00:29Thanks be unto God. Wow. What an amazing God we serve. The angels bow before Him. Heaven and earth adore Him.
00:38My God, my God. We thank Him. We honor Him. We bless Him. He's amazing.
00:45Well, our scriptural lesson today comes from the 14th chapter of the book of Numbers, Old Testament.
00:52Don't ever throw away the Old Testament just because you've got a New Testament.
00:56It is the old that gives context to the new. Jesus, in one of the few parables that He interprets for us in Matthew chapter 13,
01:05He says, out of a treasure they bring things old and things new. There are old treasures and new treasures.
01:12The Old Testament is an old treasure with spiritual principles that still speak to us and deal with the human condition of where we are.
01:20Notice here the word of the Lord. Then the Lord said, He's talking to Moses. He said, I will pardon them as you have requested.
01:27But as surely as I live and as surely as the earth is filled with the Lord's glory, not one of these people will enter that land.
01:36They have seen, they've all seen my glorious presence and the miraculous signs that I perform both in Egypt and in the wilderness.
01:44But again and again, they have tested me by refusing to listen to my voice. They will never even see the land that I swore to give their ancestors.
01:54None of those who have treated me with contempt will ever enter it. But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have.
02:05He has remained loyal to me. So I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land.
02:16And you will all drop dead in the wilderness because you complained against me.
02:21Every one of you who is 20 years old or older and was included in the registration will die.
02:29You will not enter and occupy the land that I swore to give you. The only exception will be Caleb, the son of Jephunneh and Joshua, the son of Nahn.
02:40I'm talking today simply from the subject different, different, different. This is different in a good way, not different in a weird way.
02:51When the Holy Spirit comes on your life, the Holy Spirit makes you wise, not weird.
02:58Wise is a positive thing. Wise will draw people to you. Weird will turn people away from you.
03:06You don't want to be weird. So when God comes into your life, he doesn't make you weird. He makes you wise.
03:13But it is the wisdom of God that sets us apart like the children of Issachar.
03:20They had a mark of wisdom on their life that they were discerners of the signs of the time and they also knew what Israel ought to do.
03:31That set them apart from all of the other tribes because they were the ones that knew what to do.
03:38But here, God is having a conversation with Moses who is interceding on behalf of the people because God had shown them all of the 10 incredible miracles in bringing them up out of the land of Egypt.
03:51Nobody else had seen miracles like that prior to that time and we have not seen miracles of that proportion since.
03:58I mean, I would love to see the sea split open and congealed on the sides and walk through on dry land.
04:05They saw some stuff. Three days of thick darkness and plagues of frogs and lice and flies and all kind of stuff happening to them and water turning to blood.
04:16All of these boils breaking out on humans and on animals and hail that was burning that fell to the earth.
04:26All of these different plagues that we had never heard of before nor since seeing any of this and he says, you saw all of this and you still didn't believe me.
04:35He says, you will die here. I tell you, I would have hated to be turning 21 when he said that everybody, you know, over 20 was going to die in the wilderness.
04:47Can you imagine? But it was really God's way of saying because he had them out there and they had been walking around for a while.
04:54That journey could have been made in about six months and it took them 40 years. He let them circle and that's what you call that wandering.
05:04When you don't follow the voice of God in your heart here that you have to take the scenic route and he'll let them wonder until they die.
05:12Why? Because God was trying to birth something in them, but he couldn't birth it in them until he was able to deliver out of them all of the stuff from Egypt.
05:24Egypt is a type of the world and there's some folks that just can't shake loose that stuff of the world and God says, but where I'm going, my kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
05:36And he says, you can't bring that worldly attitude and that worldly mindset. He says, Joshua, he said, Caleb has a different attitude in him.
05:47Some versions say a different spirit, but an attitude is a frame of mind. It's a frame of mind. So when you have an attitude, it's a frame of your mind.
06:00An attitude is an internal feeling with an external expression. It always has to have an external expression. That's why it is impossible for a woman to have an attitude with her husband and he not know it.
06:16Oh, if she's got an attitude, he will know it. Hey, what's wrong with you, baby? Nothing.
06:23Oh, he will know it. Attitudes are always discernible. It's an internal feeling that always has an external expression, and it's because of a frame of mind.
06:40So if somebody has an attitude, it's because it's an internal feeling that's on the inside. Some offense has been done. There was something that you did that offended them or failed to do that offended them.
06:54And they are going to let you know. The reason that they don't tell you outright is because they feel like you ought to know better.
07:02They're like, I shouldn't have to tell you this. You know what you did. And so they put the attitude out there just to let you stew in your own mess.
07:14I mean, one man, you know, his wife was a, I would just call her a big bum. And she was dieting. They were out having dinner with another couple.
07:26And she told them that she was on a seafood diet. And he said, Oh, you're pescatarian. He said, Oh, yes, she's on a seafood diet. She eats all the food that she can see.
07:39And so everybody started laughing at the table, including her. And it seemed like it was all right until they got in the car on that dreadful ride back home.
07:55And there was a startling silence, deafening silence in the automobile. And when he could resist it no more, he says, What's wrong, baby? Nothing.
08:08He knew that there was an attitude. You can tell an attitude. It leaves a residue in the spirit, just like frying fish in a house.
08:21And after you fry the fish and have eaten the fish, you can still tell when somebody has been frying fish in a house, can't you?
08:29That's what an attitude does. It contaminates the atmosphere. But the Bible said all of these children of Israel have a stinking attitude.
08:39And he says, one thing I'm not going to do, my kingdom is not going to be polluted with that. That's why you have to die in order to be birthed into his kingdom.
08:49Because stinking attitudes that smell like the world will not be allowed to be entered. It's righteousness doing what's right.
08:57Peace. I mean, I'm just telling you, you don't realize how valuable peace is until you no longer have it. And then joy in the Holy Ghost.
09:07I mean, it will bring you joy. It will bring you joy, unspeakable and full of glory. I'm just telling you, there's something about it.
09:15But God says, I don't want anything in my kingdom in the promised land that's going to smell like Egypt.
09:20So I'm not going to let anybody into there that hasn't been delivered of Egypt. So God was his, the Holy Ghost and the death angel.
09:31They were the ones, you know, that would like the bouncers standing at the portals of the promised land to say, you can't come in here with that.
09:43But he says, the only two of y'all that's over 20 that I'm going to let in, Joshua and Caleb, because they had a different spirit in them.
09:50There was something different about them. They had a good difference about them. A good difference.
09:58And if you're going to be different, let it be a good difference. Not the kind of difference where you're weird.
10:05You're weirding people out and folks don't want anything to do with Christianity because you're weird.
10:11I even tell people, listen, don't even tell anybody on your job that you're a Christian until they tell you that you're doing a good job.
10:18You bring down the quality of the name of the Lord and of his servants. You can give Christians a bad name.
10:26You go into a place and you don't tip well. They're like, oh, I'm church folk. I don't want to wait on them.
10:33Listen, I'm not in the hospitality industry. And I know our world has gone tipping crazy.
10:41And all of the people said, but we're different. We're different. You're different.
10:50Your life cannot be like everyone else's life. You know why?
10:57Because I know sometimes you wonder, Lord, why don't you just let me do what so-and-so does?
11:02And you'll see somebody else that's named among the name of God's people.
11:06And then it looks like they can do some things that the Holy Spirit won't let you do.
11:11Your walk is different. Your consecration is different. Your call is different.
11:19Your destiny is different. Your history is different. Your gifts are different.
11:26Your assignment is different. Your calling is different. Your struggle is different.
11:31And also your testimony is different. Nobody else has your testimony.
11:37You can't judge a person's level of success by the heights that they reach in life, but by the obstacles that they have to overcome to get there.
11:48Because some people were born on third base. You started from home plate and you had to run every last one of the bases.
11:58So when I make a home run and if I started from square one and I got to run all the way around with all of my might praying that I don't get put out.
12:10It's different than you who was stealing third base and you were almost at home when you got there.
12:16And that's why you can't judge people when you don't understand their history and you don't understand their destiny and you don't understand their struggles.
12:25And therefore you don't even understand their testimony, but they've got a testimony.
12:30And your power is in your story. Your power is everything that God has delivered you out of.
12:37Your power is where you have come from. Your power is where you had your limp and you're still walking to let people know that yes, something happened to me out there, but I'm still going.
12:47I'm going if I'm tired, I'm going if I have to drag one leg, I'm still moving. Yes, something happened, but I'm still here.
12:55It becomes your testimony that God is faithful in the midst of things happening to me because in this world things happen.
13:05The apostle Paul writing to the church at Philippi said the things that have happened unto me have fallen out for the furtherance of the gospel.
13:14He says everything that happened to me was to make the road further for somebody else so that somebody else could go farther than what I was able to go.
13:22God used me to be able to be a paver. I paved the road where there was no road. I had to beat a path where there was no path.
13:31That's what the whole idea of being a leader is all about. That's why you're different because God designed for you to be a pioneer in some areas that he hadn't called anybody else.
13:42And the thing about being a pioneer is that you don't have a blueprint. You don't know when and you don't know how.
13:50I've told you the word leader. It is an Indo-European word. It comes from two separate words, Lea, which means path and der, which means finder.
14:01A leader is a path finder. Nobody told the leader where the path was. He had to look where the big game was.
14:09He had to look and see a footprint here, a leaf that was nibbled on here, and they had to find a path as it were by consequent.
14:18One thing after another, one thing led. Nobody told him they had to find the path. Nobody told Moses which way it was to the promised land.
14:25Nobody told Joshua. He was a leader, a path finder, and he had to find a path and then blaze a trail so that others could follow.
14:33That's what a leader does. And God will cause you to be able to do something where you're struggling and you're a young family and you're having children and you weren't even properly parented yourself.
14:42And now you've got to be somebody's mama and daddy and your children don't realize you're learning as you're going with them.
14:47You don't know whether to kill them or to love them and hug them. You're trying to figure it out. You're trying to find the path. You're walking in the darkness.
14:58And that's what being different is about is saying that I'm in a place that I've never been before.
15:05Every stage of life is different. Whether you're in your tender teens, your teachable 20s, your tireless 30s, your forcible 40s, your fearful 50s, your seasoned 60s, your subtle 70s, your aching 80s, your nebulous 90s, or your pernicious hundreds.
15:18Wherever you are, there's something that God has at every level. And listen, you get in your aching 80s and you're still acting like you're in your tender teens.
15:29And you're eating chili dogs and french fries and you're going to wind up in the emergency room.
15:37Because at every stage of life, you've got to move differently. You can't get in your subtle 70s and just spring up out of a chair without throwing something out of whack.
15:53You have to plan that. You hear old people say, I'm fixing to get up.
16:03You got to plan your moves.
16:08That's not being slow. That's being really smart. Plan your move. You get up too quickly and you'll be at the chiropractor talking.
16:20Take your time. Take your time. Take your time. When you want different for yourself, you have to start moving differently.
16:30Because you'll realize this, that what got you here won't take you there.
16:35Because God is saying that I want you to depend on me in this season like you've never had to depend on me before.
16:45God never intends for us to graduate from becoming dependent upon him. Never. You don't ever graduate.
16:53Like wherever you are, whatever stage you are in your life, I want you to depend upon me for your guidance.
16:59And so he makes it where old keys will not unlock new doors.
17:07Because what used to work for you back there, you used to be able to jiggle the key and get it in.
17:14But when you're in a new building, those keys don't work over here.
17:22If you call yourself going out and cranking a car, that's an old term to crank a car.
17:28You literally they had this thing out in front of the thing that you literally had to wind and crank.
17:34We press a button and start the car. You don't crank it anymore.
17:38It's a new key. My car doesn't even have a key.
17:44It's a new strategy. It's a new methodology.
17:49And so if you're trying to open new doors with old keys, and my car doesn't even have a keyhole,
18:00then there's another strategy that has to be used to be able to operate successfully.
18:07You have to think differently at different stages of your life.
18:11And if you're still thinking with adolescent thinking by the time you're in your fifties,
18:17you're going to be a pain in somebody's side somewhere.
18:24And he's telling us simply what you do differently makes you different.
18:30What you do differently makes you different. You can't just be different just because you say you're different.
18:35It's what you do differently that makes you different.
18:37It's different believing. It's different feeling. It's different thinking.
18:42It's different associations you associate with different people.
18:45Because whenever your life gets ready to change, God will bring a new person in your life or he'll take an old one out.
18:51And sometimes both, because it's impossible to change your life without changing your associations,
18:57unless your associations change with you.
18:59If they don't change with you, then you've got to change from them.
19:02Different associations, different habits, different diet.
19:07You remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Daniel, all of those?
19:11They had a different diet and then a different priority, different priority, different priority.
19:18You see, I know that we teach people that knowledge is power,
19:22but Dale Carnegie said that knowledge isn't power until it's applied.
19:30Knowledge isn't power until it is applied.
19:33Knowledge is power. It's not power until it is applied.
19:38Then it becomes power.
19:40And so people often do different things because of what they prioritize
19:46and what they do in their life that actually makes them different.
19:52When you find people that make it to the Olympics,
19:55they have a different kind of priority that they live with.
19:58They prioritize going for the gold.
20:01Nobody trains for the Olympics to win the silver or the bronze.
20:07You go for the gold. You go for the gold.
20:12It's a gold standard. You go for the gold.
20:15Nobody is training so that they can come in third.
20:19That's a consequent.
20:22Nobody trains to come in second.
20:25Nobody. Nobody.
20:27Now, it's a major accomplishment if you make it to the Olympics and come in second.
20:31Don't misunderstand me. You get the silver.
20:33I mean, how many people can say they have a silver medal from the Olympics or even a bronze one?
20:39All of them are wins for me.
20:41But I'm just saying nobody trains hoping to win the silver or the bronze.
20:47They're going for the gold.
20:49Stephen Covey said that the key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule,
20:54but to schedule your priorities, to schedule your priorities.
20:59Now, again, here's a little bit of etymology.
21:06The word originally was priorite, singular.
21:11There was no such a word as priorities.
21:14For 500 years, it was only the single word priority.
21:19Priority. Priorities became a word in the 20th century.
21:24The 20th century.
21:26It became a word giving us the illusion that you can have more than one priority.
21:31But when you really understand the word priority, the priority actually means the very first.
21:38Priority means the very first. The very first.
21:42Or it means the prior thing.
21:45It means the very first.
21:47Jesus understood this principle.
21:49That's why he said in Matthew 6, 33,
21:51Seek the kingdom of God above all else.
21:56King James Version said, Seek ye first the kingdom of God,
22:01and all of its righteousness, and all of these other things will be added to you.
22:07You live righteously, and he will give you everything that you need.
22:11See, if you do the first things, the other things open up.
22:20Do you realize that when you put God first, God first,
22:28priority is extremely important with God.
22:31God first. God first.
22:34Then when he wants to caution you along the way, second thoughts.
22:39God will sometimes give you a second thought.
22:41The second thought can then flip your whole understanding of something.
22:49You thought that you had met the one, so you got the second thought.
22:57And sometimes even when people marry, the first one is in the flesh,
23:00and the second one is in the spirit.
23:01That that's born of the flesh is first.
23:03That that's born of the spirit is second.
23:05The second one takes the blessing.
23:07I want you to think about that.
23:10It's the second one.
23:12Ladies, when you're walking down the street,
23:17the man turns around and looks at you.
23:19You don't really know when you're sort of looking and passing each other,
23:22but it's that second look.
23:24Oh, yeah, he's interested.
23:26It's the second look that confirms it.
23:29Yeah, there's something there.
23:30That's some chemistry.
23:32Second, but God's first.
23:36God's first. God first.
23:39You keep God first so that you'll know how to interpret everything
23:43through the lens of God having a preeminent position of being first in your life.
23:50Because whatever you put before God is an idol.
23:54And I love the way that Timothy Keller defines the word idol.
23:59Notice he says an idol is anything more important to you than God.
24:02Anything that absorbs your heart and imagination more than God.
24:06Anything that you seek to give you what only God can give.
24:11So when you seek for a woman to give you something that only God can give you,
24:15or ladies, what a man can give you that only God,
24:18you're looking for some type of acceptance and affirmation from a man that only God can give you,
24:23you really need the Father's love from above to be able to affirm you to say,
24:27you are my daughter, and I am enough for you.
24:30And once you, listen, once you can live without somebody, then you can live with them.
24:35You'd be surprised. You'd be surprised.
24:39But you've got to keep God first.
24:42In Luke chapter 10, this is a story of two sisters, Mary and Martha.
24:47And remember Jesus was in the house.
24:50I mean, you're talking about Jesus, the hope of the world.
24:54Jesus, the King of kings, the Lord of lords.
24:57The one who is the Alpha, the one who is the Omega.
25:00You're talking about Jesus, Mary's baby.
25:05I mean, this Jesus, the preeminent one, the all-seeing one, the immutable God.
25:11He's God in the flesh, wrapped up in flesh, who's sitting in that living room.
25:17And Martha, the other sister, is in the kitchen, trying to clean up and fix some food.
25:26While her sister Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus,
25:30she was giving preeminence to the priority of sitting at the feet of Jesus
25:36to be able to hear what he would say to her.
25:39Sitting at the feet.
25:41Now, here's the thing that most people get thrown off with.
25:44Martha was being distracted from being at Jesus' feet by doing good work.
25:51It wasn't evil.
25:53I mean, she was cleaning up. You need to clean up.
25:57I mean, she was fixing food. You got to eat.
26:00It's not that they were wrong, but it's wrong if you put it in the wrong order.
26:05Priority is about doing right things at the right time.
26:09Because if you do the right thing at the wrong time, it's the wrong thing.
26:13God is a God of timing. He operates in what's called kairos moment.
26:19This is a moment in time, in the fullness of time.
26:23It's like a pregnancy term that you have to kairos something until the time is right.
26:27Because God is allowing this thing to germinate and to grow and to develop on the inside of you.
26:32And oftentimes, while we are impatient, waiting on God to hurry up and come on and do this thing,
26:37God is saying, no, no, no. I'm forming the brain. I'm forming the eyes.
26:40I'm connecting nervous system. I'm developing that gastronemius, that latissimus dorsi.
26:45I'm working on some things on the inside that you may not be able to see.
26:49I'm letting a network of nerves and cells be generated in this body that is moving in them.
26:55I've got an endocrine system. I've got a digestive system. I've got a circulatory system.
27:00I've got a respiratory system. I am working on some stuff on the inside.
27:04Take your time. You can't rush birth. You've got to carry this thing.
27:08And it feels like a burden while you're carrying something that is designed to be a blessing.
27:13You will birth your blessing. When you birth your blessing, you're actually birthing something that will outlive you.
27:18So that when I'm dead and gone, this thing will still be there.
27:21Listen, if you want to time travel, then you ought to read. You can read somebody else's work and travel down through the time.
27:27If I want to know what it was like to live in the times of Jesus, I read the words of Jesus.
27:32But if you want to become immortal yourself, write, because then somebody will be able to read how God's life and power worked in your life and through your life.
27:42But let him just carry you through the process. God is a God of process.
27:46He refuses to skip process because God is more concerned about your development than he is about your comfort.
27:54And if you just let God just grow you through the process, through the gestational period, while certain things are being born in you and other things are dying in you,
28:03because he doesn't want to take you to a promised land and having you to act ghetto in a place where you're supposed to be blessed and refined.
28:16Jesus brings refinement to your life. He refines you on the inside. He refines your spirit. He refines your appetite.
28:26He refines your desires. Jesus refines you. He is a gentleman. He is the preeminent spirit. He is a king's kid. He's got the etiquette of the palace on the inside of him.
28:39He understands. You will never find right wretchedness in him, but righteousness.
28:45He is the preeminent one. And so, he's saying I'm just trying to work on something because you're in a gestational period.
28:54You can't rush God. God says I'm trying to develop something in you. And if I get it developed in you, you'll be able to walk in the strength of that.
29:00And the more you walk in it, the stronger that you will become. It won't come as fast as you want it to come.
29:05And, you know, it's like I've been in the gym and doing some sit-ups and I was expecting to see the print of the six-pack.
29:12And I was discouraged afterwards. My stomach was burning and I just felt that I ought to be able to see something.
29:21Right about now. I ought to be able to see it. I was working with a trainer and he says you've got a six-pack up under there.
29:30I'm like I can't see it and nobody else can see it.
29:39But whatever is working, it begins to work in a clandestine and surreptitious way. Under the ground.
29:46God, if you'll ever remember back in the book of Genesis. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
29:53And the evening and the morning were the second day. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
29:57And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
30:00And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. You notice something? God's day starts at night when you can't see.
30:07He starts while your life is in darkness and then he reaches into the darkness and brings us out into the marvelous light.
30:15So what has been germinating and what has been growing in the womb of your spirit.
30:19There will come a time that as you carry it for a season. That in the fullness.
30:24There's a pregnancy term. In the fullness of time. You will birth the purpose that God has been carrying in you.
30:31That's been waking you up in the night. Because that thing when you carry something that is born of God.
30:35It'll wake you up at 2.38 sometime in the night. It'll wake you up at 3.34.
30:39I'm just telling you. This thing. Listen. A dream is not what you see in your sleep. A dream is a thing that keeps sleep from you.
30:46When you really have a God dream. That dream will slap you upside the head and say get up think about me.
30:53Dream about me. Write up some ideas about me. It will wake you up in the.
30:59Anybody understand what I'm talking about? God will arrest you in the middle of the night.
31:06It's a dream talking in you. Something that he's trying to birth in your life and birth through your spirit.
31:13And whatever you birth is going to be a blessing. But it's not coming over overnight. It's coming over time.
31:21Over time. He's trying to work a process in us that develops over time.
31:28Because you see if he gave it to you too rapidly. Quick success builds your ego. Slow success builds your character.
31:35God's working on your character. He is working on your character.
31:41So he says I want to take my time with you. And that's the only reason that he didn't just translate them.
31:46From one place to another the way that he translated Philip. He was in one place and then he was translated and appeared in another place.
31:53He could have translated the whole children of Israel all of them the whole tribe.
31:59All the way from Egypt and bam instantly into the promised land.
32:05But that would have been so much ratchetness and chaos.
32:10Because of their attitude the frame of their mind and whatever frames your mind will frame your world.
32:16And so he's saying I got to get Egypt out of you.
32:22I'm trying to birth something so I'm going to let you walk in the heat of the sun.
32:26And I'm going to let you walk through desert dry places.
32:30Because what I'm doing is creating a hunger and a thirst in you.
32:34So that when I get you to a land of plenty where it's plush and the grapes are huge.
32:41I'm stimulating an appetite. I'm letting you walk until you get thirsty.
32:46I'm letting you walk until you get hungry.
32:48God is saying I'm up to something. Touch somebody and tell them God is up to something.
32:51God is up to something. God's up to something.
32:54And I just remind you today. I just remind you that there's a gift on the inside of you.
33:00Proverbs chapter 18 and verse 16 says that a man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.
33:06This is not gender specific here. A woman's gift makes room for her and it brings her before great folks.
33:11Folks that are able to take that thing that has been growing on the inside.
33:15You just work on your gift. You be faithful with your gift.
33:18What God called you to do. What God called you to do.
33:21Your gift will make room for you. Your gift will make room for you.
33:25Sharpen your gift. Practice your gift. Pray that God will do it.
33:30You just get ready and the opportunity will come.
33:32If you get ready the opportunity will come. You never have to pray for opportunities.
33:36Opportunities come and go. But you have to be ready to seize that opportunity when it comes.
33:42And if you can't see the opportunity, you cannot seize the opportunity.
33:46So you've got to be ready. Our job is to be ready when he comes.
33:50You've got to have all in your lap. I'm just telling you.
33:53He's coming like a thief in the night. You've got to be ready.
33:55Listen, the time to be ready is not the time to get ready.
33:58There have been people I've been sitting backstage sometimes and they'll say, Bishop Ronald, are you ready? Are you ready?
34:03I said, listen, I was ready before I left home.
34:06If I'm not ready, it's too late now.
34:11And I want you to think about this.
34:18If God has an opportunity to use somebody.
34:22Who is able.
34:25But not ready for somebody who's willing and able.
34:30Ready right now. Which one is he going to send?
34:33He's only going to send the one that's ready.
34:37And sometimes when you carry different things on the inside of you, can I give you a spiritual key?
34:42If you're carrying different things on the inside of you and you really, there's so many opportunities.
34:47One of the things that the apostle Paul was writing.
34:51And he said, I am burning and that word burning actually meant ready.
34:56When you carry several things on the inside of you.
35:00And you wonder which one is ready to go now.
35:03Which one should I use now? The one that's burning.
35:06You know, when you're cooking and you can smell when certain things are ready.
35:12You smell it because if you don't get it off, it's going to start burning.
35:17So it is the burning, the beginning of the burning process that lets you know this is ready.
35:22This is ready.
35:24So when there comes a burning on the inside of you, it's just telling you that a season of readiness.
35:31Let me just remind you of this.
35:33Dissatisfaction is a precursor for change.
35:38Because you will never change while you're satisfied on the level where you are.
35:43So God has to leave a little bit of holy discontent in you.
35:48I don't know about you, but when I look at the condition of our world, I've got a holy discontent on the inside of me.
35:54I can't just sit there and just do nothing.
35:57And I'm saying, God, whatever you're going to do, don't do it without me.
36:00Whatever, Lord, however, you can use me for your glory.
36:03For your glory, for the good of the people, Father, but for your glory.
36:07Father, may thy kingdom come, may thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
36:12Lord, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
36:17Because I think that God is up to something and he's trying to bring us to a place and he's waiting on us to get ready.
36:23Because he's trying to take us someplace.
36:25But you cannot rush growth.
36:28You have to prepare for it.
36:30Let me give you the 5G difference.
36:32The 5G, I like alliterations where everything begins with the same letter.
36:35The first one is God. You give God preeminence in your life.
36:39Give him preeminence, preeminence in your life.
36:41The second one is goals.
36:42You need to have goals.
36:43If you're going to ever do anything that matters in the world, you need to have a goal.
36:48And a goal is not a goal until it's written.
36:50It's a wish, it's a wish if you don't write it.
36:54But a goal, goals must be written.
36:56Harvard did a study in 1953 with a group of students.
36:59Had this part to write their goals down and the other group that did not.
37:03And do you know the ones that wrote them their goals?
37:06They were considerably more successful.
37:08It wasn't just a coincidence.
37:09There's something about goals, smart goals.
37:11They were specific.
37:13They were measurable.
37:14They were attainable.
37:15They were relatable.
37:16And they were time bound, smart goals.
37:18Set some goals.
37:20Number three, grinding, grinding.
37:22You got to have some hard work with it.
37:25You want to be different?
37:26Work hard.
37:27Hard work will always get you noticed.
37:30Hard work will always get you noticed.
37:34Hard work, it takes hard work to produce excellence.
37:37That's grinding.
37:38Work hard.
37:39Faith without works is dead and dead faith doesn't work.
37:42Then number four, giving back, giving back, giving back.
37:45Listen, if you don't give back, God can't bless you forward.
37:49Every time that you give back is seed for your future.
37:52Every time that you give back is seed.
37:54So if God blesses me with a harvest, inside of my current harvest is my seed for my next harvest.
38:01Don't eat your seed, sow your seed for the next harvest that's designed to come into your life.
38:08And then number five, gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.
38:12Grateful people are the happiest people on the planet.
38:14Be grateful, be grateful, be grateful.
38:17And then I want to give you a few other difference makers for your life.
38:21Joshua and Caleb were different.
38:23I want to give you some other markers for being different.
38:26Number one is your ministry input, what you put on the inside of you.
38:29You want to have a prayer life, pray daily, pray daily.
38:32Study your Bible daily, study your Bible.
38:35Fellowship with other believers.
38:36There are some things that you gain from fellowship with one another that strengthens you and it disciples you
38:42and you learn from their experiences and learn from their mistakes.
38:45And then you share your faith and you share your testimony with other people.
38:48The more you share, he who teaches others must learn the lesson twice.
38:52And so share your story with others.
38:55That's something that's for ministry input.
38:57The second one is mind, is your mind.
38:59You need to do something for your mind.
39:01We got more mental issues and dementia and schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
39:07You got to do something for your mind.
39:08Read daily, read daily, exercise regularly.
39:13It keeps blood flow going through your body.
39:16Your brain needs blood flow.
39:18If you got an aneurysm, it's a stoppage where blood can't reach that brain.
39:22You got to exercise.
39:24Learn new skills.
39:25It keeps your mind sharp.
39:27Spend time reflecting, reflect.
39:30Reflection turns experience into insight.
39:33Reflection.
39:34Don't just live life forward.
39:36Life can only be lived forward but it can only be understood backwards.
39:39Spend time in reflection.
39:41And then journal, journal those thoughts of reflection.
39:45Whatever has come out of you so that you're able to capture it.
39:48Capture it in a book, you know.
39:50This is a book that is a reflection of what God did in the life of a people.
39:55And we know about how God brought Daniel out of the lion's den.
39:59But your grandchildren need to know how you got out of your den of depression.
40:03Write your story.
40:05Write your story.
40:06So that's the mind.
40:08Then you need to do something for your mouth.
40:13Eat whole foods, whole healthy foods.
40:16Drink plenty of water.
40:18Drink it down.
40:19Avoid processed food as best you can.
40:22And speak wholesome words.
40:24You reap what you sow.
40:25Speak wholesome words.
40:27These are things that are healthy for your mouth.
40:29Now next for your mood because, you know, some people are so moody.
40:33Practice gratitude.
40:35I mean, just make a habit of at least three things for which you are grateful every single day.
40:40Practice gratitude.
40:42Just as if somebody does something for you, start with a waitress, a waiter, a server in a restaurant.
40:48Thank people when they do something for you.
40:50Somebody brings you something, thank them.
40:51Somebody gives you direction, thank them.
40:53Practice gratitude on every level, every place that you go.
40:57Then connect with friends and loved ones.
41:00Connect with friends and loved ones.
41:01It will change your mood.
41:02You can sit home by yourself.
41:04The devil will throw you a pity party and invite you as the guest of honor.
41:10So connect with friends.
41:11Connect with loved ones.
41:12And then get sufficient rest.
41:14Some people are really ornery because they're tired.
41:19Just get some rest.
41:21Your mood will improve drastically.
41:23You know, I'm one of those people who becomes hangry when I get hungry.
41:27I need to eat.
41:29If I'm gone a certain bit of time, you know, my mood might shift a little.
41:33And don't take it personally.
41:35I just need something to eat.
41:38You get sufficient rest and then get out in nature.
41:41There's something about getting out in nature, the serenity of nature.
41:44It'll just calm you down.
41:46Something about the sunshine, the fresh air.
41:49And you see, I'm what you call a pluviophile.
41:52You know what a pluviophile is?
41:53A lover of rain.
41:55It is very cathartic to me.
41:57It is very cleansing to me.
41:58I just love it when the rain is coming.
42:00It's so calm.
42:01I sleep so well to the sounds of raindrops.
42:04I really do.
42:06And then practice a hobby.
42:08It'll improve your mood.
42:10It's not work.
42:11It's a hobby.
42:12It's something that you ought to enjoy doing.
42:13Then you can listen to inspirational, relaxing music.
42:15Just do it.
42:16It'll improve your mood.
42:17And then be discerning of what you look at and what you listen to.
42:20Be discerning of what you look at and what you listen to.
42:24Go see the forge.
42:26There'll be something that'll feed your spirit.
42:29I'm telling you.
42:30Yes.
42:31It'll lift you.
42:32It'll encourage you.
42:33It'll strengthen your faith.
42:35It'll give you something to stretch for.
42:37It'll improve your mood.
42:38But be discerning.
42:39Because you see, when the devil wants to bring doubt into your life,
42:42he always comes through the eyes.
42:45And when God wants to bring faith, he comes through the ears.
42:47Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
42:52So doubt comes through the eyes.
42:53Faith comes through the ears.
42:56You know, you believe in God for something, and then the devil says,
42:58Oh, you're going to do what?
43:00Oh, you're going to buy two houses?
43:03Have you seen your checkbook balance?
43:07You've been to your account, jealous?
43:09And he'll show you that.
43:11He'll show you the doctor's report and make you doubt.
43:14Doubt comes through the eyes.
43:15Faith comes through the ears.
43:17And then the fifth thing here is money.
43:20Money.
43:22And about who's in love,
43:24you know that romance without finance is a nuisance.
43:34Money is amoral.
43:35It is amoral.
43:36It has no morality.
43:37It's what you do with it that makes it good or evil.
43:41And money is not the root of all evil.
43:43It's the inordinate affection.
43:45It's the love of money where you've got it in an improper place of priority
43:51that makes it an evil.
43:53So under money, you need to establish a sensible budget.
43:56You need to track your expenses.
43:58If you don't track it, listen, whatever you don't measure,
44:00it's impossible to improve.
44:02If you don't measure it, you can't improve it.
44:04Then save regularly.
44:05Invest wisely.
44:07Listen, if you don't know enough about it, get a financial counselor.
44:11Get a financial counselor, a financial mentor,
44:13and then prepare for your future
44:16because broke folks prepare for Saturday night,
44:19but rich folks prepare for the next generation.
44:21And let me just tell you, interestingly enough,
44:32the things that are the greatest predictors of our happiness
44:36have very little to do with money,
44:38but it has everything to do with relationships.
44:41Relationships are the currency of life.
44:45Relationships are the currency of life.
44:50Relationships.
44:52What good does it do for you to have everything,
44:56to have the world, and you have nobody with whom to enjoy?
45:00If you don't have somebody that you can laugh with,
45:03somebody that you can cry with,
45:05somebody that you can talk to to celebrate your victories,
45:09that's a poverty of soul.
45:12But what makes people happy is relationships,
45:15and what keeps people healthy is relationships
45:18because you have something to live for.
45:22I had a lady to tell me that she had tried for 25 years
45:25to get her husband to quit smoking,
45:29and he ignored her.
45:32But one day, his 3-year-old little granddaughter
45:38came and took her little hands
45:40and put her grandfather's cheeks in her little hands,
45:45and she said,
45:46Papa, I want you to stop smoking
45:50so you can be alive to come to my wedding.
45:56And he pulled his last drag
45:59and put that cigarette out
46:01and never lit another one
46:04because he wanted to be there
46:07for his grandbaby's wedding.
46:12Real love brings out the best in people,
46:16and somebody pushing you to do your best
46:19is not an attack.
46:21It's an act of love.
46:25Get over that everybody's attacking you
46:27and receive it as an act of love
46:29that they want better for me.
46:32They're trying to call the best out of me.
46:35You need people in your life
46:37who will push you to become better.
46:41You know why?
46:42Because that kind of love, love promotes,
46:45love celebrates,
46:47and love does not settle,
46:49but love excels.
46:51Love excels.
46:532 Corinthians chapter 8 and verse 7 says this,
46:56But as you excel in everything,
46:59notice not just one or two things,
47:01because excellence is a habit.
47:03How you do anything is how you do everything.
47:06But as you excel in everything,
47:09in faith, in speech, in knowledge,
47:12in all earnestness, and in our love for you,
47:15see that you excel in this act of grace also.
47:19You're designed to excel.
47:22And that's why parents want the best for their children.
47:24That's why they push them.
47:25I know that there are some extreme cases,
47:27but you never let the behavior of the extreme
47:29keep you from doing what is right and good.
47:34There's a middle of the road.
47:37And the people who are different in this life
47:40choose discipline over comfort.
47:43Nothing grows in the comfort zone.
47:45People who are different,
47:47they choose discipline over comfort.
47:51Excuses make today easy but tomorrow hard,
47:54but discipline makes today hard and tomorrow easy.
47:57Choose discipline.
47:59You'll either know the pain of regret
48:01or the pain of discipline, but you will know one.
48:04And I just encourage you today
48:08to ask God to help you to be different.
48:13What's going to be different going forward?
48:16What's going to be different going forward in your life?
