00:00Get you covered on everything happening in sports and even some sports news and some
00:07sports betting news as well, which is what we're going to start off with here at the
00:11top of the show.
00:12Very interesting lawsuit that was filed by the way, and this is taking over social media
00:18and the internet this morning.
00:19I'm going to tell you a little bit about it here.
00:21Certainly you got to make your own judgment on some of this stuff, especially when it
00:24comes to a person to person lawsuit.
00:26This was a complaint that was filed in the Supreme Court against DraftKings that details
00:31a physical altercation involving a masked man and a plaintiff named John Doe.
00:38On March 30th, 2013, allegedly a man was seen grabbing another man, threatening to kill
00:47a man, a plaintiff, who of course is filing this, unless he paid $500,000 to a gentleman
00:54named Gadoon Spanky Kyrillos, who is a prominent sports betting influencer, allegedly.
01:02It is also alleged that the same DraftKings employees later conspired to change the email
01:07address associated with this plaintiff's sports betting account.
01:11DraftKings has a response saying they have found no evidence of this happening and is
01:15moving to have the case dismissed.
01:18Needless to say, this individual who is being accused in some of this, named Spanky, is
01:26all over social media detailing exactly what happened, giving his side of the story, which
01:31by the way, isn't pretty either.
01:33So for those of you who want to check this out on social media, feel free, we'll leave
01:37it at that.
01:38All right, NBA draft, we're just hours away from it.
01:41The New York Knicks have made the biggest story in terms of a trade on the eve of the
01:46draft as they have made a deal to acquire McHale Bridges from the New York Nets.
01:51The Knicks are sending four unprotected picks, 25, 27, 29, 31, a protected 25, protected
01:59Milwaukee first, a 2028 unprotected pick swap, and a 2025 second round pick for Bridges.
02:08And so he is reunited with his Villanova teammates.
02:11It's like a Villanova reunion there with the New York Knicks.
02:14Meanwhile, another trade in a pick swap between Houston and Brooklyn.
02:20The Nets have reacquired their own 2026 pick, which they traded once upon a time to Houston
02:27to acquire James Harden.
02:29They get that pick back in exchange for the Suns 27 pick, a first round pick that Houston
02:34previously owned from a trade with the Suns.
02:37You following me?
02:39I'm not.
02:41Houston also forfeits the rights to swap picks with Brooklyn in 2025.
02:46And all of this is basically about Houston wanting to use that Suns pick to trade for
02:50Kevin Durant.
02:51Durant has not asked for a trade.
02:53Houston is looking to get better.
02:54Once upon a time, the Rockets had superstars and now they have none.
02:57So they're looking to basically get a superstar.
02:59Does that summarize it?
03:00I hope so.
03:01The Knicks, Oji Adenobe has opted out of his contract.
03:05He will hit free agency.
03:07He signed a four-year $72 million with the Raptors, a deal in 2020 with this player option
03:13for 24 and 25.
03:15The Knicks are still hoping to get Adenobe back.
03:18He missed 76 games the last three seasons because of injuries.
03:22So we'll see what ends up happening if Oji stays in New York.
03:25Also the latest Fever versus Sky matchup in the WNBA.
03:28How about this, folks, 2.3 million people watching Kaitlyn Clark and Angel Reese.
03:35That great matchup on June 16th, 91 to 83 was just incredible.
03:39It was the most watched WNBA game in 23 years.
03:43Meanwhile, the matchup between the Yankees and Mets in game one of the Subway Series
03:48goes to the Mets.
03:49They win by a final score of 9 to 7.
03:52It was the second outing for Garrett Cole.
03:54He gave up a bunch of home runs, did not look great.
03:57Needless to say, Cole's, you know, up against it.
04:00I mean, it was only a second start.
04:01He basically hasn't pitched in a long time.
04:03Also second time in Cole's career he's allowed four home runs.
04:05The other one was 2022.
04:08Cole said that naturally after the game, it was not his best.
04:11What did you make of tonight?
04:13Yeah, it was just disappointing, didn't really give us a good chance to win tonight.
04:21Didn't execute enough good pitches.
04:25Just kind of dug us a hole, so.
04:28What did you think of your fastball in particular tonight?
04:30Yeah, I just not great command of it.
04:33You know, throughout the evening, trying to find a blend of, you know, intensity, you
04:42know, intensity and command, you know, being able to put it, you know, kind of where we
04:46want both inside the strike zone and out.
04:52Naturally Cole will get better as time goes on, but it's been a tough beginning for him.
04:57Needless to say, Aaron Judge, his teammate, not particularly worried saying essentially
05:00this is his spring training.
05:02What did you see from Garrett tonight?
05:05You know, looking at all the numbers, the velo, everything's, you know, coming back,
05:09you know, we got to, this is this guy's spring training, you know, so, you know, coming back
05:14from injury like that, anything with the arm is always, you know, you got to, you got to
05:19be careful with that kind of stuff.
05:20So, you know, seeing him come back and have the velo he has, and, you know, I think he
05:26was executing the location where he wanted, it just wasn't as fine as, you know, what
05:30he normally does, but, you know, he's still working back, you know, that's our ace, that's
05:35our guy, and, you know, I want him out there every single five days, so, you know, games
05:41like this happen, you just got to move on, keep, learn from it, and, you know, it'll
05:45be fine.
05:46Yeah, Garrett Cole, of course, will be fine, I mean, he's won Cy Young's before, and naturally
05:50he'll get deeper into games, but still very early on in his season.
05:53The Mets, meanwhile, have turned their season around.
05:56Everyone seems to be giving the Grimace the credit, but let's give some to the Mets for
06:00calling up Mark Vientos, he's been fantastic for them.
06:03Carlos Mendoza, the manager of the Mets, says that he's just been exactly what they needed.
06:07What for you have you seen in terms of just his adjustments as the league, obviously,
06:12had a little bit of a book on him?
06:14Yeah, like you said, seems like the league was adjusting to him, but his ability to make
06:19adjustments that quickly, you know, and that's the key at this level, you know, you're going
06:24to go through ups and downs, and how sure you can keep those down moments, and that's
06:30what we're seeing here now, you know, that he went through that little stretch when it
06:34was hard for him, and he was chasing and they were spinning a lot, but he was still ready
06:38to hit the fastball.
06:39I mean, we know that every time he puts the barrel on the baseball, he can do some damage,
06:43we saw it tonight.
06:44But for him to, don't panic, continue to trust the process, continue to look for pitches
06:51that he can do damage with, and we saw it tonight against a pretty good pitcher.
06:57Good job by the Mets, taking that game last night 9-7.
06:59All right, now let's get to the latest in college baseball, bit of a surprise as Jim
07:04Schlossnagel, basically reverse courses, said that he would not leave Texas A&M for Texas.
07:11He did it.
07:12He's going to end up taking over the Texas head baseball coach there, we'll have more
07:15on this story a little bit later, but he was a phenomenal coach at A&M, now takes over
07:20to coach the Longhorns.
07:21Meanwhile, the hottest team in baseball remains the Guardians, they keep winning, Baltimore
07:26keeps losing, Orioles have lost five in a row, Cleveland's won seven in a row.
07:29Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who once upon a time told reporters that his inclination was not
07:34to play for the Yankees, seems to be softening in that stance.
07:37Right now, Guerrero's a member of the Blue Jays, so remains to be seen as to whether
07:41or not he would even get traded to the Yankees.
07:43But needless to say, the trade deadline's coming up next month.
07:46So afternoon baseball, ton of games, we've got the Rays taking on Seattle in an hour
07:50from now, Kirby and Pepeo are the starting pitchers there.
07:53Over in hockey, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final reached 7.66 million viewers.
07:59So this was the most-watched NHL game since the decider in the 2019 Cup, Blues-Bruins
08:05Final.
08:06Not a huge surprise, a very compelling seven-game series.
08:10Jacksonville has approved a $1.4 billion renovation of their stadium.
08:15The Jaguars and their city agreed to contribute $625 million to the renovation, and the city
08:19also agreed to pay $150 million over the next two seasons for maintenance.
08:24Also, the NCAA Council has agreed to remove cannabis from banned drug classes for championships
08:32and postseason football.
08:33And also, in soccer, a bit of a scare for Leona Messi for Argentina.
08:38They end up winning and reach the Copa America Finals.
08:40He had an injury scare that he says, quote, was nothing serious.
08:45He was just a kid.
08:46He was just a kid.
08:47He was just a kid.
08:48He was just a kid.
08:49He was just a kid.
08:50He was just a kid.
08:51He was just a kid.
08:52He was just a kid.
08:53He was just a kid.
08:54He was just a kid.
08:55He was just a kid.
08:56He was just a kid.
08:57He was just a kid.
08:58He was just a kid.
08:59He was just a kid.
09:00He was just a kid.
09:01He was just a kid.
09:02He was just a kid.
09:03He was just a kid.
09:04He was just a kid.
09:05He was just a kid.
09:06He was just a kid.
09:07He was just a kid.
09:08He was just a kid.
09:09He was just a kid.
09:10He was just a kid.
09:11He was just a kid.
