00:00I'm looking for big bucks. I won't be working, you will be working.
00:05Lord Sugar's on the hunt for a brand new business partner.
00:11The whole point of this is to prove that we can start a business with £250,000.
00:15This is not about chance in your arm. I want a business model, a business plan. I want someone who's going to go for it.
00:22Ready to fight for his funding, 20 aspiring entrepreneurs.
00:27This place is full of sharks. You've got a noose here around your neck. I am the judge, jury and executioner.
00:35On the table, a quarter million pound investment and a 50-50 partnership with Britain's toughest backer.
00:44Let's get rid of the dead. No hopers, no chance, don't waste my time.
00:49Shalom, how are you doing?
00:51It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:53I am absolutely livid.
00:55Both, both, stop.
00:57Just a quick one, the toilet isn't in the best condition right now.
01:0020 candidates.
01:02Dan's shirking me, James is shirking me, you're shirking me, you're shirking me, what do you want me to do?
01:0612 tough weeks.
01:07Oh, sorry.
01:09All we have is whinging and whining.
01:11One life-changing opportunity.
01:14You're fired, you're fired.
01:16It's too little, too late.
01:18You're fired.
01:23You're fired.
01:30Previously on The Apprentice...
01:33I want you to launch a new soft drink in America with a TV advert.
01:40I'm buzzing, we're in the Big Apple. What an amazing place.
01:43For First Lady Bianca...
01:45Big dog.
01:46Big dog.
01:47A beverage with bite.
01:49Big dog, I wouldn't have chosen this.
01:51But Roshian and Sanjay...
01:53It brings the big dog out of me.
01:55Strained at the leash.
01:57That's the most boring advert I've ever seen.
01:59It needs to be bold, exciting, but a by-product is it's very healthy.
02:03Mark's team plumped for a health drink.
02:06Made a strong brand, got a good logo.
02:08This won't let you down.
02:10Thanks, Mum.
02:11But their concept got watered down.
02:15Yellow on yellow on yellow doesn't work on yellow.
02:18Big dog had its day.
02:20This brand is American. Summit, you've won.
02:23Big dog, you like it.
02:25You can't help yourself, can you?
02:27Mark and Daniel clashed.
02:29If I had a pound for every time you spoke rubbish,
02:31I'd have the 250 grand and I'd be at home.
02:34How long have you been sitting on that for?
02:36But it was Lauren left carrying the can.
02:38None of it was me.
02:39None of it was you, that's why you're sat here.
02:41She became the 11th casualty of the boardroom.
02:44I don't think you're for me.
02:46I don't think you're for my business partner.
02:49You're fired.
02:53Now, nine remain to fight for the chance to become
02:56Lord Sugar's business partner.
03:155.30am.
03:17Hello?
03:18Lord Sugar would like you to meet him at Chiswick House.
03:21Please pack an overnight bag.
03:23The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
03:26Chiswick House?
03:2820 minutes.
03:29Take an overnight bag.
03:30Morning, the killers.
03:35I think I should go back to Summit.
03:37We don't want you anymore, mate. You're gone.
03:39You're a bad look.
03:41We'll see.
03:49The old power's gone.
03:51The girls that I left are still strong.
03:53There's six strong boys.
03:55One, I think.
03:59Chiswick House and Gardens.
04:03A slice of the countryside in the heart of the city.
04:18MUSIC PLAYS
04:36Good morning.
04:37Good morning, Lord Sugar.
04:39Years ago, this was all open countryside
04:42until it was swallowed up by London.
04:45The rural market in our country
04:47runs to over £200 billion per year.
04:51And that's the market that you're going to tap into
04:54on this next task.
04:56So I'm sending you west to Somerset,
04:59to the Royal Bath and West Show.
05:02You're going to be selling products.
05:04One of those products will be a proven seller
05:07at the show already.
05:09But I also want you to find two products
05:12that have never been sold there before
05:14and introduce them to the market.
05:16And it's very simple.
05:18The team that comes in with the highest amount of sales wins.
05:22And in the losing team, one of you will be fired.
05:26I'm looking for everybody to sell.
05:29So I will be monitoring each individual sales.
05:33Off you go.
05:36Tomorrow, both teams will sell at the Royal Bath and West Show.
05:42Today, they must select their stock.
05:45But first, pick leaders.
05:49This is clearly a sales task.
05:51It's about good negotiation.
05:53With that in mind, you've got to choose me.
05:55I am more logistics, tactics, organisation.
05:58And I think that's where I am perfect to lead you guys.
06:01In order to save time and move on,
06:03I actually think Felipe would organise this pretty well.
06:05Felipe, well done, sir.
06:07You've got my back in, mate. Thank you.
06:09For the other team...
06:10I fancy this. I've grown up selling.
06:12It's what I've done all my life.
06:14..pitching for the top job, James.
06:17I've got a good feeling inside that I can...
06:19You know, this will be a good task for me.
06:21Do you think, though, given you're quite a good salesman,
06:23that maybe you shouldn't BPM because you should be focused on the sales?
06:26I think I can do both.
06:27I've got some good salespeople, I've got some good brains.
06:29I think together we can really wrap this up.
06:31I'm not going to mess about. I'm here for one reason.
06:34That's to show Lord Sugar what I can do.
06:36Yeah, I think your background suits this.
06:38I'll be able to back James 100%.
06:40I am who I am and I always put my balls on the line.
06:42If I believe in something, I'll go for it
06:44and hopefully I'll show today that I can pull through another win.
06:48Project managers in place.
06:50Time to hit the road.
06:53For half...
06:54I've got a new combined harvester.
06:58..destination Somerset.
07:03I hope they understand me, actually.
07:07Oh, wow.
07:08For the rest...
07:09Oh, I like that.
07:11..a chance to check out and choose what products to debut tomorrow.
07:15This is amazing. I will buy this for my garden.
07:19Wow.
07:20OK.
07:21Oh, so it's remote control, so you put it in the gutter.
07:26It's quite a high price point when you could probably get someone
07:29to go up and clean your gutter.
07:30Someone would pay someone to do it for not that much.
07:32So it's for kids, right? Yeah.
07:34Yeah, I used to love being on the back of my dad's bike when I was a kid.
07:37I guess in the countryside it would be OK.
07:39I don't fit on it. Pet tracking device.
07:41This could be cool if you're in the countryside
07:43and you're pheasant shooting.
07:45The boots are good. Foldable wellies.
07:48I can see a market for these ones.
07:50So I think if you're wading through mud or you're fishing or at a festival,
07:53you might want something more sturdy.
07:55Vintage tweed flat cap handbag. It's quirky.
07:58Yeah, it's quirky. It's very English as well.
08:00That's how you imagine all English people dress.
08:05Self-flushing cat box.
08:07I think the self-flushing cat box is like a no.
08:11Nice to meet you, Solomon. Nice to meet you.
08:13Next, pump the reps for information.
08:16I've been looking. This is one of our favourite products here today.
08:19What, the pet dog or...? No, it's a pet dog.
08:22Priority for Solomon, Bianca and Sanjay.
08:25Push hard on price.
08:28Obviously we've got a retail price of £65.
08:30Is there any flexibility at all?
08:32I would be prepared to drop it as low as £45.
08:37We are happy for you to take it down to £250.
08:39It's a one-off, especially for you guys.
08:41That is such good. It's a great deal.
08:43Hi, I'm Rebecca. Nice to meet you.
08:45Opting for a softly, softly style.
08:48This is just something that you've never seen before.
08:51We absolutely love that it's so quirky.
08:53Felipe.
08:54And I know my wife will use this.
08:56It's so attractive.
08:58The more I look at it, I just know that we could sell it in tons.
09:01We absolutely love it.
09:03And Mark.
09:04You know, maybe if I bought one for a girl,
09:06I might not be standing here a single man.
09:09The key to business is getting on with your supplies
09:12and securing that relationship before you start to negotiate.
09:15Thank you very much. Thank you so much.
09:17Let me take you.
09:18Make them appreciate you and want you to sell their product.
09:21I can sell the flat cap handbag easily.
09:25I like it. It's so different.
09:28PHONE RINGS
09:30Hi, Felipe.
09:32Hi, guys. So, we have some flat cap handbags.
09:36Caps.
09:38Caps, no, they're not handbags.
09:40They come at £60.
09:42Is there any negotiation on that, boys?
09:46We never asked them whether we could sell them at a lower price
09:50as a one-off.
09:53Felipe, I think, really,
09:55when we have these meetings about these products,
09:57what we want is options.
09:59We want to know if we can do offers.
10:01If it gets towards the end of the day and we need a bit of a push,
10:04can we do that?
10:06OK, that's a very good point.
10:08All right, good luck. Bye.
10:10See you, guys.
10:11That could be an oversight, that.
10:14SIGHS
10:16No good salesperson goes into a sales situation
10:20without room for manoeuvre.
10:22If we were to take the product to the fair tomorrow,
10:25it is possible to lower the price.
10:27We know that it sells very well at £300,
10:29but as a one-off for you, we're happy for you to take the price down to £250.
10:33OK. Understood.
10:34How many would you expect to sell in a day?
10:37Maybe 25 to 40 units.
10:39Wow, that's fantastic.
10:41Products perused.
10:44Decision time.
10:46Petfinder, that's our top product.
10:48So it's got a device that attaches to the collar
10:50and then the closer you get, the things light up.
10:54Is there anything else?
10:55OK, so the bike trailer is an attachment that you put onto your bike
10:59to allow your child to sit behind you.
11:01I know what you mean, yeah.
11:04I'm going to take this.
11:05We will take the flat cap handbag.
11:07It's something that you can wave in people's faces and say,
11:10look, how cool is this?
11:12And the bicycle for the kids.
11:15Currently our top two would be the bicycle trailer and the Petfinder.
11:19I understand and, you know, I'm taking all that into consideration,
11:22but there's people with money there and it's a nice area where we're going, right?
11:26So I want the foldable welly and the hanging chair.
11:31James, it's the opposite of what we've suggested.
11:33Listen, guys, I think I've gone with the right things.
11:37James is an idiot because he's just literally mucked it up for us.
11:40We've spent ages getting the information, getting the discounts,
11:42you know, getting really key facts that we needed.
11:45Good, guys, keep working. Well done.
11:47But...
11:49..to me, that's really bad.
11:56Down in Somerset...
11:58Tripod!
11:59..England's premier rural event.
12:02Oh!
12:13Baa!
12:15Attended by hundreds of thousands each year...
12:18Everyone's got their wellies on, haven't they?
12:20Look, loads of wellies everywhere.
12:22..both teams must pick an established product to push tomorrow.
12:26We've got to make sure that we negotiate well.
12:29We negotiate well, we get a good product, we sell the product, we win the task.
12:32It is literally that simple.
12:34Baa!
12:35..first for Roisin and James...
12:37Here, lawnmowers, here, look.
12:39..rolling in at up to £4,000...
12:42..sit on lawnmowers.
12:44I've been doing this for 22 years.
12:46This is a family business and people buy from us at the show each year,
12:50so, yeah, it's well-established.
12:52We've sold three or four tractors every day so far this week
12:55and Saturday is the biggest retail day.
12:58This is very inviting, you've got a lot to offer.
13:00You know, I think out of everybody here, you know,
13:02you're like the cream of the crop. Thank you very much.
13:04Thank you for your time. See you again.
13:06Look at the figures, four a day.
13:08I really think that there's a potential there.
13:10I liked that a lot.
13:14Focus for Daniel.
13:15We really come here with a passion to sell barbecues.
13:19Selling himself.
13:20We would like to concentrate on making sure
13:22that the brand is put across properly.
13:26We've got salesmen in the team that are more than capable of,
13:30you know, making sure that your brand is heard
13:32with a real passion behind it.
13:34Passion is our key word.
13:36Your brand looks like it's passion from you really believing it.
13:41We're infected by it. We feel the passion.
13:43And obviously it's important to make sure that we sell at a high volume.
13:47We will make sure that we excel your target.
13:49We don't want to get three, four done.
13:51We can get five, six, seven done.
13:53Daniel is trying to be enthusiastic
13:55but he's coming across as very pushy.
13:59We are salespeople and we don't stop.
14:02Passion is our key word.
14:04He's gone in with his sharp suit and he's saying,
14:06discount, we'll sell, we'll be in your face.
14:08People don't want to hear that here.
14:10We're a family business that's been running for 32 years
14:13and that's what you're selling.
14:14You're not selling the biggest discount that you can sell.
14:16Yeah, absolutely.
14:17And that's not how we operate.
14:18It's not a hard-selling show.
14:20This is local agriculture.
14:22Yeah, yeah.
14:23It's slowly, slowly, they'll get there.
14:25Yeah.
14:27Thank you very much.
14:28Thank you. Bye.
14:29Bye-bye.
14:30Right, so, third appointment.
14:32It needs to be good.
14:33I think the mistake made in the last one,
14:35that it was too intense and it was a bit too in his face.
14:38I think what he didn't want is a hard sell.
14:40That's what I thought, yeah.
14:41And he wants somebody who's passionate about his product
14:44and wants to get to know what it's about in a softer way.
14:48So I think we just need to keep that in mind
14:50as we go into this next one, OK?
14:52Yeah, I agree.
14:53Let's go and have a chat with the guy.
14:55Last chance to make a splash.
14:57What kind of salesman are you looking for?
14:59High-end hot tubs.
15:01We want somebody to have a bit of fun,
15:03interact with the clients. Yeah.
15:05You know, explain how it all works.
15:07If you're looking for people with great personality
15:10that can really grasp what your product's all about
15:12and relay that to the customer, then me and Daniel are the ones.
15:15Yes. We're not going to let you down in any way, shape or form
15:18of making sure people leave with a smile.
15:20Thank you very much for your time, Anthony.
15:22No, thank you. Thank you.
15:24My personal favourite is hot tubs.
15:26We sold five of those.
15:2820 grand.
15:30I hope you've got your bikini, eh?
15:33Hi, nice to meet you. What's your name?
15:35Anthony. Anthony, nice to meet you, Anthony.
15:37We've sold seven hot tubs so far.
15:39Average price point, about £4,000.
15:41Hopefully, with the right people, we can close those sales.
15:44I hope you like the product. Derek, I do.
15:48Thank you so much. Derek, thank you.
15:50Hi, seals the deal.
15:52Hiya.
15:53Hot tubs are quite nice, they're round.
15:55Contemporary.
15:56With all the fancy bits on them.
15:58This guy's sold seven since he's been here, about £4,000 apiece.
16:01OK, yeah.
16:02Do you know what, guys? I can sit here all day and think about this, right?
16:05I'm going to go with hot tubs.
16:06Yeah, go with the hot tub, James, I think I back you on that.
16:09Fuck it, hot tubs.
16:11With both teams pinning their hopes on hot tubs...
16:14Come on, Anthony, come on, Anthony, come on, Anthony.
16:16..the vendor will decide.
16:19Oh, that really makes my heart descend.
16:22Hi, it's James, you all right?
16:24Hi, James, not too bad, how are you?
16:26I'm so nervous, I just wouldn't have had the chance to be able to sell them.
16:29So, is it a goer?
16:31Well, I've carefully considered both teams, but I have made a decision.
16:34Oh, my word, yeah.
16:35And I think yourself and Katie came across very well.
16:39I really like the passion.
16:41Well, I've carefully considered both optics and all the negatives.
16:45I think Katie, she's been very intelligent,
16:47and I think she'll be able to knuckle down with the product knowledge.
16:50So, yeah, I'd like you guys to represent us tomorrow.
16:54I have to say, that's really good news.
16:57Oh, right.
16:58I am sorry about that.
17:00One small negative, which I would obviously like to let you know,
17:03is you didn't actually call me Derek when my name is Anthony.
17:07And I just thought on the detail side,
17:10you might try and wing it a little bit tomorrow.
17:15Killer blow.
17:16Getting his name wrong.
17:18Well, at the end of the day, sod him, if that's what...
17:20If that's what's going to really match him about a name,
17:22then I don't want to work for him, anyway.
17:24Plan B, Lomo's, yeah? Yeah, definitely.
17:26Fair enough.
17:32I'm so happy!
17:39OK, let's call the others.
17:41I'm thinking, to be fair, I want to keep them in good spirits, you know?
17:45So, does it really matter what's happened?
17:47Do they really need to know?
17:49I can't lie to them. I'm not lying to them.
17:51No, but if somebody asks me, I can't...
17:53I'm going to tell them tomorrow, but I want to keep my team in good spirits.
17:56I want them to back me as a PM, back me as a leader,
17:59and think James has made that decision for a reason.
18:02So...
18:03You can say whatever you want to say.
18:05My advice would be to tell the truth.
18:07Yeah, it might be your advice, but what do I want to do?
18:10Today, it's important what I want to do, innit?
18:14PHONE RINGS
18:16Hello? Hi, guys, you all right?
18:18Good, thanks. How are you doing?
18:20Good, good. Just a quick one. I've changed my mind last minute.
18:23I made a business decision...
18:26..to go with the lawnmowers.
18:29I think the guy's been established for a long time.
18:31I think we'll go with that one, yeah?
18:33So, let's have a good day tomorrow, yeah?
18:35You're going with the lawnmowers?
18:37Yeah, I'm going for the lawnmowers, yeah.
18:39I'll see you later, all right?
18:41All right, bye.
18:43James strikes again.
18:45He was desperate to get off that phone.
18:47He was like, we'll talk about it tomorrow, and just, like, went.
19:07I'm really looking forward to today.
19:09I'm so happy that we got the hot tubs. Yeah.
19:11And I think it's important that me and you go to the hot tubs
19:14because we won that deal based on me and you as salespeople.
19:19It's a chance for me to sell in big numbers at a high price,
19:23and I think that's what I do best, to be honest.
19:28I'd be far better at selling the hot tub than Daniel.
19:33I can see Daniel asking, why you and not him?
19:36I'm not here for me, I'm not here for Mark Wright today,
19:39I'm here for the team, but I know I'm our best salesperson.
19:42I need to think carefully about that
19:44because this is where the game will be won or lost.
19:52With one hour till the teams start selling...
19:56..setting out his stall...
19:58Have we got anything we can shove in those?
20:00Yeah, we can shove tissue paper in them.
20:02..and his sales targets...
20:04I'd like to see if we can sell a chair each,
20:06and I'd like you to try and sell ten pairs each of Wellies.
20:09..James...
20:10If you can sell ten pairs each, that's the price of a lawnmower.
20:13..across the site...
20:14I want to make it very clear that this is a team effort, OK?
20:17..first job for Felipe...
20:19..manage his manpower...
20:21I think that the best people to go to the hot tubs...
20:25..Katie and Mark...
20:28..I would like you two to start in the morning with the hot tubs.
20:31Makes no sense whatsoever. Why not?
20:33What's the difference between me and Mark going there?
20:35The difference is I understand the product more, I spoke to him,
20:38I know that.
20:39We're swapping because he spoke...
20:41No, no, no.
20:42So then why are you going and I'm not now?
20:44Because Mark this morning pointed out that it would be nice
20:47to have somebody like Kate, like a boy and a girl team together.
20:50So why don't I go with Katie?
20:52We learned that. Next day, Mark's turning up
20:54because of no apparent logical reason.
20:56Well, it's a logical reason, isn't it?
20:58I still haven't heard that.
21:01End of the day, I've took lawnmowers
21:03because I think this guy's been established for eight years,
21:05he's been here a long time.
21:06I just think there's a sudden change of decision.
21:08The lawnmower's been chosen now, so we don't need to talk about it.
21:11Why didn't we go with the hot tub? Doesn't matter now.
21:13Let's concentrate on what you've got to sell today.
21:15Get it out of your head now, yeah? Deal's done, it's done right.
21:17You've got a target to go for, positive, loads of energy.
21:20Let's go for it, yeah?
21:22How can you expect a salesman to be happy selling lower-end products
21:26when I've got a chance to make some serious money for my team?
21:29Everybody has a serious charge.
21:31I'll be straight with you, it's a complete poor decision.
21:33There's no logic behind it.
21:35No, no, no, Mark's told you what he wanted to do and you've listened.
21:38That's what's happened.
21:39At the end of the day...
21:40He's the project manager here, not you.
21:42Listen, you've got to be a team player. I want to go to the spas with Katie.
21:45I know you want to go, but I cannot stay with this guy.
21:47Leave him out of the task. We need to win this and we are the best.
21:50You've got into his head and I congratulate you for that.
21:54I was a bit sneaky about how I crafted my way into the hot tubs.
21:58Yes, Daniel secured the deal.
22:00However, I was not going to leave it in his hands
22:03to go and chant whether he can sell or not.
22:05We haven't seen it so far.
22:07You don't leave your prize pony in the stable at the end of the day.
22:10Nobody has gone to my head, OK?
22:12Boys, boys, stop it. I'm an individual. Stop.
22:14Fine, I'll go with the flow, I'll do what you want.
22:17You're such a top seller on spas.
22:19Pressure's on, make sure you get the sales.
22:21All I know is I would have.
22:2810am, showtime.
22:34What's the best-looking one?
22:35What would you buy for your girlfriend?
22:37A hot tub.
22:40I specifically come here to look for a spa or a jacuzzi, to be honest.
22:43You've come to the right place.
22:46Can I interest you in a wonderful piece of furniture here by any chance?
22:49No.
22:50Five-year warranty, five-year warranty.
22:54No.
22:55I don't have that.
22:56Yeah, you don't hold it.
22:59Oh, dear. You must have a credit card somewhere.
23:04Pushing James's foldable wellies and designer chair,
23:08Bianca, Solomon and Sanjay.
23:11No worries, thank you.
23:13We're very good salesmen, but we don't want a chair.
23:15Just come and try them on.
23:17It's the price, considering I've already got quite a few pairs at home.
23:20You look a bit bemused.
23:22By me or just by the Wellingtons?
23:24By the soul of the...
23:26By the soul of the...
23:27For a farmer, that seems a bit thin.
23:31The product is not right.
23:32If we had the bicycle trailers, all the families would love that.
23:35The pet device tracker.
23:36There's dogs everywhere.
23:37I've stretched about ten dogs.
23:38The two things we're not missing here is families and dogs.
23:40Dog there, dog there.
23:42Push chair, push chair, push chair.
23:44Hi, James.
23:45How are you getting on?
23:46Not well.
23:47Christ.
23:48We're getting people in.
23:49The product, we're just not selling.
23:50And it's a real shame because we've had so many families
23:52and with pets and things, which the other two would have been good for.
23:55I don't want to wear that.
23:56I don't want to wear out your mouth about other products, right?
23:58Go for what you've got.
23:59Do your best.
24:00Sell hard.
24:01Make some results.
24:02Make some money.
24:03We've only sold one pair of Wellington boots so far.
24:05Struggling with price, James, honestly.
24:07Yeah, OK, well, listen, your flexibility is £10.
24:09So go in at 55.
24:10If it's a deal breaker, you can look at 40, 45 quid.
24:14All this negativity and the past, it's not going to help us, is it, going forward?
24:17You're being quite negative.
24:19No, I'm not being negative at all, Roisin.
24:21Let's end the story now.
24:22Let's crack on.
24:23OK, I'll just shut my mouth.
24:24Stop trying to undermine me and stuff all the time, all right?
24:26I'm not. I'm just trying to undermine you.
24:28You are patronising me.
24:29Oh, my goodness. I'm not.
24:30I know I'm doing all right, OK?
24:32OK.
24:33So let's crack on.
24:37Have to get the first one done.
24:39Give us more confidence and then we'll be flying.
24:42For Katie and Mark, the hard sell...
24:45£3,995.
24:47Gets you delivery and installation, which is usually £300.
24:51Of high-end hot tubs.
24:53Lighting upgrade, inside and out.
24:55Cedar wood steps to match the outside.
24:57And the chemical starter kit.
24:59You're doing a fairly good price on that.
25:01Yeah.
25:02Well, obviously, I want to squeeze you for a bit more.
25:04OK.
25:05£3,500.
25:06Done.
25:07With just a £500 deposit today.
25:12Thank you very much, girls.
25:14Deal done.
25:16I got one.
25:17Well done. I'm going to hug you.
25:20But facing finance checks for all show products,
25:24sales figures won't be revealed till the boardroom.
25:30There you go.
25:31Pedalling the bike trailer.
25:33If you want to go shopping, you move this forward
25:35and then you put your basket in there so you can put all your groceries.
25:38It's nice, but I'm not sure we'll get enough use out of it, you know?
25:41Take care. Bye-bye.
25:43And handmade handbags.
25:45It's actually very functional as well.
25:47Would you like to buy one?
25:49Felipe and Daniel.
25:51Is it something that I can interest you in today?
25:53Probably not.
25:54Probably not.
25:55They are completely unique, limited edition.
25:57They are made by recycled caps.
25:59I haven't got any money on me at the moment
26:01until I go to the bank, which will be tomorrow.
26:05Would you like to see them?
26:07I haven't seen them.
26:08You haven't, cos they're not caps.
26:10Where did you see them?
26:11There.
26:12Oh, really?
26:13Would you like to buy one?
26:15You have the opportunity now to buy them.
26:17Felipe.
26:18Felipe, don't jump all over it, mate.
26:20I've got to have a conversation with someone.
26:22OK, she was closer to me, Daniel.
26:24I'm not trying to jump to you.
26:25It's so boring, mate.
26:27If you were casually walking past Felipe and Daniel's store,
26:30you'd see them bickering, fighting.
26:32I mean, these products are hard enough to sell as it is
26:34without them putting on that kind of display for the public.
26:37He's jumped in my grave.
26:38She's not jumping on your grave.
26:39I secured that hot tub deal.
26:40He's got into your brain and he's doing it.
26:42Felipe is weak.
26:43If I was with him all day yesterday, I'd be selling the hot tubs.
26:46Mark was with him all day yesterday, he's selling the hot tubs.
26:49It was whoever got on his brain first, simple as that.
26:51Stop bringing me down, mate.
26:53Bring you down?
26:54I don't want to talk about it any more.
27:01Lunchtime.
27:03The country show is in full swing.
27:06Pack them up, put them in the bag.
27:08£45 right now, shake your hand, sir.
27:10OK, we'll go for it.
27:11Pleasure doing business.
27:12What do you think?
27:13I think they look great on you.
27:14Go on, I'll have a sale.
27:15OK, fantastic.
27:17So that'll be £44.
27:19Struggling to seal the deal...
27:21It's a lovely expensive welly, isn't it?
27:23..Sanjay.
27:24I think you're a very good salesman,
27:26but maybe not good enough today.
27:28£44.
27:29£44.
27:30OK, good man.
27:31Let me just get a receipt written up for you.
27:33They look fabulous on you.
27:34I could go down to £45 for you.
27:36No, honest.
27:37And there is your wonderful wellies.
27:40It's a difficult crowd, I think.
27:42This is a sales task, individual sales are key.
27:45I've sold less than Bianca and Solomon.
27:48I've certainly tried just as hard to close the sale.
27:51I hope he's sold a shedload of those lawnmowers.
27:54Interested in having a look at the Acto series?
27:56No problem, thank you very much.
27:58For James and Roisin, still no sales of sit-on mowers.
28:04The engine is the Briggs & Stratton engine,
28:06which is a really popular choice in lawnmowers.
28:09Really robust 13-horsepower engine.
28:12This one?
28:14This one retails at...
28:16Yeah, £18, £18.99.
28:18James and Roisin have very different selling styles.
28:22James, he's struggling with the mowers.
28:24On the back, we've got...
28:26The capacity there is...
28:29Oh, it doesn't tell me, it's not specified on this one.
28:31Today, it's on special, there's £200 off.
28:34It's £1,899.
28:36Is that something you might be interested in today?
28:38It is, actually. Yeah? It is.
28:40It looks as though Roisin's calm, measured, informed
28:44selling style is paying off.
28:47That'd be lovely. Oh, I'm thrilled. Thank you.
28:49Thank you so much. High five. Yeah!
28:52This is one day, and I hope this is a bit of momentum for all of us.
28:55Personally, I feel great,
28:56but James doesn't seem to have dealt with that well.
28:58Every time I'm trying to talk and do something,
29:00you're butting in, you're sticking your nose,
29:02you're making it difficult for me, you undermine me,
29:04you patronise me. No, I don't. Stop it, please, OK?
29:07No matter what I say, he jumps down my throat.
29:09It's word or line unacceptable.
29:11Conversation finished. I want to keep working.
29:13Keep working hard. Well done.
29:18This is our top seller, and more people walk up to this
29:21and stand here than any other of our products.
29:24For Mark and Katie...
29:26It's not too expensive.
29:28Yeah, I'm interested in that, yeah.
29:31..more hot leads.
29:33This is one of our most popular models.
29:35Today we can do it for £4,995,
29:38and I'll also put into that deal for you,
29:41free delivery and installation.
29:43If I could, say, get another 5% off that figure,
29:46could you give me a yes?
29:48Thank you very, very much.
29:50Thank you very much. Thank you for your business.
29:53Hi, Felipe!
29:54How are you doing, guys?
29:56OK, Katie's done one, she did a very good job on that.
29:59Yes. I did two.
30:01Mark, one thing that we could do is move Daniel there.
30:04No, so I've still got one appointment to come back myself
30:07and Katie's got three.
30:08It doesn't matter who deals with Katie's appointments,
30:10as long as someone there with passion is dealing with it.
30:13Daniel, my appointments are coming back to see me.
30:16I can say, I've got people coming back for these bicycles and caps.
30:20You can deal with my comebacks, what's the difference?
30:23Daniel, the same...
30:24Just hang up on him.
30:25It's a team effort, I keep hearing here,
30:27but I keep hearing a team effort,
30:29but an excuse for when I want to come over and sell.
30:32It's gone.
30:33It's just pathetic, mate.
30:35I've been absolutely royally stitched up.
30:37It's not pathetic.
30:38How can you not see I've been working...
30:40Lord Sugar left us like this.
30:41I don't know where your lack of ambition has come.
30:43He said these words.
30:44He said he's individual sales.
30:46I want to go over there and sell.
30:47How can you not see that?
30:48Dying, it's killing me.
30:49I can see it.
30:50Look, Daniel, your mark has been in your brain.
30:53Daniel, no.
30:54Do you know why you feel bad?
30:56Because you haven't been able to get into my brain.
30:58And I prefer Mark's techniques of selling like yours.
31:01You are quite arrogant.
31:02Yep.
31:03You go for the kill.
31:04You talk too much, mate.
31:05I don't want to hear it.
31:06You talk.
31:07OK, I don't want to talk to you.
31:08If you are going to treat me like that,
31:09I'm not going to do it.
31:10Pleasure.
31:11I am like three times more successful than you are, Daniel.
31:12Great, great.
31:13You have a business like this little
31:14in comparison to my business.
31:15Oh, great.
31:16I hope that made you feel better.
31:17It makes me feel better.
31:18You're always thinking you're the best person
31:19to do absolutely everything.
31:20How many sold today?
31:21None.
31:22OK, we'll leave it there.
31:23OK.
31:24You always think you're the best for everything, Daniel.
31:27Mid-afternoon for both teams.
31:30So this is a new product launch.
31:32Yes, it's the first time it's been to the show.
31:34First time it's ever been to the show.
31:35That's our line.
31:36Yep.
31:37One final push.
31:38For one day only,
31:39two new products never been seen before.
31:41It's a fantastic bamboo chair.
31:43And also the folding welly on stand A332,
31:47summer products.
31:48It's well worth a look.
31:49I can promise you that.
31:5045.
31:5146.
31:5245.
31:5346.
31:5445.
31:5545.
31:5645, 50.
31:57Meet you halfway again.
31:58Go on, then.
31:59Legend.
32:02You've got your parking lights in your parking lot,
32:04you've got your oil,
32:05you've got your blazer in action.
32:06If you look at the difference in size and quality
32:08and the same price,
32:09you get so much more with this model.
32:10And the tow bar is included.
32:11Absolutely.
32:12Tow bar, your plug,
32:13free tank of fuel,
32:14a five-year warranty,
32:15£1,800.
32:18That water hasn't been coloured at all.
32:19The white actually gives it a fluorescent blue.
32:21That price is just for today
32:23and we'll throw in everything else included.
32:25You've got a leaflet.
32:26Yeah, I do, indeed.
32:28Thank you very much for your time.
32:29I appreciate it.
32:30Thank you.
32:31What happened that I got?
32:32So damn close.
32:35I would do anything I could to discount it anymore.
32:37I really would.
32:38He really, he really, really would.
32:40I really would.
32:41Oh, my God.
32:42Thank you very much.
32:43So, 375.
32:45That's your best price?
32:47That's my absolute best price.
32:48I will take a photograph of this.
32:49I will send it to my wife.
32:50I'm going to pray.
32:51You may have to pray.
32:52You may have to pray.
32:53Right, take a picture.
32:54Do you want me in it?
32:55It would be £1,299 today.
32:58The mulcher is free and the tow bar.
33:01They would usually be about another £170.
33:04You've got one power jet which creates the whirlpool.
33:07You've got the lights that change into seven different colours.
33:10So that's four pairs of wellies, £145.
33:14OK.
33:15Thank you so much.
33:16Thank you so much.
33:17See you.
33:19It's entirely up to me.
33:21Oh, no.
33:22Just kidding.
33:23What do you think, guys?
33:25Yeah?
33:26Yeah.
33:27Thanks so much, team.
33:28Sorry.
33:29Thank you.
33:30It was hard, but you did it.
33:31It's normally £3,995.
33:34I can do it for £2,995.
33:36OK.
33:37So, the retail price, £1,000 off the retail price.
33:41I'm going to give you £1,000 off the show price.
33:43So, that would be, if I was buying one,
33:45I've got a little holiday park.
33:47So, I'm buying seven.
33:49Seven.
33:50Seven.
33:546pm, closing time.
33:57Guys, I think we couldn't have done any more, to be honest.
34:00Tonight, finance checked.
34:04Final figures tallied.
34:08Tomorrow, the boardroom.
34:20You can go through to the boardroom now.
34:51MUSIC PLAYS
34:57Good morning.
34:58Good morning, Mr Ruff.
35:00The secret to this task was knowing what products to choose.
35:04You have a product which you sell for £50,
35:06you sell ten of them, you're going to take 500 quid.
35:09You have a product that sells for £3,000,
35:12blows everything out the water.
35:14Trouble is, those big-ticket items, you might not sell any.
35:19So, the dilemma was, what are you going to pick?
35:22I'm going to start off with Team Tenacity.
35:26Felipe, you ended up as project manager.
35:30That's correct, Lord Sugar.
35:31From then on, you and Mark go and appraise
35:34the debut products for the show.
35:36Which were the two items that you actually preferred?
35:39The handbag, made out of hats,
35:41and the seat for kids to go on the bike.
35:43Katie had to give you some advice on what questions to ask.
35:47And you said, Mum, we're a bit lost here now,
35:49we don't know what to do.
35:50No, no, because they didn't...
35:51Don't know what to do, Mum, can you tell us what to do?
35:53No, Lord Sugar, at the time that we looked at the products,
35:55we were so focused that we'd never ask whether they would go down...
35:58We never or you never? I never did.
36:00Business, it's not just selling, it's actually getting a good price.
36:03Don't you think?
36:04I slightly disagree. I think it's best...
36:06Disagree? Really?
36:07No, I think it's more important to secure the business
36:10with the vendor, then negotiate.
36:12What's the point if you get hold of something which you can't sell?
36:14If Jesus says to you, I want £20,000 for this thing,
36:17you can bang your head up against the wall.
36:19Don't matter how good a salesman you are if you haven't got a price.
36:22OK, so now we've got Daniel and Katie,
36:25who had to go and decide upon which of the high-ticket items you wanted.
36:29Now, Daniel, we were at a place where there's a lot of livestock,
36:34and the feedback I got was that you were a bit like a bull
36:37in the china shop.
36:38Don't you worry, mate, I'll sell a load of these for you.
36:41I think that I did pick up on... I did...
36:44Well, I think it was more that I'd identified it
36:47and had a little chat with you about it.
36:49I think in the first two pitches...
36:51So, Mummy calmed you down a little bit.
36:53When you got into the final one, the hot tubs...
36:56We got it right. You got it just right. Yeah.
36:58Yeah? Good. So now we've got hot tubs.
37:00I send Mark and Katie to sell hot tubs.
37:04Mark and Katie, despite the fact that he got the deal?
37:07I did. Why didn't you let him sell them, then?
37:09I have problems with Daniel's attitude to sell.
37:12He comes quite aggressive. I have sold with him before,
37:15and I prefer the way that Mark sells.
37:17I think it's fair to say that Daniel was not happy.
37:20Oh, he was furious. Absolutely furious, Lord Sugar.
37:23You actually left us, Lord Sugar, to say individual sales matter here.
37:27That was in my head. I'm here at the end of the day to win this process.
37:30I do regret not being a little bit calmer, but it's me.
37:33I am the same both sides.
37:35If I put you in a team of one, you still have an argument.
37:38I'm sorry, Lord Sugar, but I'm learning. I'm definitely learning.
37:41You missed a bit out on your CV that you got kicked out of drama school,
37:44for example, yeah?
37:46You push my bottoms all day, trying to tell me I sell badly,
37:49you're a better salesman than me. I said that?
37:51You did. When I talk to people, I talk rubbish.
37:53Flat-hat handbags at dawn, it sounded like.
37:55I didn't say that. You did, Daniel.
37:57I'm any better than you in any way. I said that.
37:59You told me I talk rubbish all day.
38:01I get really argument about this. Do you know how silly this sounds?
38:03I know. Whose business is bigger than theirs?
38:05That wasn't me. I was disappointed in that.
38:07Whose business is bigger than the lot of you?
38:10OK. How do you get on with the hot tubs?
38:13I think we've done a good job, Lord Sugar.
38:15Subject to the... Subject to the finance.
38:17I think we did the best we could have on the day.
38:19We'll have a look at that when we look at the contracts that came in.
38:23Asking the team whether he was a good team leader or not,
38:26what am I going to hear from them?
38:28I think that they will say that I was a good team leader.
38:30I kept my decisions. I stood by them.
38:32It's a tough one, Lord Sugar. I think the process is getting harder
38:35and there's a point in the process where it stops working.
38:38I'm not going to change being a nice man.
38:40I always have been a nice man.
38:42Please don't change being a nice man.
38:44I will never change. Like me, for example.
38:47OK, Summit.
38:50I understand, James, you became the project manager.
38:53We've got one chance to prove ourselves to be your business partner.
38:56I want to take that opportunity and show you what I'm all about
38:59and I feel like there's other people here that don't get that
39:01and don't want it. I'm hungry for this.
39:03Let's talk about the debut items, first of all.
39:06Who did you send off to look at them?
39:08Sanjay, Solomon and Bianca.
39:10We felt the bicycle trailer and the pet tracker
39:14were the two that we wanted to go with.
39:16So you get back and you report that to the project manager.
39:19Well, no, without our consultation.
39:21James chose the Wellington boots and the outdoor chair.
39:24It wasn't quite like that, Lord Sugar.
39:26It was. Let me explain. You hadn't even seen them.
39:29No, I'd heard. They described them to me.
39:32You send these three people off to go and appraise the items.
39:35They then, after a lot of deliberation, say these are the two we want
39:38and by the time they get to you, you've gone,
39:40we're going to have that and that.
39:42I had an instinct, Lord Sugar.
39:44I had an instinct.
39:45Is it fair to say that they may as well have sat and done nothing?
39:48No, I don't think so at all.
39:50The issue we had as a team was the fact that we'd gone and found
39:52all this information.
39:53If we'd have had the opportunity to feed that back to James
39:55and then James took all that information on board
39:57and made a different decision, then that's his prerogative.
39:59But he didn't even listen to anything we had to say.
40:01Fair enough.
40:02I had a gut feeling and I went with that.
40:04All right, anyway, let's move on.
40:06The next thing is that you and Roisin go and talk to the vendors
40:11of the high-ticket items, right?
40:13Yes, yeah.
40:14What did you fancy?
40:15Right, well, for me, the lawnmower.
40:17I chose a lawnmower because it's an agricultural area,
40:19that's what I wanted, a lawnmower.
40:21James, please tell the truth.
40:22I called on you and said you were getting a hot tub.
40:24What? I called on you and said you were getting a hot tub.
40:26Oh, no, no, no, OK, no, no, no, all right, sorry.
40:28I was torn between the two.
40:30We got a phone call from James going, right, that's it,
40:32I'm making a decision, we're going to go with the hot tubs,
40:34and that was the last we heard from him.
40:36The reason I didn't get them loads, Sugar, as well,
40:38is I've saved it till this time to tell my team why we didn't get them.
40:40You wouldn't tell us why we didn't get them.
40:42The reason why as well is because being in business,
40:44sometimes, you know, businessmen make mistakes, OK,
40:47and if I make a mistake, sometimes I don't want that
40:49to affect the rest of my team.
40:50So you lied to us?
40:51I didn't lie to you.
40:52You told us that you wanted to go...
40:54You changed your mind, you wanted the lawnmower.
40:56Because, well, Sugar, the reason why we didn't get the hot tubs
40:58was because I called the guy Derek twice instead of Anthony.
41:01Oh, my God.
41:03That's why we didn't get the hot tubs, and I think it's stupid.
41:06Why don't you turn around and tell me my name's Anthony?
41:08Why don't you pull me up? It's silly.
41:10James told us that he made a decision and changed his mind...
41:12Yeah, I did, because I wanted to keep the lawnmower.
41:14So this is the first you've heard of this?
41:16We're not stupid, you could have told us.
41:18On your application, you say that people have called you Del Boy,
41:21I think you've got it wrong, I think you're Trigger.
41:24You've got his name wrong.
41:25He was the one that called Rodney Dave all the time, didn't he?
41:30Anyway...
41:33..lawnmowers. How did you get on?
41:35It was a tough day, though, Sugar. It was a tough day.
41:38Yeah. I think what we need to do now
41:40is to see how these contracts turned out.
41:49So, Nick, like, show products for Summit,
41:52the mowers, £3,598.
41:56Right, so the lawnmowers went through.
41:58They did indeed, and that's one for James, one for Rasheen.
42:01OK.
42:03Debut products, they brought in £1,159.50.
42:09Total, £4,757.50.
42:17Karen?
42:18Well, the debut products really didn't go very well,
42:20it was just £500.
42:24And as you know, we had to check very carefully
42:26the contracts for the hot tubs.
42:30But they did well.
42:33£30,115.
42:37Wow. Wow.
42:38And 25p.
42:39How many hot tubs was that? Ten hot tubs.
42:41So they all came in? They all came in.
42:43And Mark actually sold seven to one gentleman.
42:46Really? Yeah. Seven hot tubs? Yeah.
42:49That is a win.
42:51Very good salesmanship there.
42:53And listen, Daniel. Yeah?
42:54Look, I know how you must have felt. Sick.
42:56All right, OK, but your team won. Yeah.
42:58And you're still in the process, OK?
43:00And that's what it's all about, OK? Thank you, Mr Trigger.
43:03So, we've heard a lot of fighting talk,
43:05and now it's going to be time to put it into action.
43:07I've arranged a boxing masterclass for you
43:11with the Olympic bronze medallist Anthony Ogogo.
43:14So no hitting below the belt.
43:16Enjoy yourself. I'll see you on the next task.
43:18Thank you, Roshan. Thank you, Roshan.
43:26Well done, guys.
43:28We're the team, OK? That's all what we needed to do.
43:31Play like a team. Easy.
43:38One of you is going today, at least.
43:40Off you go.
43:42And I want to hear from you, Roshan, please,
43:45because... You'll hear a lot.
43:47Yeah, I want to hear from you, I really do,
43:49because, you know, it's enough of this silence at the moment.
43:51No, I have a lot to say.
43:58So, guys, this is all about power and speed.
44:00I want you to punch as hard as you can
44:02and as fast as you can for 30 seconds.
44:05Go!
44:07Who's faster punching? Who's faster punching?
44:09Double time! Dig him in, dig him in.
44:11And time!
44:13How do you feel? I was envisaging Daniel.
44:15Well, guys, this is pad work.
44:17I want to see who's got better takes.
44:19Ready? This is what I got.
44:21Ten! Oh, my God!
44:23Big white hand finish.
44:27That's as hard as the boardroom, that is.
44:29Jam. White hand.
44:31Ten, let's go. One, two, three, four, five, six,
44:33seven, eight, nine, ten. White hand.
44:35Ten.
44:39And the winner today is Daniel.
44:41Oh, it's a magic moment.
44:43It's a magic moment!
44:47Well, let's hope that's the only thing he wins.
44:49He's made a monster. Look at this.
44:51He's a monster already.
45:01I'm the one that made the mistake
45:03of calling the guy the wrong name.
45:05If I'd have told you I made that mistake,
45:07in your minds, it could have affected your performance,
45:09thinking of what could be, what would have been.
45:11James is on a complete ego trip
45:13throughout this entire process.
45:15He thinks that by his rail-eroding tactics
45:17that he's just going to silence other people.
45:19That's not going to happen anymore.
45:21I am 100% going to call James out
45:23on all of his mistakes.
45:25I don't believe that I should fight today
45:27to sales task. Numbers are going to mean something.
45:29If we go down to who sold the most,
45:31who sold the least, I sold the least.
45:33I don't think anybody's in for an easy ride in the boardroom.
45:35Lord Sugar's asking questions about everybody,
45:37not just myself. There's people that are playing it safe,
45:39that have run out of ideas.
45:41I'm not afraid to make a decision.
45:43I'm not afraid to lead, you know,
45:45and these are the traits of a good businessman.
45:59You can go through to the boardroom now.
46:07Come on.
46:19I'd like to hear from you, Roisin,
46:21because I haven't heard much from you.
46:23You know, James comes across as this, you know,
46:25cheeky, chappy, dell boy character
46:27when actually, in reality,
46:29he's very patronising, he's demeaning,
46:31he's very difficult to work with,
46:33and also, James, you don't listen.
46:35You haven't listened through me throughout the entire process
46:37when I've tried to give you some really constructive feedback,
46:39and you didn't listen to the hot-tub man,
46:41because what he was trying to say to you there
46:43was, you don't have the attention to detail
46:45to sell my product.
46:47I called him the wrong name, that was all.
46:49You've undermined me and underestimated me.
46:51I don't, no. When things don't go your way, James,
46:53when things don't go your way, you have a tantrum,
46:55you shout at people, you leave a trail of destruction
46:57behind you and not much contribution.
46:59Roisin, Roisin, you're trying to do anything you can now.
47:01I'm not. To try and make me look bad and make yourself look good.
47:03You really are. I am making very valid points here
47:05that a lot of people feel.
47:07And the evidence supports everything I'm saying.
47:09This is what I question about you,
47:11and you are an articulate, clever lady,
47:13but when it comes to business decisions,
47:15I don't think you've got it right.
47:17And hold on, right, I said I weren't going to tell my team
47:19till the end of the day, after they'd done the business,
47:21they'd done the sales, they were motivated,
47:23I didn't want any distractions for them, I wanted to keep them focused.
47:25Right, OK, James, James, James, James.
47:27Rubbish, Roisin. OK, the thing is,
47:29I have come across situations like this
47:31in my past business activities,
47:33where I knew internally
47:35that something was gone badly wrong,
47:37and I've kept that from them.
47:39And that's what I was trying to say.
47:41Because of motivational reasons.
47:43So my point was, when was you going to tell them, at the end of the day?
47:45Yeah, that was my intention to do it then.
47:47Who stopped you? Myself.
47:49Solomon, you're sitting there quiet.
47:51Is this your mate here?
47:53No, not at all. I think James made a big mistake
47:55not listening to us on the products and not getting the facts.
47:57Because we saw those products visually,
47:59but going with your gut reaction, that's what clinched it.
48:01James made those decisions without facts.
48:03All I'm hearing is James, James, James, James, really.
48:06Sanjay, on this task,
48:08you were standing around all day,
48:10a bit like Wurzel Gummidge,
48:12and all you did was sell three pairs of Wellies.
48:14I think, from a sales perspective,
48:16I didn't do very well on this task.
48:18I've tried to put myself forward, I've tried to demonstrate skills.
48:20I think, on the first task in sales,
48:22when we were selling cleaning products,
48:24managed to upsell to actually clean windows,
48:26and that generated additional revenue.
48:28Not much, though, did it?
48:30Not much, but it showed initiative,
48:32and on the wearable technology task,
48:34I pitched to one of the suppliers.
48:36You didn't sell any of those, though, did you?
48:38No, we didn't. So I feel like I have put myself...
48:40In all of my notes over the last few days,
48:43your name does not appear anywhere.
48:46You don't feature, because you don't stand out.
48:48I showed my initiative by getting...
48:50Nameless. Sorry?
48:52Nameless.
48:54All right. James? Yeah?
48:56Who are you bringing back in this boardroom with you?
49:05I'm going to bring in Sanjay for numbers, for sales.
49:08And regards the second person...
49:15..I'm going to bring back Roshan.
49:17You're bringing me back in? Yeah.
49:19Even though I was the second highest seller and have contributed...
49:22I'm judging it on what I think as a person
49:24who has something to bring to the table.
49:26Are you sure you're not bringing me back in?
49:28Absolutely not, no.
49:30OK, Bianca and Solomon, go back to the house.
49:42You three, I'm going to have a chat with Nick and with Karen,
49:45and at least one of you will be leaving the process today.
49:48Thank you, Roger.
49:55Roshan speaks up for the first time ever.
49:58I like her, I like her style, I like the way she operates.
50:01My only fear is she's left it too late to show you.
50:06Sanjay, you know, was he just hanging around?
50:09It's the eighth week now, and I've got to start removing people
50:13that really have no potential in this process.
50:17James hasn't fully developed into the business
50:20when he thinks he is.
50:22But James has still got something, God bless him, you know?
50:25He fires from the hip and he shot himself in the foot on this one.
50:32PHONE RINGS
50:34Yes, Lord Sugar?
50:35Can you send the three of them in, please?
50:37Thank you.
50:38Lord Sugar, we'll see you now.
50:53Well, James...
50:56..if it's not you going today, who should it be and why?
51:00Well, OK, in terms of the two people sat beside me,
51:04I think one has more to offer than the other.
51:06Roshan has shown some good strengths,
51:08I just question when the hard decisions are there to be made
51:11whether you have the ability to make them or not.
51:13Sanjay, I don't really think you've shown much
51:16about a business acumen and experience.
51:18Based on what, James?
51:19There's maybe trying to play it safe,
51:21maybe not coming forward and wanting to take reins on something.
51:24I absolutely put myself forward
51:26and I do try and contribute to every single task.
51:28I've been able to list things that I have actually contributed.
51:31What have you contributed?
51:33James, I think you want to show you're really decisive
51:36just to show Lord Sugar you're decisive
51:38when you're not actually making sound, informed decisions.
51:41You have to make decisions under pressure
51:43and sometimes you make the wrong ones.
51:45It's about the way you treat people as well
51:47and you have not managed any of us at all.
51:49I really admire your passion and enthusiasm
51:51and I want it to be directed in the right way
51:53but, to be honest, as long as we've been on the same team...
51:56This is all about me again now, isn't it?
51:58As long as we've been on the same team,
52:00bar the big dog name, I don't see your contribution
52:02and I am one of the most consistent contributors here
52:05and you've brought me in here even though we sell the same lawnmowers.
52:08Sanjay, you've been a banker all your life, right?
52:10Yes, Lord Sugar. Yeah.
52:11Currently I work for a bank but I work within digital banking
52:15so creating new things that people can do on their internet banking.
52:18I was really disappointed to hear Nick's feedback.
52:21I feel that throughout each and every task
52:23I have contributed something.
52:25I may not be the best salesperson,
52:27I've never claimed to be the most amazing salesperson
52:29but on a couple of tasks I have shown sales spirit
52:31and actually the leadership and the understanding
52:33to find something unique to do.
52:35I absolutely will show, if I am able to,
52:38that I can put myself forward and show you what I can do.
52:41Roisin, my feeling is that I haven't heard from you.
52:46I don't know why.
52:47OK, sometimes I am really formal and professional,
52:49maybe because of my experience.
52:51I am an accountant and I'm very proud of that
52:53but I've shown I'm so much more than that.
52:55Like what accountant comes up with a board game in one day
52:57and it's a success?
52:59I'm a very creative person
53:00as well as having a sound financial background
53:03and I really think that that combination makes me stand out.
53:06James says in here that you get overexcited
53:09and you can get on people's nerves.
53:11I can, though, Sugar, yeah.
53:12Big tick. Big tick there.
53:15Do you know what, though, Sugar?
53:16I think some people misinterpret my enthusiasm.
53:18I think, you know, I've never had an education,
53:20I've never, you know, been into employment.
53:22I've always wanted to go out there on my own two feet
53:24and stand up for myself and make something of myself.
53:26I've always been interested in business.
53:28I'm in this big wide world on my own
53:29and the reason I'm here is because I want someone like yourself
53:31that's been there and done that to take me under the wing,
53:34give me the guidance that I need, give me that direction.
53:37You know, it's not even about the money for me,
53:39it's about the fact that I want someone like yourself
53:41that can give me that direction.
53:42You know, I've started from nothing,
53:44I'd start again from nothing.
53:45I just want someone like yourself.
53:49OK, I've got to decide now.
53:56James, I see some sparks of entrepreneurialism,
54:01albeit a little bit immature.
54:06You have got a lot to learn
54:08and it's whether I can afford to take you any further in this process.
54:18Sanjay, you've worked in banking all your life.
54:22On sales here, you're the worst.
54:25You only sold three pairs of foldable wellies.
54:29Roshin, you are a qualified accountant,
54:33a highly intelligent person,
54:36but it's the eighth week now and it's not good news
54:40when I haven't seen much and heard from you.
54:44It's a really tough one for me.
54:46I find it very hard to demoralise somebody with such fighting spirit.
54:55But, James, what I want to say to you is this.
55:01Culture that bit of good stuff about you,
55:04then you will go somewhere, you will go somewhere.
55:08But it is with regret, James,
55:11that I've got to have to say to you, you're fired.
55:15Thank you, Lord Sugar, and Nick, Karen,
55:17I've really enjoyed this experience.
55:19Good luck, guys, all right?
55:21Thank you. Cheers.
55:24MUSIC PLAYS
55:29Good luck.
55:37I think I've sent out a very, very loud warning.
55:40I want to see something.
55:42Yes, Lord Sugar, thank you. Thank you very much.
55:47You've done your best. You've done your best.
55:50You've done your best, really.
55:55Obviously, I'm gutted, and I was hoping I'd get all the way,
55:58but maybe Lord Sugar thinks that I might have his hands full with me
56:01and I'm probably better off on my own in the big, wide world.
56:04I'm a survivor.
56:05You know, many times where I've been dropped and picked myself back up,
56:08I'll do that, I'll keep going,
56:10and I know one day, you know, I'll achieve what I want to.
56:17I absolutely kicked off between Roisin and James.
56:20Roisin absolutely found her voice, fair play to her.
56:23Really? Yeah.
56:26Is James coming back?
56:27I think James will come back,
56:29because I think Lord Sugar has something that he likes about him.
56:32Hi!
56:34How are you?
56:36Sanjay, I heard you were a dead man walking, pal.
56:39All of a sudden, out of nowhere, it was a sudden, like,
56:41what have you done in this process?
56:43And then James gave this really impassioned speech about,
56:46you know, him, you know, what he's done,
56:48where he's come from, everything else.
56:50Yeah.
56:51But everything he did, I fundamentally disagreed with,
56:53and it had to come out somehow.
56:56Now, eight candidates remain.
56:59Lord Sugar's search for his next business partner continues.
57:06Next time...
57:07I'm going to give you a list of products
57:09that I want you to find for the best possible price.
57:12£50. That's the lowest I can go.
57:14..gem heists...
57:15You basically just stole that time atop them.
57:17Right, Stephen, let's go.
57:19..daylight robbery...
57:21Unbelievable.
57:23..and in the boardroom...
57:25Someone must think they're being clever.
57:27Whose bloody brainstorm was this?
57:30..a bone of contention.
57:32You can talk till you are blue in the face.
57:34You're fired.
57:38We're back in the boardroom at nine next Wednesday.
57:41Taxi for James, then.
57:43He'll have plenty to say to Dara on BBC Two now.
57:46Here, after the news,
57:47Jason Manford's your host for Live at the Apollo.
57:50And there's exclusive video content from The Apprentice online,
57:53the website, of course,
