00:00Yes, my friends, today I'm going to review, or to re-review, the Samsung Galaxy S21.
00:09From the exterior design, to the processor, going through all of its cameras, to find
00:14out if it's still worth it two and a half years later in 2023.
00:19As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about the price.
00:23Right now, the S21 is available completely new for about $500 on Amazon.
00:29Of course, like in every video, you have a link in the description directly to Amazon
00:34to specifically the best price I found on Amazon.
00:38But hey, let's move on to the design category, which, as you can see, is one of the strong
00:43points on this phone, and well, on pretty much all Galaxy S phones.
00:48It's made out of glass and aluminum, with simple but elegant lines, and an unbeatable
00:53feeling in your hand.
00:54If you've ever tried one of the latest Galaxy S phones, you know what I'm talking about.
00:59They're very aesthetic, they have very good materials, and above all else, they are very,
01:04very ergonomic.
01:06As for the processor, we have a Snapdragon 888, which was the best processor you could
01:11put on an Android phone two years ago, and therefore, of course, it is an absolute killing
01:17machine whatever you throw at it.
01:21Every application works super well, stable and fast, the system moves fluidly and without
01:26any irregularities or performance failures, and you can play all the games you want no
01:31matter how demanding they are, you won't have any performance issues.
01:35We're talking about an almost identical user experience to what you can get with a Galaxy
01:40S22, with the only difference being that the S22, of course, being a newer phone, has a
01:46little bit more power to spare.
01:48But that's only going to be noticeable in a couple of years.
01:51Right now in 2023, both of these phones work absolutely identical, you're not going to
01:56notice any differences.
01:58But anyways, that being said, let's move on to another very good feature and quite acclaimed
02:04on the S21, which is the battery life.
02:08But before we talk about the battery life, I have to tell you again, because it's important
02:12that you have a discount link in the description for the S21, the best price on the internet.
02:18So if you're interested in buying it, at least check it out at the end of the video.
02:23Because we have to keep talking about the battery, which as I said, is a very good component
02:27on this phone.
02:28As you can see, it is not as good as the one on the S22, but don't let that fool you.
02:34It is still an amazing battery, and unless you're addicted to your phone, you will very
02:39comfortably get till the end of the day.
02:41More specifically, it will give you around 8 hours of screen-on time under normal conditions.
02:47Before we move on to the screen, surprise, another very good component on the S21.
02:53It has an OLED panel with 120 Hz, 1200 nits of brightness, and obviously, the most high-end
03:00panel available at the time it came out, which are specs that are well ahead of their time.
03:05Remember, this phone came out in 2021, and at that time, not every phone had 120 Hz and
03:12over 1000 nits of brightness.
03:14By the way, let me emphasize again on the panel quality of this phone.
03:19A lot of people, when they want a good display on their phones, they look for resolution,
03:23they look for brightness, they look for refresh rate, which sure, are important factors to
03:28a display, but the most important piece of technology that's put into a display and that
03:34affects its quality is the panel.
03:37If you have a bad panel, doesn't matter if it's high refresh rate, very bright, OLED,
03:42any name you want to throw at it, it's going to look bad.
03:46That's why there's $300 Xiaomi's with technically on paper the same specs as $1000 Samsung phones
03:53or $1000 iPhones.
03:55It's because sure, on paper, they have the same specs, the same numbers, but the panel
04:00quality on the Xiaomi is way worse than the panel quality on the Samsung phone.
04:04That's a thousand bucks.
04:06And finally, it is time to talk about the most important component on this phone, the
04:11cameras.
04:13As you can see, we have three lenses on the back, a 12 megapixel main, a 64 megapixel
04:17zoom lens, and a 12 megapixel ultra wide, and they are all very, very good.
04:23This is actually the first year where Samsung heavily increased the size of the sensors
04:29in the cameras to, you know, let in more light for the colors to look more real and for there
04:34to be a little bit more depth of field, which is something you could also see on Apple's
04:38camp with the iPhone thirteens.
04:40And it really makes a big difference in the way videos and photos look.
04:45And it really makes a very big difference in the way pictures and videos look.
04:49The bigger the sensor, the more light gets in and the more information you can capture.
04:54So everything looks better.
04:56It doesn't look like a phone video.
04:58It looks more like a, like a say under a thousand dollar video camera, DSLR camera almost.
05:03But anyways, I know what you really care about here are the photos.
05:06So I'm going to show you a bunch of photos from the three cameras zooming in.
05:10So you can see the small details on each one of the cameras, and then I'll come back to
05:14give you my conclusions and talk about the other camera, the selfie camera.
05:18Let's go
06:36Okay.
06:59So those were all the main cameras on these phone.
07:02I've seen very, very big improvements, especially on the main camera, as opposed to last year.
07:07As I said, because of the sensor size, the bigger the sensor, everything is better.
07:11That's why cinema cameras are so big, because you need a very big sensor to capture a lot
07:16of light and a lot of detail makes everything better.
07:19You can capture a more dynamic range too.
07:21And that doesn't really apply to the selfie camera though.
07:24I think it's pretty much identical, which is not a bad thing because the S20 had a very
07:28good selfie camera.
07:29But all the big changes on the rear cameras are enough to make it a worth upgrade over
07:34the S20, even though the selfie camera is, I would say, almost identical.
07:40So yeah, adding up all of these components, the amazing processor, the very good battery
07:45life, the very good panel quality, the very good camera system.
07:49I think that if you're looking to get a phone that is around the $500 price range, this
07:55is one of the best options, if not the best.
07:58If you're looking for an Android phone specifically, I would say this is the best option available
08:03right now for $500.
08:05So yeah, I recommend it.
08:06I very highly recommend it.
08:09And let me remind you one more time that you have a discount link in the description to
08:14Amazon.
08:15Very good price right now.
