00:00Here in Taiwanap, Ibaba, in Alfonso Cavite, the group of women are very busy farming.
00:13But don't judge them just yet.
00:15Because their spicy and crispy food is not the life of their neighbors,
00:23but organic farming.
00:27They started doing this in 2020 when they were able to convince the local government of Alfonso
00:35to form an organization for women.
00:39We were told that we need to put up a women's council here in the town of Alfonso.
00:45Together with the women and power men in their barangay,
00:49there are various livelihood programs.
00:52This includes farming and the sale of organic vegetables.
00:57Here in the town of Alfonso, there are a lot of lands in Tiwangwang
01:01where we thought of doing a project and a program for women.
01:07Because first of all, to help every woman in terms of livelihood.
01:14This is a health benefit for organic farming.
01:17First of all, it's sustainable.
01:20It reduces the farm-to-court journey.
01:24So it's less susceptible to damage to our food.
01:31According to the group, it's important for organic farming to use fertile land.
01:36This is what we use for planting our plants.
01:41This is the land where you can grow diamond, rice, and banana leaves.
01:47All six vegetables are sold in the market and in their barangays at a cheap price.
01:56Nothing is wasted in their crops here
02:00because the excess vegetables can be used for other things.
02:05They make salad and pickles.
02:10Aside from livelihood, they also teach their barangay the importance of eating healthy food.
02:17We use organic farming to improve our health.
02:24Because we don't use any synthetics.
02:27Everything we use here, like fat or abono, is really organic.
02:33According to the expert, it's good for your health if you eat organic food.
02:39The benefit of eating organic food is that it doesn't remove nutrients from our body.
02:48For example, fiber is not processed.
02:51So we get all the nutrients, minerals, and fiber from our body.
02:59Because it avoids diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases.
03:07This organic farm is open to the community of Alfonso Cavite
03:11and to tourists who want to learn about organic farming.
03:16Organic farming reduces the carbon footprint of people
03:21because they use less synthetic fertilizers.
03:25It empowers people to sell their products.
03:31It's also cost-effective because it reduces people's dependence on buying imported products.
03:41Experts often mention the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.
