00:00Senators in the red carpet wore their own outfits before the session began.
00:08But in a statement by Senate President Francis Escudero,
00:11he mentioned some problems of the country that need to be addressed.
00:15Our people are overworked, underpaid, and overburdened.
00:20A comfortable life has clearly eluded them for generations.
00:25Their dreams and struggles, more than any policy paper,
00:30should provide what our legislative agenda should contain
00:34and should inspire us to work harder towards this end.
00:39I say that it is time to reframe our work
00:43and pivot to laws that will make the life of the Filipino easier.
00:49In Escudero's speech, he emphasized that he will put aside
00:52some talks that will only lead to the division of the public
00:56before they discuss the common legislative agenda
01:00agreed upon by the Executive and Legislative branches.
01:19But without the needless political noise and bickering,
01:22we'll be prioritized.
01:24This will allow us to focus our energy
01:26on measures which the people truly need.
01:29He wants laws that will truly help our fellow Filipinos,
01:34especially those passed by President Quezon.
01:38So we expect laws that are quality, practical,
01:44and will meet the needs of the people.
01:47And when it comes to the West Philippine Sea
01:49and the sovereignty of the Philippines,
01:51We will be friends, but we will not be enemies.
01:55We will discuss, but we will not be enemies.
02:08The agreement between the Philippines and China should be released.
02:15This should not be misunderstood.
02:19The whole page should be transparent.
02:26We don't want to show that we are the ones talking,
02:30even if this will escalate the tension,
02:33that we have surrendered.
02:36So this should be challenged in the DFA.
02:39They should release the agreement.
02:41On the opening of the session of the House of Representatives,
02:43House Speaker Martin Romualdez praised their legislative accomplishments.
02:47Romualdez gave all the necessary laws
02:50requested by the President in his zone last year,
02:54which they all passed.
02:56As we open the third regular session of the 19th Congress,
03:00we ride on the momentum of our significant achievements
03:03of the first and regular sessions.
03:06Our unwavering commitment to unity and progress
03:09has paved the way for transformative laws
03:12that uplift and empower every Filipino.
03:16Our mission is clear.
03:18Build a Philippines where every citizen can live with dignity,
03:22opportunity, and hope.
03:25The House of Representatives addressed the issues of food security,
03:29climate change, social protection,
03:31tourism, public health, public order and safety,
03:34and other important issues in the country.
03:36As of now, Romualdez said,
03:38one of the things they will pay attention to
03:40is the swift but decisive passage of the 2025 National Budget.
