00:00It's been over 12 months since the Galaxy S23 Ultra was officially launched, so I think
00:07it's a very good time to re-review it, to make an updated review on this phone, to find
00:12out if right now, in 2024, it is still a viable and usable phone.
00:18As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about the exterior design, which,
00:23as you can see, is quite similar to the previous model, to the S22 Ultra, with only a few small
00:29shape differences on the side edges to make it more ergonomic.
00:33I've already said this many, many times, and I'll say it again, without a doubt in my mind,
00:39I believe this is the most beautiful design that Samsung has ever created for one of their
00:45phones.
00:46It is very elegant, feels very good in your hands, it's also made out of very premium
00:50materials, although, well, I have a little gripe with it, and it's that it's incredibly
00:55big.
00:56It has a 6.8 inch display, with very pointy edges, that makes it almost impossible to
01:03use with one hand, unless you're Shaquille O'Neal, and this is something a lot of people
01:07don't think about, but it's very important.
01:10If you're sitting on a chair all day on your computer, at work, or at college, school,
01:15you don't really need to use the phone with only one hand, well, it's fine, you can buy
01:19the S23 Ultra, no problem, but if you're one of those people who spends their days outside
01:24of the house, moving from one place to the other, I mean, maybe this is not the phone
01:29for you, because as I said, it is almost impossible to use with one hand.
01:35But anyways, in terms of the internal components, it obviously has the best of the best of 2023,
01:41which in this case, is the Snapdragon 8 Generation 2, optimized for Samsung.
01:47Pay close attention, my friends, this is not the normal Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 like
01:52on the rest of the high-end phones from Android, it has a version of this processor that's
01:57been customized to get the most out of the S23, so of course, it is as fast as it gets
02:04in the Android game, there's no app that doesn't open instantaneously, there's no game that
02:08can be played at maximum settings, I would even say it has spare performance right now,
02:13you can't really take advantage of the full capacity of this processor, which may seem
02:18a little stupid, but it's not, because for example, iPhones now can play console level
02:23games and very soon, you will be able to do the same thing on Android phones, so thanks
02:28to having this spare performance, you will be able to play these games on the S23 without
02:33having to spend another pile of money on a new phone, which by the way, speaking of spending
02:38piles of money to buy new phones, I need to tell you that right now, the S23 Ultra has
02:44a very, very good price on Amazon, I left a direct link in the description and I heavily
02:51recommend that at the end of the video, you go check it out, because I think it has like
02:55a $400, $500 discount as opposed to the original price, so if you were thinking about buying
03:01it, remember that at the end of the video, you should click the link, but anyways, let's
03:06move on, let's talk about the battery life, another very strong point on this phone, because
03:11as you can see, it has more juice than the S23 and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which were already
03:18very good phones in terms of battery life, more specifically, it is going to give you
03:23around 8 hours of use, depending on the things you do with it, which I believe is more than
03:28enough for the majority of people watching this, unless you spend the entire day outside
03:33of the house and you spend the entire day using the phone, you are going to have absolutely
03:38no problems with the S23 Ultra.
03:41And well, finally, it is time to talk about the display, another very, very strong point
03:47on this phone, because in this case, it has everything, and everything means everything,
03:54120 hertz LTPO panel that varies the refresh rate for maximum fluidity, on top of a top
04:01tier OLED display with 1750 nits of brightness and extremely thin vessels.
04:07It has absolutely everything, although I have to say that one of the features that
04:13it includes, which is the fact that it has a 1440p panel as opposed to 1080p, which was
04:18what most phones have, well, that feature is not really visible to the naked eye.
04:25I have had the S23 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the S23 normal version, which
04:32has a 1080p display, and there are absolutely no differences in terms of sharpness between
04:37these phones, because it is a very tiny device with a very tiny display.
04:42If you can barely notice the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a monitor, you're not going
04:48to be able to notice that difference on a phone.
04:51So I mean, I guess it's nice to have because you have spare sharpness, I guess.
04:56But if you're not going to notice it, it's just a feature that's draining more battery
05:00life than it should for absolutely no gains in terms of viewing experience.
05:06But anyways, it's time to talk about the most important part of the phone, the cameras.
05:11As you can see, I'm recording right now with the main sensor, the main camera on the S23
05:15Ultra, and well, it looks incredible.
05:18We get natural bokeh effect, we get a lot of detail, we get great colors.
05:22More specifically, we get four cameras on the back of the S23 Ultra.
05:26We get a main sensor, which is the one you're looking at right now, and that has 200 megapixels.
05:33Absolutely insane.
05:34Then we get two zoom cameras, a 3x and a 10x, both at 10 megapixels, and we get an ultrawide
05:40sensor at 12 megapixels.
05:43As always, I'm going to give you another minute of photos from all of the cameras, zooming
05:47in so you can see the little details, and then I'll come back to give you my conclusions
05:52and talk about the selfie camera.
07:22Okay, what do you think?
07:24As I said earlier, absolutely insane.
07:27The main sensor is out of this world.
07:30The ultrawide sensor is out of this world.
07:32Maybe the zoom cameras are a little bit below what we can see on other phones, but just
07:38a little bit.
07:39And the selfie, by the way, this is incredible.
07:42Samsung always kills it with the selfie camera.
07:45This makes no sense.
07:47Look at the dynamic range.
07:48You can see the clouds in my face and my little hairs on my nose.
07:52On a selfie camera on a phone, I never thought this was going to be possible.
07:57So if you were wondering if, oh, maybe the S23 Ultra is not good enough in terms of video
08:02or photo, it is good enough.
08:05Very, very good.
08:06So conclusion, is the S23 Ultra worth it in 2024?
08:11Yes, it is worth it.
08:14Very worth it because it packs up very beastly features, high end features, almost identical
08:20to the ones on the S24 Ultra, but it is a lot cheaper, a lot cheaper in comparison.
08:27So you can get last year's model, get almost all the features and spend a lot less money
08:32you can use to buy another phone, a pair of headphones, or even a fucking iPad for that
08:37much money.
08:38I mean, it's a lot of money.
08:40So yeah, remember, link in the description to Amazon with the best price just in case
08:45you're interested.
