00:00It was a special holiday on the island of Sodor.
00:06Bertie the bus was working harder than ever before.
00:10All the engines were busy too.
00:23Duck was waiting for his next journey.
00:27Near him stood a red bus.
00:29But he didn't look friendly like Bertie.
00:32The bus growled as he gazed at the happy passengers.
00:36Stupid nonsense, he grumbled.
00:39I wouldn't have brought them if I'd known, and I'd have had a breakdown or something.
00:43I'm glad you didn't, smiled Duck. You'd have spoiled their fun.
00:47Ah, enjoyment is all you engines live for. One day railways will be ripped up.
00:52Duck felt shocked at such an idea.
00:54We have a friend called Bertie, and he's a bus, but he likes the railway.
01:00Sometimes he teases us about it, but he'd never want to see it ripped up.
01:04Huh, growled the bus. I know Bertie. He's too small in size to be of any use.
01:09Duck took no notice.
01:14That bus is silly, he thought as he steamed away.
01:19At the junction, Duck told Oliver all about him.
01:23I call him Bulgy, chuckled Oliver. Then he puffed happily away.
01:34But that afternoon, when the two engines met again, Oliver was no longer laughing.
01:39Bulgy's friend has come, he said.
01:42He's rude too. He's taking Bulgy's passengers home, so as to leave Bulgy alone.
01:46But he can't, objected Duck.
01:50Bulgy says he can get them to the big station before us.
01:54Rubbish, replied Duck. It's much further by road.
01:58Yes, continued Oliver, but Bulgy says he knows a shortcut.
02:09That evening, the engines were preparing for the homeward rush.
02:12Where are the passengers, they wondered.
02:15Look, shrilled Oliver, look at Bulgy. He's a mean scarlet deceiver.
02:21Bulgy was wearing a large sign saying Railway Bus.
02:28Yaboo snubs, he jeered as he roared away.
02:32Come on, puffed Duck to his coaches, let's see what he's up to.
02:43Duck wanted to pay Bulgy out, but he wasn't sure how.
02:55Then, in the distance, Duck saw a man waving a red flag.
03:00That meant danger.
03:03The line here crosses a narrow road and there was Bulgy, wedged firmly under the bridge.
03:09So this was his shortcut, chuckled Duck.
03:13He tricked us, shouted Bulgy's passengers.
03:17He said he was a Railway Bus, but he wouldn't accept our return tickets.
03:21He wanted us to think railways are no good.
03:25Duck's crew examined the bridge.
03:28It's risky, but we must help the passengers.
03:31Passengers are urgent, agreed Duck.
03:34Duck, slowly and carefully, set off across the bridge.
03:39Bulgy wailed as he felt the bridge quiver.
03:50Stop! he shouted.
03:53It might fall on me!
03:55That would serve you right for telling lies, said Duck.
03:59But the bridge...
04:00Duck made good time and all the passengers caught their trains.
04:06The bridge is now mended, but not, unfortunately, Bulgy and his ways.
04:12He never learned sense.
04:15He's a henhouse now, and his lies can do no harm.
04:20The hens never listen to them anyway.
04:23The bridge is now mended, but not, unfortunately, Bulgy and his ways.
04:27The hens never listen to them anyway.
