00:00Thomas the Tank Engine loves his branch line.
00:15One day, when he stopped at a small station, some children looked sad.
00:20They've closed our playground and our favourite sand pit.
00:23Teacher said the sand is soiled and too dirty to play in.
00:26Please help us, Thomas, they pleaded.
00:29I'll see what I can do, replied Thomas kindly.
00:42Thomas hoped things weren't quite as bad as the children had made them out to be.
00:47But as he passed their playground, a large sign read,
00:50Playground closed until further notice.
00:53The children were right, thought Thomas sadly.
00:57He puffed into the yards and was just about to tell the other engines about the playground when Percy rushed in.
01:06You look glum, little Percy, what's up? asked Gordon.
01:09The Fat Controller told Driver that he's using Harold to show a special visitor the island,
01:14instead of using any of us engines.
01:16Despicable! said Gordon.
01:18Disgusting! snorted Henry.
01:21Engines are meant to take special visitors round our island, not that whirlybird thing!
01:25James exclaimed.
01:29Gordon was the first to see Harold.
01:35Harold thinks he can go faster than me. I'll show him!
01:41Next, it was Henry's turn.
01:43The Fat Controller has chosen Harold because he thinks he's more important than me.
01:47Well, he's not. Harold can't fly through tunnels.
01:56Percy stopped by a signal on his branch line near a field where sheep were grazing.
02:03Harold hovered for a while, then buzzed away.
02:07I know what he's doing! said Percy. He's counting sheep!
02:11And he puffed along his line feeling much better about things.
02:17That evening, the engines talked about the situation.
02:21Harold wants to get rid of us! said Gordon.
02:24He doesn't need tunnels! added Henry.
02:27Don't worry, he's just counting sheep! said Percy.
02:30Counting sheep? Pah! snorted Gordon.
02:33He's counting how many engines he can get rid of. He'll see how useful I am tomorrow.
02:38Thomas wanted to mention the children's playground,
02:41but solving the mystery of Harold and the special visitor came first.
02:47The next day, Gordon was travelling to collect his train.
02:51We'll show that whirlybird just how fast you can go, Gordon! said his driver.
02:57Because they were watching Harold, they missed a signal and went onto the wrong line.
03:03Gordon was travelling to trouble. Ahead was a tunnel under repair.
03:10His driver reduced steam and braked hard.
03:15But it was too late.
03:19Later, Thomas pulled Gordon clear with the breakdown train.
03:22The Fat Controller spoke severely to Gordon's driver about the accident.
03:26Will Gordon be scrapped, sir? asked Thomas sadly.
03:29What makes you think that? said the Fat Controller.
03:32Thomas decided to ask Gordon himself.
03:35The Fat Controller said,

03:43Thomas decided to pluck up courage.
03:46Because the engines think the special visitor is here to see if we can be replaced by Harold, he replied.
03:51The Fat Controller laughed.
03:53Well, the engines are wrong and you shouldn't listen to rumours, Thomas.
03:57This gentleman is making a new playground for the children.
04:00It was easier to find a suitable site from up in the air.
04:04And what's more, said the special visitor,
04:06that tunnel sand will be perfect for the playground.
04:09Found by accident and rumour, you might say.
04:15The Fat Controller still uses Harold to fly above the island.
04:21But all the engines know that Harold isn't spying on them.
04:25He is, in his way, just being very useful.
