00:00Jitters and Japes. On the island of Sodor, the Fat Controller is proud to be the head of the railway.
00:11He is also proud of his family. The Fat Controller's mother, Dowager Hat, is very proud of her son.
00:21All the engines are excited when she visits Sodor.
00:30One morning, Thomas puffed into Knapford Station. The Fat Controller was in the stationmaster's office.
00:39Good morning, sir.
00:41Good morning, Thomas. I have a very special special for you.
00:46My mother, the Dowager Hat, would like to visit Misty Island.
00:51This made Thomas very happy.
00:55That's a very good idea, sir. Misty Island is a lot of fun.
01:00Quite so, Thomas. You will collect Dowager Hat from Maithwaite Station. Make sure she has an enjoyable visit.
01:09Yes, sir. I'll make sure it will be the most fun of all.
01:13Remember, Thomas, the Dowager Hat is an older person.
01:19Then the Fat Controller left.
01:22Toby puffed up.
01:25Jingle my bell, Thomas. Where are you going to take the Dowager?
01:31I don't know, Toby.
01:33Suddenly, an idea popped into his pistons.
01:37You're an older engine, Toby. What would you find fun to do on Misty Island?
01:43Toby thought and thought, as older engines like to do.
01:50I would like to puff slowly. I would like to rest my rods and let my wheels whir gently.
01:59I would like to stop, smile and see the sights.
02:04Thomas was very happy to hear this.
02:08Now I know exactly how to give Dowager Hat the most fun visit of all.
02:13Thank you, Toby.
02:15And Thomas steamed away smiling.
02:19Dowager Hat was waiting for Thomas.
02:23Thomas chuffed in cheerily.
02:26Good morning, Dowager Hat. All aboard for Misty Island.
02:30Good morning, Thomas. You're puffing very perkily.
02:34I am, Mum. This is going to be a very special day.
02:38Oh? Do you have a plan?
02:41Yes, I do, Mum.
02:43I see. I had a few thoughts myself. Let me see.
02:49Don't worry, Mum. Leave it to me. I know exactly what we're going to do.
02:54It will be lots and lots of fun.
02:57So Dowager Hat boarded Thomas and Thomas wheeshed away,
03:03clattering and chattering down the tunnel and out onto Misty Island.
03:10On Misty Island the mist was down.
03:14Bust my buffers!
03:17Dowager Hat peered out of the window.
03:20I can't sit past the end of my nose, Thomas.
03:24Don't worry, Mum. I know just what we'll do. It will be fun.
03:32Thomas took Dowager Hat to the top of a hill.
03:36Toby said he would like to stop and smile and see the sights.
03:41This is the perfect place to do that.
03:44So Dowager Hat stopped and saw the sights.
03:50But she didn't smile.
03:53This isn't fun, Thomas.
03:56Thomas was worried. He tried to puff Perkily.
04:01Don't worry, Mum. Our next stop will be fun.
04:05And Thomas steamed slowly away into the mist.
04:10Thomas took Dowager Hat to the Misty Island seashore.
04:15Toby said he would like to rest his rods.
04:19The seashore is the perfect place to do that.
04:22So Dowager Hat rested and rested.
04:27But she didn't smile.
04:30This isn't fun, Thomas.
04:34Thomas was even more worried.
04:37Then the mist began to lift.
04:41Don't worry, Mum. The mist is lifting.
04:44We'll have lots of fun now.
04:47And Thomas chopped chirply away.
04:50Thomas huffed and puffed through woods and valleys, uphill and down.
05:00Toby said he would like to puff slowly.
05:03He said he would like to let his wheels whir gently.
05:07This is the perfect way to do that.
05:10So Dowager Hat nodded gently.
05:14She sighed slowly.
05:16But she didn't smile.
05:18This isn't fun, Thomas. Stop now.
05:22Thomas screeched to a stop.
05:25His wheels wobbled with worry.
05:28I'm sorry, Mum. I thought you would think this was fun.
05:32It isn't and I don't want to do it anymore.
05:35Take me back to Sodor at once.
05:39Thomas felt so terrible he trembled.
05:43Cinders and ashes.
05:45I wanted to give you the most fun day of all and I've given you the worst day of all.
05:51I know the Fat Controller is going to be very, very cross with me.
05:55Thomas was sad.
05:57His steam sputtered and stuttered.
06:00Dowager Hat was booming.
06:03You said you had a plan.
06:05Why didn't you ask me what my plan was?
06:10Thomas felt silly.
06:13I'm sorry, Dowager Hat. I thought I knew what you would think was fun.
06:17Well, you didn't.
06:19I wanted thrills and spills, jokes and jips, jitters and flitters.
06:25That would be fun.
06:27Thomas was puzzled.
06:29I don't know what any of those things are.
06:32So I can't give Dowager Hat a fun day.
06:36Thomas pumped his pistons.
06:39I'll take you back to Sodor the fastest way I can puff, Mum.
06:43We'll go through the Hollow Tree Tunnel.
06:47And Thomas steamed sadly away.
06:51Thomas clickety-clacked fast on the tracks and through the Hollow Tree Tunnel.
06:58Then he heard Dowager Hat clapping and cheering.
07:03Hurray and hurrah! What thrills and spills!
07:06What jokes and jips!
07:09What jitters and flitters!
07:12This is fun!
07:15Thomas huffed to a halt.
07:18His boiler bubbled brightly.
07:21Now I know that Dowager Hat likes going fast.
07:24Hold on to your hat, Mum. This will be fun!
07:30Then Thomas roared and raced.
07:33Dowager Hat went red in the face.
07:36She was having so much fun.
07:39Thomas was her number one.
07:42The Shake Shake Bridge was next to sea.
07:46Dowager Hat was thrilled as could be.
07:50Shake, shake, make me quake, make me quake until I shake!
07:57Next, it was old Wheezy's time.
08:01Thomas raced up and down the line.
08:05Dowager Hat laughed till tea-time when it was time to go back.
08:12Thomas whooshed and wheeshed away from Misty Island and once more to Sodor.
08:20The Fat Controller was waiting.
08:23I have had the most fun ever, Bertram!
08:27I'm very pleased to hear that, Mother.
08:31Well done, Thomas!
08:33Thomas smiled from buffer to buffer.
08:36It had been a wonderful Misty Island day.
