00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's fine across the North West today, clouds across central and eastern areas,
00:07and towards the south, watch out for some heavy rain.
00:10So through this morning, it's chilly if you're stepping out first thing across western Scotland,
00:14at least there you'll see some sunshine. Sunshine also, particularly for the western side of the Central Belt.
00:18Northern Ireland, a very similar situation, cool but bright.
00:21We run into the clouds across Aberdeenshire, border regions,
00:24down towards Northern Council of England as well as North Wales.
00:27There could be some rain mixed in there where the cloud is thick enough.
00:30Drier but cloudier conditions across the Midlands, the cloud could break at times,
00:34but notice this rain close by, and notice some bright echoes representing some heavy downpours,
00:40hence the reason why there's a rain warning across southern counties of England and Wales
00:44throughout today and into tomorrow.
00:46One or two spots over 48 hours could see up to 100 millimetres of rain,
00:50so there will be problems on the roads, spray, poor visibility, localised flooding as well.
00:55So through the morning, this cloud here will be quite stubborn,
00:58it's going to feel cool along the east coast with that northeast breeze,
01:01and again some dampness in the air.
01:03Brighter skies coming through across much of Scotland, away from the east side,
01:07Northern Ireland as well, but this rain pivots and extends across southeast Wales
01:11towards southern counties, and more rain moves in also, showery rain across the west country.
01:15And again, we could see some heavy downpours through the afternoon
01:19and into evening rush hour this evening.
01:22This wind continues to blow from the northeast, and that means more cloud from time to time,
01:27and temperatures peg back here 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
01:31Along the western side of Scotland though, 21 Celsius will be your high,
01:3519 or 20 across the western side of the central belt, 18 degrees for Belfast, Newry,
01:41but with this northern component of the wind, temperatures have been pegged back a little bit today,
01:45they're going to be higher tomorrow.
01:47And even a disappointing day further south where you've seen some brightness,
01:51but also that keen wind.
01:53Here's your warning zone across central and southern parts of England and Wales,
01:56extending through this evening and overnight,
01:59and feeling cool under the clouds and rain across these parts.
02:03So as we head through this evening and overnight, again there'll be problems if you are driving in this rain,
02:09it's going to be heavy at times.
02:11This cloud thickens along this eastern side, down towards much of the Midlands as well as Wales,
02:15eastern parts of Scotland, and again you can see some patchy rain and drizzle.
02:19Clearer skies across western Scotland and Northern Ireland,
02:22a chilly morning come Friday morning, but the sun will get to work quite nicely.
02:27And this rain becomes mostly confined to southern counties of England,
02:30but it could nudge northwards from time to time through Friday,
02:33and again the rain could be heavy.
02:35But through the day, notice these temperatures, so where you catch the sunshine,
02:39in shelter, particularly across central and western areas of Scotland,
02:42we could see 25, 26 degrees Celsius,
02:45making it the warmest day since May, where Adngar Garth saw 25.6 Celsius.
02:51So currently 22 to 25, let's see how it works out on Friday,
02:55but it's certainly feeling warm and pleasant,
02:57and much warmer for Northern Ireland, 22 degrees Celsius here.
03:00Now the wind's lost its northerly component along this eastern side,
03:04still an easterly wind though, delivering that cloud on Friday,
03:07but the cloud will break at times, allowing for some sunshine,
03:09certainly for places such as Lancashire, Cumbria, you'll see some brighter weather.
03:13And we'll see some brighter skies coming through across the Midlands as well,
03:17but this rain never too far away.
03:19So temperatures are on the up on Friday, even so,
03:22watch out for that heavy rain across more southern counties.
03:25So that's the picture on Friday, let's have a look at Saturday.
03:28Saturday, the cloud will wax and wane along the eastern side of Scotland, northeast England.
03:34Inland though, some brighter weather, Northern Ireland seeing a 21,
03:37and then watch out for showers further south across England and Wales,
03:41they could be heavy across central and southern parts,
03:43and your outlook then through Sunday.
