00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. There's been plenty of
00:04autumnal sunshine across the U.K. today as high pressure has dominated the weather pattern.
00:10However, it is all change as we head towards the weekend. High pressure slips away, low
00:15pressure moves in and we see stronger winds and outbreaks of rain across the country,
00:19particularly by Sunday. But for the rest of Thursday evening, plenty of dry weather, clear
00:25spells across England and Wales, parts of Scotland. However, as we move through into
00:29the early hours, thicker cloud approaches parts of Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
00:34thick enough for some patchy light rain and drizzle here. The wind's starting to pick
00:38up across England and Wales with light winds and clear skies. With recent heavy rain, the
00:42ground is quite saturated, so a recipe for some mist and fog patches. So there could
00:47be some tricky travelling conditions first thing across parts of England and Wales on
00:52Friday morning. Temperatures, towns and cities around the mid-single figures low, lower than
00:57that in the countryside, a touch of frost possible, but mild and grey across Northern
01:01Ireland. North West Scotland, Friday morning, outbreaks of patchy rain, the wind starting
01:06to pick up here, particularly around the coast. And through the day here, it stays quite grey,
01:10further outbreaks of rain, largely light and patchy, but a few moderate or heavy bursts
01:14are possible. Across England and Wales, generally eastern parts of Scotland as well, still under
01:20the influence of high pressure, plenty of sunny spells, the wind just picking up a little
01:25around some western coasts of England and Wales. And temperatures again, the mid-teens
01:29for many of us, perhaps locally 16 or 17 in the best of the sunshine, so feeling quite
01:35pleasant out there. Into the evening time, further bands of rain pushing across Northern
01:39Ireland, Western Scotland through into the early hours, turning increasingly heavy though
01:44as we head through the night. This starting to approach western parts of Northern England
01:48and Wales as well, but largely dry for the rest of England and Wales, some fog patches
01:53forming once more. The lowest temperatures towards east and south-east England, not quite
01:58as low as recent nights. Further west, as the wind picks up and the cloud and rain continues
02:04here, temperatures in double figures. So, Saturday, a wet start across the north-west
02:09of the UK, outbreaks of rain again here, further rain through the day. But England and Wales,
02:14generally a bright start, fog patches clearing, plenty of sunny spells to come. However, as
02:19we go through into the afternoon, this band of heavy rain starts approaching the far west.
02:24Northern Ireland, perhaps drier for a time, but the rain reaching western Wales, the west
02:28country, through the afternoon into the evening time. Further east, holding on to the best
02:33of any bright or sunny spells, but turning increasingly hazy. The winds coming up from
02:37the south, pretty brisk around the western side of the UK. So, importing fairly mild
02:43there for the time of year, 15, 16, locally 17 degrees, perhaps a little higher in the
02:47best of the sunshine towards the south and south-east. And then if we take a quick look
02:53into Sunday, we'll see it turning more unsettled. Rain initially clearing to sunshine and showers
02:59fairly blustery, but the wind's still coming in from the south, so temperatures largely
03:04above average across many areas. So, if you'd like more information on the weather where
03:09you are, you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again soon.
