00:00Well, this morning, let's talk about the slightly different condition of one of our patients, Nilda.
00:07I heard, doctor, that her condition is that her stomach is getting bigger, even though she's not pregnant.
00:15Correct, Connie, and her pregnancy test is negative and she's always taking contraceptive pills.
00:22So it's very interesting to find out what really causes her stomach to get bigger.
00:28It's not just interesting, we really need to find out what medical condition she has.
00:34Yes, and more importantly, we really need to know what to look for
00:40because there might be something worse that could happen if we don't pay attention to it.
00:47So, let's watch the story of this morning with Nilda.
00:52The 33-year-old Nilda is having a hard time choosing what to wear.
01:02Her clothes are getting tight, not because she's getting thinner,
01:07but because her stomach is getting bigger and she doesn't know the reason.
01:13I'm scared. Why is my stomach getting bigger? I'm not pregnant.
01:17I'm scared. Why is my stomach getting bigger? I'm not pregnant.
01:24It was February this year when Nilda noticed her stomach getting bigger.
01:29The first thing that came to her mind was that she might be pregnant,
01:33even though she's taking contraceptive pills regularly.
01:38My neighbors told my mom that my stomach is getting bigger.
01:42They're asking me if I'm pregnant.
01:46To be sure, she has to take pregnancy tests every month.
01:50The results are always negative.
01:59Along with her stomach getting bigger, other symptoms also came out.
02:04Her stomach and her back are getting smaller.
02:08It always hurts.
02:10Now, when I walk, it's harder for me to walk.
02:16I'm more affected by my back.
02:20I stop walking to stop the pain.
02:24I don't take any medicine because I don't know what to take.
02:29According to these symptoms, Nilda can't think of a connection
02:34to the irregular menstruation that she's experiencing.
02:38According to her, when she's pregnant, she's experiencing an irregular menstruation.
02:43I didn't have a menstruation in February.
02:46I had one in July.
02:50I didn't have a menstruation for a month.
02:54This year, my stomach and my back are getting bigger.
03:00It hurts.
03:02Nilda decided to see a doctor because her condition is getting worse.
03:08I went to the doctor on July 5.
03:11The doctor told me that I need to get an ultrasound.
03:14He said that he'll give me medicine until I know my condition.
03:18I asked for help because I don't have anything.
03:23In order for Nilda to follow her doctor's advice,
03:26she asked for help to get a transvaginal ultrasound.
03:30I accepted the result.
03:33What's important is that I know what's happening.
03:41When did you experience an irregular menstruation?
03:44You didn't have a menstruation in February.
03:46I'm just asking for help.
03:52In order for Nilda to understand her condition,
03:55we brought her to Dr. Raul Quilhemor, an OB-GYN and MD co-host.
04:02He talked to Nilda about the symptoms that she's experiencing.
04:08Is she getting bigger?
04:09Does she have a relationship with your food?
04:12Do you often get nervous?
04:14No, I don't.
04:16You don't look like a pregnant woman.
04:18I always check to make sure.
04:21Is it negative?
04:22Yes.
04:23Based on the results of Nilda's transvaginal ultrasound,
04:27The results of Nilda's transvaginal ultrasound are normal.
04:32There are no problems with her reproductive organs.
04:37This is not the reason why she feels like her tummy is getting bigger,
04:43she has a stomachache, or her uterus is getting smaller.
04:47There was also a small cyst or buccal in Nilda's right ovary.
04:52It's called a fisiologic cyst.
04:56According to Dr. Quilhemor, it's not dangerous and it can be removed in time.
05:02It's also not the reason why her tummy is getting bigger.
05:05The fisiologic cyst that was found in Nilda's ultrasound is not a problem.
05:10It's just normal.
05:11There are many cysts like that.
05:15It can be removed.
05:17This is because of some hormonal changes in a woman's body.
05:21So there's nothing to worry about.
05:23Dr. Quilhemor also explained that the amenorrhea or irregular menstruation of Nilda
05:29may be due to her breastfeeding to her baby.
05:33In complete breastfeeding, she may have menstrual cramps for a while,
05:39or after six months of completely breastfeeding,
05:44after six months, she will have menses.
05:48According to Dr. Quilhemor,
05:49Nilda still needs to understand other tests
05:52to find out the reason why her tummy is getting bigger.
05:57This is also good for Nilda.
05:59She needs a urinalysis to check if her uterus is infected or not.
06:06That's why Nilda needs to see an internist,
06:11especially a gastroenterologist,
06:13to evaluate her gastrointestinal tract.
06:19What is Nilda's real condition?
06:22Why does her tummy keep getting bigger and bigger
06:26even though she's not pregnant?
06:28Let's join her in finding answers to her questions.
06:33Our program is open to those who wish to help Nilda.
