00:00Cordillera region has also been alerted to the effects of Hurricane Christine,

00:05especially the flash floods and landslide-prone areas.

00:17The local government of Baguio City is now preparing the possible effects of Hurricane Christine in the city.

00:24According to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong,

00:27the city needs to prepare for the possible landslide-prone areas of the city.

00:34While the wind is not a major concern, it's the rain.

00:40The heavy rain because looking at the latest forecast,

00:45there's still a rainfall of 48 mm and that's quite alarming.

00:51Because of the storm, the Mayor canceled his trip to Canada to monitor the situation of the city.

00:59The affected residents in the landslide-prone areas also need to be warned before the storm hits.

01:06I'm expecting that the heavy rain will be there 24-25.

01:10So maybe there will be a cancellation of classes.

01:14Maybe one day before, we need to tell them.

01:18Meanwhile, Baguio City residents are hoping for the storm to pass first

01:26because of the possible effects of the storm.

01:29The Office of the Civil Defense Cordillera is alerted for any possible effects of the storm.

01:34The province of Cordillera, which is prone to flooding,

01:39such as Abra, Calinga, Apayaw, and Ifugaw,

01:43and the landslide-prone areas of all the provinces, are alerted.

01:46The office is also alerted because of the bad weather.

01:50Today, the office is conducting a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment.

01:55The Cordillera Administrative Region, through the Regional DRM Council,

02:00is already preparing.

02:01We are already issuing preparedness directives for October 19, 2024.

02:06We are hoping to increase our alert status to Blue Alert

02:10while we are waiting for the possible effects of the storm.

02:16The OCDCAR assured that the LGUs in Cordillera are ready

02:20based on the latest monitoring and presentation by the local governments.

02:25According to the data obtained by the OCD to the LGUs,

02:29food and non-items are enough for the affected residents

02:33if they need them because of the effects of the storm.

02:38We have already given the local government units,

02:41particularly the LGUs to the tourists.

02:43The DSWD Cordillera assured that all food and non-food items

02:49in all the provinces are prepositioned.

02:51As of now, it is sunny here in Baguio City

02:54and many tourists are walking through tourist spots

02:57while the weather is clear.
