AGC rejects Israeli's representation in firearms possession, trafficking case

The Attorney General's Chambers has dismissed a representation submitted on July 8 by Israeli man Avitan Shalom for a review of the charges of trafficking and possessing firearms made against him.

00:15Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Mustafa P. Kunyalam had requested the court to set
00:20a case management date due to pending documents, including the CCTV footage and forensic reports.
00:27The court also set September 2 for next mention.
00:30Meanwhile, Avitan's lawyer Datuk Naran Singh informed the court that he was no longer representing
00:35the accused, citing personal reasons.
00:38He said Avitan will now be represented by lawyer Jeffrey Uwi.
00:42The 38-year-old accused was charged trafficking six firearms and possessing 200 bullets.
00:48The charges were framed under Section 8, Subsection A of the Arms Act and Section 7, Subsection
00:531 of the Firearms Increase Penalties Act.
00:57Both offences were allegedly committed in a hotel room on Jalan Ampang in March this year.
