00:00With barely a day and a quarter left in the major event of Traslacion kicks off,

00:05Quiapo Church is gradually being swamped by a steady stream of devotees from near and far,

00:11eager to listen to the Word of God in liturgical celebrations or holy masses

00:16celebrated each hour from 5am till 9 at night. Law enforcement presence has also grown and a

00:23number of locations around the church have been cordoned off for security purposes.

00:29Our Bien Vini Manalo took his team to Ground Zero of the Black Nazarene

00:34Feast Day and he filed this report.

00:38From Naia, MJ goes straight to Quiapo Church to attend Mass.

00:42She is from America and has been working there for more than 20 years.

00:46She has been a devotee of Jesus Nazareno for more than two decades,

00:50so whenever she returns home from the America, her first destination

00:54is Quiapo Church to give thanks for all the graces she has received.

00:58We are thankful that we were able to arrive safely.

01:02Everything that I asked of Him, He gave.

01:08The sisters, Sol and Minda, are from Plari del Bulacan.

01:12They have been devotees to Jesus Nazareno for six decades.

01:15They also used to attend Mass to express gratitude for all the blessings they have received.

01:20They pray for peace for all and the good health of their families.

01:24May there be peace in our world.

01:27I pray that they will be strengthened by the love of Jesus Nazareno.

01:35Two days before the Feast of Jesus Nazareno, the devotees keep coming to the Minor Basilica

01:40and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo in Manila.

01:44They don't care about the heat and humidity outside

01:46as long as they could enter the church and listen to the Holy Mass.

01:50Many of them even came from provinces with their prayers.

01:53An hourly Mass or liturgical celebration is up at the Quiapo Church

01:57starting from 5 in the morning to 9 at night.

02:00Based on Manila Police District records, more than a thousand devotees went to Quiapo Church today.

02:05Meanwhile, the MPD is all set to go for the upcoming festival.

02:09The security around the church is also enforced strictly.

02:12There are also barricades around the church.

02:14The authorities have not recorded any untoward incidents thus far.

02:18More than 14,000 police and augmented security personnel

02:21will be deployed on the day of the traslacion.

02:24This includes forces from Police Regional Offices 3 and 4A,

02:27Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, MMDA, and Manila LGU.

02:33The gun ban goes into effect tomorrow, January 8 to January 11.

02:38Also, the liquor ban will start tomorrow at 9 in the evening until January 10.

02:43Last year, approximately 6 million devotees joined the traslacion

02:46and the number of visitors this year is expected to be higher.

02:50Meanwhile, the vendors around the church have also come alive.

03:01The police is expecting a huge inflow of devotees on the day of the traslacion,

03:05so they are strictly reminding the devotees to eat enough and not to join the traslacion

03:10all liquored up and on an empty stomach or under the influence of alcohol.
