21your marriage, your family, your health, your motivation
31:24your confidence, your business, your credit score
31:27what is it that's been destroyed that you need to rebuild?
31:30And I love this, I love this that
31:33they're your failures that teach you much more
31:36than your successes ever will.
31:39And if you have failed, goody
31:42because your failure has a way of
31:45bringing your humility into perspective
31:48because if you won all of the time and never
31:51ever lost, your arrogance
31:54would offend people just when you walk by.
31:57I love the words of
32:00Jim Collins, I went out and spent a whole day with him
32:03he said this, that the signature of greatness
32:06is not an unblemished record
32:09it's the ability to come back from the edge
32:12and become stronger than before.
32:15It's not an unblemished record, it's the
32:18ability to come back from the edge
32:21and become stronger than before.
32:24May I just tell you this
32:27the great shame in life is not
32:30to go down and start sinking. Remember Peter
32:33when he got out of the boat he asked Jesus
32:36could he come to him and then he walking on the water
32:39doing the miraculous and then he started sinking
32:42but thank God he got out of the boat, that's victory.
32:45All of the other disciples that were laughing at him didn't have the courage to get out
32:48but he got out and he started
32:51going down and when he started going down because
32:54of all of the stuff that was going around him
32:57circumstances that were saying you're not going to make it and he started
33:00looking at those circumstances and then fear filled his heart
33:03and now he starts sinking but he cried out and Jesus
33:06caught him by the hand.
33:09And so even if you do get out and start sinking
33:12whoever shall call on the name of the Lord
33:15shall be saved.
33:18He didn't stay there when he
33:21started going down. He cried for help
33:24and he got back up holding on to Jesus' hand.
33:27And here's what I want to tell you prophetically today
33:30is that just because you slip back
33:33doesn't mean that you're going back.
33:36Don't believe the lie. Instead of giving up
33:39get up and rebuild.
33:42Just because you slip back doesn't mean
33:45that you're going back. You see
33:48a slip is a quick fall. You know there's some people
33:51you know that walk and if you slip you hop up
33:54before anybody even sees you. That's called a slip.
33:57But a slide is a
34:00continuous motion in a downward direction.
34:03You ever see children they go to the playground they get on the slide
34:06and they slide down. It's a long
34:09type of way coming down. It's not the slip that messes
34:12you up. It's the slide.
34:15People slide into hell.
34:18You don't slip in it.
34:21You slip in sin
34:24but if you stay there you slide to hell.
34:30But just because you slip back doesn't mean
34:33that you have to go back.
34:36Is anybody understanding anything that I'm saying
34:39in this place today?
34:42If you slip back
34:45if you slip back get a hold of Jesus' hand
34:48get up and testify that I made
34:51a bad step, I misstepped, I went down
34:54but I'm back up again. I slipped
34:57back but I didn't go back because I'm
35:00holding on a hand that the Lord is upholding
35:03me with the right hand of His righteousness.
35:06It's amazing. Nehemiah's
35:09heart was broken over his beloved homeland
35:13and your troubled heart is oftentimes
35:16it is an entry into a new process
35:19it is a shifting of the seasons that God is perhaps doing
35:22in your life and just remember that
35:25when God gets ready to do something it is the openness of your mind
35:28that He'll use or the brokenness of your heart.
35:31He'll use one or the other.
35:34But Nehemiah began his work with prayer
35:37and you should too. I want you to see
35:40it's not a work of the flesh. This is the work of God
35:43God calls you to do something because you're working against demonic
35:46forces. You're working against powers that are bigger than your
35:49imagination. You're not just working against a man or working against
35:52a woman. You're working against the demons that's empowering them.
35:55Are you listening? That's why you need Holy Ghost power.
35:58I'm not telling you something out of a fairy tale book. I'm telling
36:01you that there are real spiritual powers that
36:04are governing the things that are in our world and the insanity that
36:07we deal with and that's why you need the power of prayer.
36:10Notice you don't do this on your own. You don't just
36:13get up and rebuild just because you got two arms and two
36:16feet. No, no, no. Psalms 127
36:19notice verse 1 and 2. Unless the Lord builds a house
36:22the work of the builders is wasted. Unless
36:25the Lord protects the city, guarding it with centuries
36:28will do no good. Notice it is useless
36:31for you to work so hard from early morning until late
36:34at night anxiously working for food to eat
36:37for God gives rest to His beloved, to His loved
36:40ones. And may I just
36:43remind you of this that the glory of your life
36:46is not seen in what you buy but
36:49what you build by God's grace. The glory
36:52of God is not seen in your life by what
36:55you buy. It is seen by what you build by God's grace.
36:58He's coming back and He's going to look to see did you
37:01build anything that could stand after you were gone?
37:04Not what you buy. It's what you build. It's what you build.
37:07It's time for us to start building healthy habits.
37:10It's time for us to start building time in our schedules
37:13with God first before you reach for your phone to check
37:16your messages and your email and your notification.
37:19Start building time for God first. Start
37:22rebuilding your life with prayer. Prayer
37:25is foundational. Prayer is
37:28foundational. Prayer is foundational.
37:31If you really wonder, you're talking about a rebuild
37:34of Nehemiah, may I just walk you through
37:37the book of Nehemiah and
37:40just show you in Nehemiah chapter 1 about 75-80%
37:43of the chapter consists of Nehemiah praying in
37:46Nehemiah chapter 1. 75-80% of the
37:49chapter deals with Nehemiah prayer. In chapter 2
37:52Nehemiah prays before he goes to seek
37:55King Artaxerxes. He went to seek
37:58his permission to be able to go to Jerusalem and he said his prayers
38:01in chapter 2. In chapter 3 a great praise
38:04is offered to God for the foundation of the temple
38:07just because it was laid. In chapter 4 Nehemiah begins
38:10to pray when his enemies came to mock him as they
38:13were trying to get him to stop the progress that he was making
38:16on the wall. In chapter 5 Nehemiah begins to pray
38:19and ask God to remember the sacrifices that he is making
38:22on the behalf of the people. In Nehemiah chapter 6
38:25Nehemiah begins to pray several times when his enemies
38:28begin to distract him, threaten him,
38:31trying to defame him with a lie and trying to disgrace him
38:34with the threatening attempts that they made
38:37against him. And in Nehemiah chapter 7 Nehemiah
38:40says, then my God put into my mind
38:43to assemble the nobles and the officials and the people
38:46to be enrolled by genealogy. He says,
38:49God put something in my mind after all of that prayer.
38:52God put something. When the work was finished Nehemiah
38:55kept God in his view. And he assembled all of the folks
38:58and he got the families together and he said God gave him
39:01a strategy but he prayed all of his way through.
39:04But Jesus today is our great intercessor. And I just want you
39:07to remember the wonderful prayer that Jesus prayed
39:10for us in Saint John chapter 17. Jesus
39:13prayed for various things for us. Jesus prayed for our
39:16knowledge of God. In Saint John chapter 17 verse 3
39:19he prayed for our joy. He prayed for our
39:22protection from evil. Jesus prayed
39:25for our sanctification. Our
39:28sanctification. Sanctification is not discipline
39:31it's holiness. It is holiness.
39:34Discipline is the work of the flesh. Holiness is the work
39:37of the spirit. It's the work of the Holy Ghost.
39:40It's about being able, because holiness always centers
39:43around the character of the nature of God. God has to
39:46be in it in order for it to be holy. It is God
39:49and God alone that makes anything holy. You can never
39:52discipline yourself into holiness.
39:55Number five he prayed for our unity. Unity. God make them
39:58one even as you and I are one. He prayed for our glorification.
40:01God glorify your church. Glorify
40:04them Lord. Bring glory to it Lord. For our good Lord but for
40:07your glory. And then he prayed for our love. That we
40:10be able to love one another. Jesus prayed. He prayed. He poured his heart
40:13out to God breaking his heart. In St. John chapter 17
40:16he prayed for these seven specific things for us.
40:19And he became, Nehemiah became an intercessor
40:22who prayed for an answer
40:25who received an answer
40:28and thirdly who became an answer. It's one
40:31thing to pray and ask God for an answer. It's another thing
40:34to receive an answer and it's something totally different to be an answer.
40:38And you ought to just start praying that highest form of prayer to say
40:41God make me an answer. Make me an answer to problems
40:44that are in my world. Make me an answer Father to the issues
40:47that I have the ability with your help to be able to solve
40:50by your grace God. Lord make me an answer to my family.
40:53Lord make me an answer to my school district. Lord make me
40:56an answer to my city. Make me an answer
40:59to my county, to my state, to my
41:02country. Lord make me an answer
41:05to some of the issues that plague our
41:08lives. But let me just remind you of this
41:11building is slow work.
41:14It's slow work because quality takes time.
41:17You cannot rush excellence.
41:20You cannot rush
41:23excellence. Quality takes time.
41:26Quality takes time. Quality takes time.
41:29Building and rebuilding
41:32begin with a burden. They begin
41:35with a burden. Nehemiah developed a burden
41:38for his hometown. It begins with a burden and
41:41then burdens mature into a vision.
41:44You know why some people don't have any vision? Because they never had a burden.
41:47Something needs to weigh heavily on your heart. Every
41:50vision is born out of a burden. Every vision
41:53without exception is born out of a burden.
41:56Any true God given vision comes out of a burden.
41:59Burdens mature into vision. That's why if something doesn't
42:02break your heart, you're not going to do anything about it. But if it breaks
42:05your heart, it'll mature into a vision. And vision requires faith
42:08and patience. Faith and patience. Hebrews
42:11chapter 6 and verse 12. You inherit the promises through
42:14faith and patience. Through faith and
42:17patience. Vision requires faith and patience because
42:20excellence takes time. And you get it
42:23after you have suffered a little while.
42:26Building and rebuilding require a workforce.
42:29You gotta have laborers. Lord, send
42:32laborers into your field. Building and rebuilding require
42:35a workforce. You cannot do it all by
42:38yourself. You're not designed to do it all by yourself.
42:41If God gives you a vision that you can accomplish
42:44without the help of another human being, He didn't give that vision.
42:47Real God given vision
42:50will always include other people. So
42:53rebuilding requires a workforce
42:56and then rebuilding requires a security system
42:59because they were threatening to be able to tear this thing
43:02down. And you gotta have a way to be able to say, God, what I'm
43:05proposing, what I'm laying on the table here, God, may you protect
43:08it. What I'm building. And so they had to deal with
43:11a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other to say, I'm
43:14building this thing, but I will cut your arm off if you try
43:17If you reach toward me, you
43:20will draw back a nerve.
43:23They had a weapon in one hand and a tool in the other
43:26and that's why we've got to be able to watch as well
43:29as pray.
43:32Prayer is a tool, but it's also a weapon.
43:35And you build with one and you
43:38protect with another. It requires a security system.
43:41Particularly if you build it in the hood,
43:44they will rob your supplies.
43:47And when I built in the hood, I had to get
43:50insurance so that
43:53my materials wouldn't be hauled off.
43:56It's dangerous. It costs you something
43:59to build in the hood
44:02because you got to have a security system.
44:05They will rip your copper off. They will
44:08take your lumber. They will walk off with your air conditioner.
44:11I'm not telling you about what I read in the paper.
44:14I'm telling you about what I know.
44:17Security system.
44:20We brought materials to this place where I've said
44:23we've got to protect what we're trying to build
44:26because while we're trying to build it, somebody
44:29is coming after it, but I'm just telling you
44:32it takes a particular type of security.
44:35It takes a particular type of
44:38security.
44:41And rebuilding also requires focus.
44:44You've got to be able to keep your focus on what you're doing
44:47because rebuilding requires focus.
44:50Rebuilding requires focus. It requires a security system
44:53but you've got to be focused to say we are going to
44:56accomplish this thing. Don't let people's mouths get you distorted
44:59because they've got a smoke screen of going on up to here.
45:02You better always watch out when the news comes with one thing
45:05because they'll be talking about something over here but they're trying to
45:08cover up something over here and you need to be discerning
45:11in the Holy Ghost and say what are they trying to cover up
45:14over there? Building requires
45:17focus.
45:20Building is revelation
45:23because vision is revelation.
45:26It's an unveiling. It's an uncovering.
45:29You see, revelation creates excitement
45:32but it is repetition
45:35that builds disciples.
45:38It's a consistency.
45:41Repetition builds disciples.
45:44And I want you to realize that when Nehemiah
45:47because he had lived his life with integrity and served
45:50with excellence on his job, he didn't do that
45:53overnight. He did it over time.
45:56I love the fact that sometimes when people think
45:59that you've had overnight success, one person actually qualified and said
46:02overnight success actually is about 15 years.
46:05It's a long night.
46:08It's a long night.
46:11But the king granted
46:14to Nehemiah a few things. The king
46:17granted him permission. The king granted
46:20him protection and the king
46:23granted him provision.
46:26He got this because he served with excellence.
46:29He was able to go to his own government and he got permission
46:32to be able to build, to rebuild.
46:35He got protection to rebuild
46:38and he got provision to be able to rebuild.
46:41Not only is this a time to rise and rebuild what has been broken down
46:44and torn down, this is also a time now
46:47to be able to invade the enemy's territory and reclaim
46:50what has been stolen.
46:54I want you to see something in Matthew chapter 16
46:57verse 18 and 19.
47:00Jesus is speaking here and Jesus said, and I tell you, you are Peter
47:03and on this rock. He was not talking about Peter
47:06the name Peter means like a pebble but the rock
47:09that he was talking about was a boulder. It was a revelation.
47:12He's talking about the rock of the revelation. I will build my church
47:15and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The gates of hell.
47:18Notice that the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
47:21See, I want you to understand this. Gates are not a weapon
47:24of offense, they're a weapon of defense.
47:27Nobody said, man, we're getting ready to fight
47:30but wait a minute, let me go get my gate.
47:33You don't fight with a gate because a gate is not
47:36a weapon of offense, it's for defense.
47:39That's when you're behind the fence, that's when you then start shooting
47:42your mouth off.
47:45Because a gate is a defense. But I want you to notice
47:48and he says that I tell you that you are Peter
47:51and on this rock I will build my church and the gates
47:54of hell will not prevail against it. And notice what he says
47:57and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven
48:00and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven
48:03and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
48:06I want you to realize that not even the gates of hell
48:09that the devil has erected
48:12can protect what he has stolen from you.
48:16His gates, they won't be able to withhold
48:19God's people advancing, bombarding
48:22his gates, coming back in, ripping those gates down
48:25to come and repossess what has been stolen
48:28and he said I will give you the keys of the kingdom.
48:31So he gives us the key to the gate.
48:34You can't withstand a locked gate is no good
48:37if I got the key.
48:40Behold, I give you the keys.
48:44I give you the keys. Keys open and they lock.
48:47And I want you to realize prayer is a key.
48:50Love is a key. Joy is a key.
48:53Forgiveness is a key.
48:56Obedience to God is a key. Praise is a key.
48:59Worship is a key. He said I give you
49:02the keys of the kingdom.
49:05And let me just say this to you that the gates of hell
49:08cannot withstand a child of God
49:11who walks with courage understanding
49:14his or her authority as a believer with the keys
49:17that Jesus gave.
49:20The gates of hell cannot withstand a child of God
49:23who walks with courage understanding
49:26his or her authority as a believer with the keys
49:29that Jesus gave.
49:32Stop waiting for your big breakthrough
49:35and focus on your
49:38on your step through.
49:41Because it's time now for you to start walking through
49:44some things that God has already
49:47prepared for you. Bow your heads.
49:54I pray to God that there are
49:57Nehemiah's, both male and female
50:00that are under the sound of my voice.
50:04What needs to be rebuilt in your life
50:09whether by fasting
50:12whether by blasting
50:15whether by burning
50:18what do you need to burn up that's been hindering you?
50:21What do you need to destroy
50:24that's been destroying you?
50:27I pray that God will burden your heart
50:31so that vision can be birthed in you
50:34and that he'll give you vision for not only you
50:37but for your family, for people around you.
50:40Vision for your community. When you get something from God
50:43it's not about God bless me and my wife, my son John, his wife
50:46us four and no more. No, no, no.
50:49Kingdom prayer is never selfish.
50:52Jesus taught us our father
50:56It's our father.
50:59Give us this day
51:02our daily bread. This is not just about me.
51:05Lead us not
51:08into temptation.
51:11Deliver us from evil.
51:14I'm not just good if you just do this for me.
51:17Deliver us.
51:21Lord, use us for your glory.
51:24Lord, heal us.
51:27Heal our land.
51:30It's not just me. This is not just personal.
51:33God's concerned about our community.
51:36We have eroded our foundations.
51:39And he reminds us
51:42in Psalms 11 3
51:45if the foundations be destroyed
51:49what can the righteous do?
51:52And right now it's time for you to just get
51:55get right with God.
51:58To say God I gotta be right. I wanna be right so that you can use me.
52:02Get out of me everything that
52:05that looks and smells like the world.
52:08So you can purify my heart
52:11whether it's through fasting, whether it's through blasting
52:14whether it's through burning. God take it out.
52:17I lay it down. I put it on the altar.
52:20Something need to be put to the fire.
52:23May I tell you this is sometimes
52:26God won't always take away from you
52:29some gifts that he's given. He'll just send a fire on it
52:32to sanctify it. So you got a quick mind
52:35you got a quick tongue and you've been using it to cut and tear people down
52:38but now he's gonna take that same quickness of your tongue
52:41and use it to be able to tear demonic agendas down.
52:45And expose the plan of the enemy.
52:48And I pray in the name of Jesus
52:51that God, my God
52:54our community, our nation is in ruin today.
52:57Our world
53:00is in a dog eat dog position
53:03invading other people's land, starting wars.
53:06Jesus, just for the love of stuff
53:11tripping, sliding on our way to hell.
53:14It's time to get up and rebuild.
53:17Just because you slip back you're not
53:20going back in Jesus name.
53:23I pray that God would so infuse you
53:26may he open up your spiritual eyes
53:29give you a vision, unveil to you
53:32a plan, show you
53:35how you can assign your hands to do that
53:38that which God has called you and anointed you to be able to do
53:42we need foundation layers now
53:45we need apostolic voices, we need prophetic
53:48voices to be able to guide
53:51more so than anything else
53:54the apostle and the prophet, it is their hour
53:57once again for apostles and prophets to be restored
54:00in the body, their voices
54:03around the world
54:06so that apostolic order, foundational things
54:09are set right, God refuses
54:12to build on a shaky foundation
54:15the foundation must be right
54:18and that's why he will sometimes level it
54:21and he'll send the wind to blow away from your stuff
54:24that you didn't have the strength to lay down
54:29and he'll send the earthquake
54:32to shake loose
54:35that's what you couldn't turn loose
54:38and that that is designed to be sanctified
54:41that he intends to use for his glory
54:44he sends the fire
54:47but even after the wind
54:50and after the earthquake and after the fire
54:53there comes a still
54:56small voice
54:59God says when you move all of the obstructions out of the way
55:03I'll be able to whisper to you
55:06and you'll be able to hear what I'm saying to you
55:09in a whisper from all of the clutter
55:12of the noise, of the anxiety
55:15of the stress, of the pressure
55:18it's just a whisper
55:21God says I'll be able to whisper my ideas to you
55:24and the people next to you won't hear a thing
55:27but you will hear me reverberating in your soul
55:30in a whisper
55:33that I will speak to you and let you know
55:36when you just need to hold your tongue and let the Lord fight your battle
55:39and when you need to stand up and move the people forward
55:42and cry out and spare not
55:45Father in Jesus name
55:48I pray
55:51that you will bring the spirit of wisdom and revelation
55:54seeing and knowing
55:57into the lives of these your people Lord
56:00help them to be able to discern truth
56:03give us a deep hunger in our hearts, our souls God
56:06for truth
56:09Father we don't merely pray for an answer today
56:12we don't merely pray just to receive an answer
56:15but Father we pray to be an answer
56:18make us an answer
56:21as we drive off of the premises
56:24as we leave our homes
56:27as we leave hotels, as we leave the workplace
56:30make us an answer
56:33show us God your way, show us
56:36the foundational things so that we get the foundational things right
56:39and rebuild according to your design
56:42oh God may you break our hearts
56:45with the things that break your heart
56:48may you anoint us God to be able to hate what you hate
56:51so we can love what you love God
56:54and we pray God that thy kingdom come, thy will be done
56:57on this earth as it is in heaven
57:00and we covenant in advance
57:03that we will give you the glory, the honor and the praise for it
57:06in Jesus majestic name
57:09Amen. God bless you, we love you
57:12I pray that you got something out of God's word today
57:15may you have a wonderful, wonderful week
57:18and be an answer every place that you go in Jesus name
