00:00Hello, good afternoon. Well it's been a tale of two halves this morning, cold and
00:04bright in the south but milder in the north, a little bit damp and quite
00:08blustery in the northwest too. And why is there this split in the weather? Well
00:13we've currently got high pressure which is dominating the weather in the south
00:16but low pressure to the north of the country and that's sweeping in some
00:20weather front, so some cloud and some rain and notice a squeeze in the
00:24isobars too, so some blustery winds in the northwest. But as we head through
00:28into the weekend we'll eventually say goodbye to this cold front sweeping
00:32southeastwards across the country and we've got high pressure building so lots
00:36of fine and settled weather to come as we head into next week. Before that
00:42though for Saturday afternoon we have got this band of rain moving into
00:46Northern Ireland sweeping its way eastwards across parts of Scotland and
00:50plenty of blustery winds behind this too. But elsewhere we've got plenty of dry
00:56and settled weather where that high pressure is taking hold and where you do
01:00catch the sunshine it is going to be feeling warm, much warmer than of late.
01:03Highs of 18-19 Celsius down in the southeast. Now heading into the evening
01:10we'll continue to see that band of rain slowly sink its way southeastwards
01:14through into the Scottish borders, northern parts of England and Wales and
01:17still there's plenty of blustery showers moving into western parts of Scotland,
01:22Northern Ireland may even catch the odd one or two and still fairly blustery
01:26winds but they will eventually ease off as we head into Sunday. But to the south
01:30of this band plenty of clear skies so it is going to be turning quite chilly,
01:34quite cold, a chance we could see some localised grass frost in rural spots
01:38across the south. So still with that split in the weather cold and clear to
01:43the south of this rain and fairly mild and blustery to the north. So for the
01:49second half of the weekend then we've essentially got three zones of weather
01:53sunny spells and blustery showers across Scotland. Some of these showers could be
01:57quite heavy at times, may even see some hail and thunder mixed in there and they
02:00could band together at times to bring some heavier longer spells of rain too.
02:05Some rain pushing into northern parts of Wales just edging into the Midlands by
02:10the time we reach Sunday afternoon. Once again this could be a little bit heavy
02:13at times mainly across hilly areas but across the south and southeast still
02:17plenty of fine and dry weather though perhaps just a bit more cloud around
02:21compared to Saturday. But still warm once again temperatures up by a degree or two
02:26in the southeast so highs of 21 here but across the north temperatures more around
02:31average and just feeling a little bit cooler perhaps in those brisk winds
02:34because as I say those winds are going to be easing through the day. Now as we
02:39head into next week as I say that high pressure taking hold so there's going to
02:43be plenty of fine and dry weather around if you're unlucky this weekend and catch
02:47that cloud and rain and the temperatures are increasing as well so
02:50it is going to be feeling warm but a little bit breezy at times particularly
02:53northwest Scotland once again perhaps a little bit breezy in the south coast but
02:58of course if you want more updates on that you can always subscribe to our
