00:00 Welcome back to Pinoy MD!
00:02 And of course, we will welcome our resident dermatologist, Dr. Jean,
00:06 to answer your questions related to health on our FB page.
00:11 Good morning, Dr. Jean!
00:13 Good morning, Connie, and of course, good morning to all the viewers of Pinoy MD.
00:18 First question, Doc, what is the moon in thin hair?
00:22 This was sent by Jessa Tagaro-Cortez, Taipan.
00:26 Jessa, thank you for your question. Let's first find out what is the cause of thinning of your hair.
00:32 So, it's when your hair falls out or gets thin.
00:35 First, it could be your lifestyle habits.
00:37 Do you often get haircuts, do you relax your hair?
00:41 It can also damage hair strands or hair follicles,
00:46 and it can also fall out or cause inflammation in the scalp,
00:49 or you may have an allergic reaction and those hair will fall out and thin out.
00:55 The second cause could be stress,
00:58 because stress can actually increase the so-called hormone cortisol.
01:02 And when it increases, it can cause inflammation in the hair follicles,
01:06 and it can cause hair loss or thinning of the hair.
01:09 Another one is nutritional deficiencies.
01:13 Maybe you lack iron in your diet,
01:16 and of course, it can also be medical conditions.
01:20 It could be thyroid problems, anemia, or hormonal changes that are happening.
01:24 Once you know the cause, of course,
01:26 you can also use hair care products like minoxidil, corticosteroid creams,
01:32 or herbs in serum form that can be used in conjunction with minoxidil and corticosteroid creams.
01:40 And of course, there are also low-level light lasers,
01:43 or the ones you wear at home with lights that can also help grow hair.
01:50 And of course, there are studies that say that injecting the so-called platelet-rich plasma,
01:57 or growth factors, or exosomes,
02:01 there are emerging studies and proven studies that say that this can also help hair growth.
02:09 Next question!
02:11 Lady Guard sent this question to Honey Lou Bristol Balondo.
02:15 Her foot was paralyzed until this morning. It was swollen and it was hurting.
02:21 She even tried to remove the bruise, but it still didn't heal.
02:26 Is there a soap or ointment that she can use, Doctor?
02:31 The first thing you should do is just use a moisturizing soap.
02:34 Because the soap might get sticky, right?
02:36 And avoid rubbing it.
02:38 And we can put the so-called antibacterial creams,
02:41 and of course, corticosteroid creams to decrease the inflammation
02:45 and to hasten the healing.
02:50 And of course, moisturize.
02:52 But at the same time, it's better if the doctor or dermatologist can see it
02:57 so that you can get the right treatment.
02:59 This is the next question, Doctor.
03:01 What can be the medicine for skin asthma?
03:04 And this one, is it true that it's because of dust mites or allergy to chicken?
03:09 This question is from Segundo Z. Arnold.
03:13 Skin asthma, also known as atopic dermatitis, is actually an allergic condition.
03:19 Yes, it's true that it can be triggered by house dust mites.
03:25 And of course, there are different types of food, and one of them is chicken.
03:30 But of course, the best thing is to get an allergy testing.
03:34 Another thing is that some people are allergic to foods like peanuts, dairy, gluten,
03:43 or some people are allergic to shrimps or shellfish.
03:49 So you should really get tested.
03:52 And of course, it can be a medicine.
03:54 But first and foremost, you have to know what are your triggers.
03:57 You have to moisturize and seal it with a moisturizer.
04:00 And of course, if it's red, there are steroids in the form of pamahid or creams.
04:07 And if there's an infection, there are antibiotics that you need to give
04:12 and anti-allergy medications, anti-histamine.
04:16 What's very important for you is to go to a board-certified dermatologist
04:21 so that you can really be tested and given proper treatment.
04:26 And last but not the least, what's the medicine for itching and itching?
04:31 Does it grow long?
04:34 It's not like that, so what's the remedy?
04:36 Blet de la Cruz.
04:37 Blet.
04:38 The most common cause of itching and itching is simple dry skin.
04:44 So your soap you use for itching and itching can be very dry.
04:50 Or maybe you have skincare products that you could be reacting to
04:55 or it's called contact dermatitis.
05:00 For example, you have whiter nerves that you're applying.
05:03 Or maybe your deodorant can be too drying or you're reacting.
05:08 So what we can do actually is,
05:10 those hairs, to prevent it from growing,
05:14 there are laser hair removals.
05:17 So permanently, it can actually decrease the amount of hairs
05:22 and prevent it from growing.
05:25 And of course, it's really important to go to a dermatologist
05:29 because we don't really know what is causing the irritation or the itch on your underarms.
05:36 Thank you, Dr. Jean!
05:38 And of course, to all of you who sent in your questions,
05:41 thank you very much and keep them coming until next Saturday.
05:44 We'll be waiting for your questions.
05:47 [Music]
06:09 you
