00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04For many it's a dry day with some bright skies, not the case across southern
00:08counties. Rain here and we continue with this showery regime across the
00:13northeast of Scotland, Northern Isles as well, strong winds. Now across the western
00:17periphery of Scotland expect some showers, they're running in across
00:20Northern Ireland down towards the Isle of Ann, a few for Wales, not as windy here
00:24and certainly a lighter breeze to start the day across much of England, central
00:28and southern parts of Scotland. But notice towards the south, here we're
00:31seeing an area of clouds just spilling northwards with some outbreaks of rain
00:35and this whole system here will skirt southern counties as we head through the
00:39day. Elsewhere through the morning it's mostly fine. So let's pick up on some
00:45detail through the first part of this morning. For the north and the east of
00:49Scotland those showers continue with a strong wind. Showers will clip the west
00:53coast of Scotland, certainly the Western Isles and some running down towards
00:57Northern Ireland. It's fine across central and southern parts of Scotland.
01:01Now England's seeing some fine weather as well as Wales but notice across the
01:05midlands, southern counties, thickening cloud then eventually some outbreaks of
01:09rain across the south coast from Dorset, Hampshire towards the home counties
01:14through the afternoon. Cloudier conditions across East Anglia, southern
01:18parts of Wales and the Midlands but brighter skies further north with some
01:21sunshine to end the day. Temperatures then 7, 8, 9 degrees Celsius, still that
01:26wind driving down across the northern and eastern areas of Scotland across the
01:29western side of Scotland towards Northern Ireland. Now through this
01:33evening and overnight expect further spells of rain across the south. It will
01:38bump up towards perhaps even Suffolk, home counties certainly, before retreating
01:43towards the low countries. Elsewhere a widespread frost will develop and extend
01:48southwards into Thursday morning. Showers continue across windward facing coasts
01:54through Thursday. Temperatures dipping close to freezing if not below, certainly
01:58sub-zero in the countryside where you find shelter under clearer skies and
02:02certainly with a lighter breeze. Now through Thursday morning that rain
02:07clears off the scene, brighter skies across many areas and even where you see
02:10those showers across northern Scotland they'll become more scattered as the
02:14winds tend to ease away from Shetland. At the same time a fine day for Northern
02:18Ireland and Western Scotland and that's because of this ridge of high pressure
02:22which extends across. But through Thursday evening another area of cloud
02:27and rain will move in swiftly across the west pushing down towards the south
02:31through Friday. But some fine weather behind it even with some sunshine on
02:35Friday. Temperatures up a notch, 8 or 9 Celsius. We hang on to some wet weather
02:40towards the south through the afternoon but it will clear. So all in all some
02:44brighter weather coming through. Watch out for the rain through today in the
02:47south, those showers in the north with a stronger wind. All in all though yes we'll
02:51see some fine weather on Thursday. I'll see you later.
