Scattered showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland dying out through the evening leaving largely clear skies, especially to the west. Elsewhere across much of England, it remains cloudy with a persistent band of rain moving in from the South overnight and into Sunday. Generally clearer to the north of Scotland and the west, with a few scattered showers. The band of rain will continue to move northwards across the east of Scotland through late morning.– This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 27/04/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Marco Petagna.

00:00 Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitagna. Things
00:04 are turning unsettled once again, certainly towards the south and east of the UK as we
00:07 head through the evening and during the overnight period. Outbreaks of rain working their way
00:10 in from the south, some of that rain turning quite heavy, particularly during the early
00:13 hours of Sunday there. And out towards the west and north of the UK, it's generally a
00:18 clearer picture with a scattering of showers in places. And under those clearer slots,
00:22 we could see a pretty chilly night unfolding, temperatures locally below freezing in one
00:26 or two places, so a touch of frost here by Sunday morning. Whereas with the cloud, the
00:30 rain and a pretty brisk northerly breeze developing too, those temperatures do hold up across
00:34 the south and south-east, lows of around about 4 to 8 Celsius here. As for Sunday, well,
00:40 it's a pretty wet day here in the offing towards the east and south-east of the UK. For a time,
00:44 we could see some brighter skies across the far south-east, setting off a few heavy, potentially
00:48 thundery showers. But on the whole, a generally wet picture and that rain working its way
00:52 north as we go through the day, reaching the east of Scotland into the afternoon. Whereas
00:56 out towards the west and later across many southern spots, it will turn brighter with
01:00 a scattering of showers. Again, one or two of those showers could be fairly heavy in
01:03 nature as well. So all in all, a pretty changeable, if not unsettled day, and temperatures struggling
01:08 still for the time of year. Highest towards the north-west there of 12 degrees, up to
01:12 13 or 14 towards the south and south-east, where we've got the wind and the rain towards
01:16 the north-east, no better than 8 or 9 degrees, so a pretty chilly day here. As we go through
01:21 the evening into the overnight period, those outbreaks of rain will gradually push away
01:25 to the north-east, affecting the northern hours throughout the night on Sunday night.
01:29 Clearer for a time elsewhere and it will turn chilly under those clear spots, with showers
01:32 then working their way in from the west, across many western and some northern areas into
01:36 the early hours of Monday. As I say, it will turn quite chilly by Monday morning, and we
01:40 could see a touch of frost in one or two spots, with towns and city temperatures generally
01:43 holding a little above freezing. As for Monday, well an east-west split developing in the
01:48 weather once again, but this time it will be the east and south-east of the UK, generally
01:52 seeing the best of any bright or sunny spells. Whereas out towards the west it's a very showy
01:56 picture, some of the showers merging at times to give some longer spells of rain, some of
02:00 that rain turning quite heavy too. But temperatures, notice, are a bit higher than they've been
02:04 of late, peaking at 12 to 14 Celsius towards the north, up to 15 or 16 degrees towards
02:09 the south-east. 16 there in the south-east is a 61 in Fahrenheit. That's pretty much
02:14 it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast by following us
02:17 on social media. I'll see you soon, take care for now, bye bye.
