00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s so-called dream come true
00:04is the Panggil Bay Bridge.
00:07The President is positive that it will greatly help
00:10the economy and tourism in Northern Mindanao.
00:14Jay Lagang has more.
00:18During a pick-up,
00:19President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally
00:22brought the Panggil Bay Bridge
00:24to Pasado Las Gis this morning.
00:27It is part of the formal inauguration of the bridge
00:30that is considered the longest sea-crossing bridge in Mindanao.
00:34The President is accompanied by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
00:38After the drive-thru,
00:40the President also led the unveiling of the marker
00:43and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
00:45The Panggil Bay Bridge is considered
00:47an important infrastructure flagship project
00:50or IFP under the Build Better More Program
00:53of the Marcos Jr. Administration.
00:56For the President, this is a dream come true.
01:00Today, the waiting is ended.
01:03We are here for the inauguration of the Panggil Bay Bridge project,
01:07a day that we have long looked forward to.
01:10If we take all the time from the very moment
01:14of conception of this bridge until today,
01:17it has been four decades.
01:20That is why we continuously are commenting on the fact
01:27that how happy all of us are to be here today
01:31to open this bridge so that it can service
01:35both the Misamis Occidental side and the Lanao del Norte side
01:40and the advantages that it will bring.
01:43Years of planning, months of hard work,
01:46countless hurdles,
01:48and now we stand before the realization of one
01:51of the infrastructure flagship projects
01:54of this administration.
01:56Costing more than P8 billion pesos,
01:59this 3.2-kilometer project is now
02:02the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao.
02:06The Panggil Bay Bridge was built on February 20, 2020
02:10with a budget of more than P8 billion pesos
02:13under a loan agreement between the Philippine government
02:17and the Korean Export-Import Bank.
02:19In his State of Nation Address last July,
02:22President Marcos emphasized the importance of connectivity
02:26in Mindanao, specifically mentioning the Panggil Bay Bridge
02:30as one of the two major spans to be opened.
02:34That day is today.
02:36The completion of this project exemplifies the success
02:40of the Build Better More program
02:42and demonstrates the government's unwavering commitment
02:45to the development of Mindanao.
02:47Due to the fact that the two-hour trip from Tubud to Lanao del Norte
02:53to Tanggub City in Misamis Occidental
02:56will only take seven minutes,
02:58this two-way, two-lane bridge is 3.1 kilometers long.
03:03The infrastructure will help people,
03:06products, and services to move faster
03:09that will help the development of the region.
03:12According to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonuan,
03:15the bridge was designed to accommodate the magnitude 8 earthquake.
03:42We have embarked on this remarkable journey.
03:45Today, under the listenership of President Ferdinand Marcos,
03:49our efforts have successfully led to the completion
03:52of this vital infrastructure which is now ready to unveil.
03:58More than 10,000 vehicles can be accommodated
04:02by the Panggil Bay Bridge every day
04:04and more visitors and tourists are expected to be interested
04:08in visiting this place because of its natural beauty.
04:11This is something that the provincial governments
04:14here in Northern Mindanao should be thankful for.
04:16We sincerely thank you, Mr. President,
04:18that the project was fully implemented and completed during your tenure.
04:23Thank you, Mr. President, for supporting and expediting
04:26the implementation of the project within 27 months in your administration.
04:35The completion of the project will surely contribute
04:38to the attainment of our provincial vision
04:41of a more peaceful, progressive, and happy Philippines.
04:52This project is a shining example
04:55of how the Bagong Pilipinas campaign
04:58can transform lives and communities.
05:02For me, the Bagong Pilipinas campaign
05:05is not just about infrastructure.
05:08It is about creating a principled,
05:11accountable, and dependable government
05:14that works for the people.
05:16DPWH is cooperating with law enforcement agencies
05:21to maintain and improve the Panggil Bay Bridge.
05:25From Tubud, Lanao del Norte,
