00:00One day Thomas was at the quayside of a small village.
00:04The early morning catch of fish was being loaded into his trucks.
00:08The work took a long time.
00:10The fishermen were using old equipment and Thomas was worried.
00:13I'm going to be late for Henry at the docks. He won't like this.
00:17Please hurry up and...
00:19Thomas was rudely interrupted.
00:26His driver and fireman laughed.
00:30Phew! sniffed Thomas. What a pong!
00:34He was glad when they were speeding along the beautiful coastal run.
00:39As they approached the lighthouse they saw a man waving a red flag.
00:43What's the matter now?
00:45High tides are damaging the track, reported the man.
00:48I've marked the spot. We'll go and inspect, said the driver.
00:59It would be dangerous for heavy engines like Henry, agreed the driver, but for Thomas it's safe enough.
01:10The guard left a red oil lamp by the damaged track to warn engines.
01:14When we get to the docks I'll tell them to close the line.
01:24Henry was waiting anxiously for Thomas' trucks.
01:30Phwoar! You're late and that smell is making me ill.
01:36I can't help it. It's the fish, replied Thomas.
01:39And there's danger on the rails. That's why we're late.
01:42You're the only danger on the rails, Thomas.
01:44Now stop wasting time and get your trucks hitched to my train.
01:48Thomas' driver and fireman were in the yardmaster's office when they heard Henry's whistle.
01:55There he was, steaming out of the station with his long, heavy train called the Flying Kipper.
02:06What route is Henry taking tonight? asked the driver.
02:09The coastal run, it's the quickest.
02:11But I told you that's dangerous for a big engine like Henry.
02:15The yardmaster quickly phoned the signalman.
02:18Henry roared past the signal box.
02:21I'll soon make up for lost time.
02:26The signalman was answering the telephone but couldn't hear the warning.
02:29By the time he did, Henry was far away in a cloud of steam.
02:38But when Henry reached the coastal track, his hopes for a fast run were dashed.
02:43Fog floated everywhere.
02:45I can't see, cried Henry.
02:48Nor could his driver.
02:51When he could, it was too late.
02:59As soon as the tide was high enough, Henry was craned out of the water.
03:24Engines don't swim, Henry. You were meant to deliver fish, not swim with them, said the Fat Controller.
03:29You should know that by now.
03:31Yes, sir. I'm sorry, sir.
03:34When Henry arrived at the docks, Cranky the Crane looked down at him disdainfully.
03:39My, my, Henry. I expect you'll have some fishy tales to tell.
03:43But take my advice. Have a long hose down first.
03:47Ha! hissed Henry. But there was worse to come.
03:52Look, said a child. They've caught all this fish and a green whale too.
03:57It's not a whale. It's a monster.
04:00Henry was most upset.
04:02Thomas now felt sorry for Henry.
04:05Come on. Your driver says it's time for a nice hot washdown.
04:09Then you'll feel much better.
04:15And Henry did.
04:17I'm sorry I was rude to you, Thomas.
04:19Oh, that's all right.
04:21But can you smell something?
04:23What? asked Henry nervously.
04:25Fresh air.
04:27Oh, yes, replied Henry.
