00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05For many, it's a wet day, rain or showers, and a rain warning in force across the north-east of Scotland.
00:11This weather front here, which was towards the south on Tuesday, has moved northwards and stalling,
00:16particularly across central and northern areas of Scotland, extending down also towards Northern Ireland.
00:21A bit of a breeze coming through as well, but it's across this zone here where we could see up to 70mm of rain,
00:28particularly along the Moray coastline.
00:30So, it's a wet start across central and eastern areas of Scotland.
00:34North-west Scotland not doing too badly at all, keen breeze, but the cloud will break at times.
00:38Showery bursts of rain then extend across the central belt, southern Scotland towards Northern Ireland,
00:44although even so, it is fairly sporadic across Scotland.
00:47And for England and Wales, a fair amount of clouds, some holes in the clouds allowing for some brighter skies.
00:52At the same time, one or two showers just drifting across the sky.
00:55It's a rather muggy start to the day across England and Wales, and much drier than it was this time yesterday.
01:02But certainly for Scotland and Northern Ireland, it's wet.
01:05So, through the morning, we watch as this rain continues to fall,
01:09particularly across central, eastern and northern parts of Scotland.
01:12Showery bursts of rain further south, and we continue with that wet weather across Northern Ireland
01:18with quite a breeze coming down from the north.
01:20Now, for West Wales, you can see more clouds from time to time, the odd spot or two of rain and drizzle.
01:24But elsewhere across England and Wales, you'll see some brighter skies,
01:28and with that, one or two showers developing, which could turn heavy across the Far East there.
01:33In any brighter skies, we'll see temperatures up to around 22, 23 degrees Celsius,
01:37but still 14, 15, 16, where that rain persists.
01:41So, low pressure in charge through Wednesday evening and overnight.
01:44Yet again, it's very soggy across central and northern areas of Scotland.
01:49And showery bursts of rain continue through Wednesday evening across Northern Ireland,
01:54as well as Northern England and West Wales, seeing that cloud and patchy rain.
01:58Elsewhere, it's quite a pleasant end to the day, particularly for East Anglia,
02:02central and southern England, down towards the West Country.
02:04A cloud should break, allowing for some late sunshine to end the day.
02:09But this rain here will slowly lose its intensity through this evening, overnight and into Thursday.
02:16So, we watch as it slowly drifts down towards central and southern parts of Scotland,
02:21and then the heavier pulses will disappear.
02:24We'll see some patchy rain and drizzle further south across Northern England, the Midlands, Wales.
02:29Northern Ireland getting away with a much better start to the day on Thursday,
02:33even with some brighter skies, and some drier weather also for Western Scotland.
02:37Central and southern parts of England and Wales on Thursday will see some fine weather with some sunshine,
02:42but we hang on to more stubborn clouds across Northern England, Midlands, East Anglia, as well as Wales,
02:47but some brighter weather across the central zone of Scotland to end the day.
02:52So, here's your outlook through Friday.
02:54Generally, there's a lot of cloud.
02:56We'll see some sunshine towards the south, a few showers across more eastern areas,
03:00and that pretty much sets the scene into the weekend.
03:02I'll see you later.
