The band of persistent rain continues to move northwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland, bringing heavy rain. Heavy thundery showers follow behind moving across England and Wales. 00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office. We have
00:04weather warnings in force through the next 24 hours. Through Tuesday evening, a thunderstorm
00:09warning Wales, the Midlands, North West England, slow moving thunderstorms gradually drifting
00:13their way northwards. At the same time, this weather front here will stall across the north-east
00:17of Scotland, extending down towards Northern Ireland, but the highest rainfall totals are
00:21likely to be across the north-east of Scotland, where we could see up to 70mm in places, particularly
00:27across the Moray coastline. And the winds will pick up from time to time as well, this
00:31centre of the low really slow moving as we head into Wednesday. So we can see where these
00:37thunderstorms are, they're rumbling on and moving northwards. Some tricky driving conditions
00:40if you are out and about, you may encounter heavy downpour. At the same time, this band
00:45of rain here from Northern Ireland, central and southern parts of Scotland will push towards
00:50the far north of Scotland through the early hours of Wednesday morning. We lose a lot
00:54of the showers across England and Wales. It's a muggy night here, still a lot of clouds
00:58and a few showering outbreaks can't be ruled out. But Northern Ireland will have a wet
01:03end to the night, quite a breeze coming through, but drier across the far north-west of Scotland
01:08as that rain slowly moves in across Caithness as well as Orkney. So behind this front, you
01:14can see it's turning rather showery and these showers could actually turn heavy as we head
01:18through the first part of Wednesday. At the same time, a few showers across England and
01:23Wales, just drifting across the sky. But notice the cloud will try and break here as
01:27we head through the day. And in fact, it'll feel quite warm if you catch any brighter
01:30breaks through the morning into the afternoon. The rain will be fairly persistent across
01:35Northern Ireland, clipping the Isle of Man and always a lot of clouds across West Wales
01:39with some patchy rain and drizzle. At the same time, look at this rain towards the north
01:43and northeast of Scotland. It's relentless, it's persistent and those rainfall totals
01:48will only slowly rise as we head through the day and into evening time with a biting
01:53wind coming down from the north. Temperatures struggling here, 14 or 15, but we could squeeze
01:57a 22, 23 for the south and east. So that's the picture on Wednesday afternoon. Through
02:03Wednesday evening, it remains showery across northern England, sporadic as well as Wales
02:08and Northern Ireland. And then towards the north, this rain continues, but gradually
02:13it will drift its way southwards through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning
02:18and will lose the intensity of the rain as well. So notice it does turn dry across the
02:22far north of Scotland into the early hours of Thursday. But this chunk of the country
02:27here will be cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle through the day. Some brighter skies further
02:32south with some sunshine temperatures here, 21 to 23 Celsius and temperatures will be
02:38slightly higher across Scotland as we head through into the afternoon. Wherever you are,
