00:00But talk to me about Victor Scott.
00:02Well, they certainly could be.
00:03I don't love the spot in the lineup.
00:05He's hitting eighth and Mason Wynn is hitting ninth.
00:07Like, there's a lot of things I don't like.
00:08I mean, if you were to give me the, you're going to give me the pen.
00:12I'm hitting these guys at the top of the lineup and I'm pushing Newpark
00:15and Treris and Donovan down a little bit.
00:18Like that's, that's what I want to do here.
00:20I, it's a little strange.
00:21They want water to get going too, and it's not happening so far.
00:25Well, so far, it's only three games, but only two games for Victor Scott,
00:29but he's also got two stolen bases already.
00:31And that's why we're talking about adding him.
00:33If you're playing in any head-to-head Roto categories, leagues, or even a
00:36season-long Roto league, and this guy went undrafted, and I know that he
00:39did because he's available in 60% of leagues right now.
00:42Victor Scott can be a guy that seals your 30 bases this year, and he's
00:46going to get the opportunity to do that.
00:48The Cardinals are in a retool, rebuild kind of mode right now.
00:52So you're going to let Walker, Scott, all these guys figure it out, sink
00:55or swim for better or worse.
00:57You're not expecting big power from him.
00:58There's a guy who had a 381 slugging percentage, right?
01:01That's not his MO in the minor leagues.
01:04It's the steals, and he sold 137 bases in 245 games in the minor league.
01:09So this is a player that's going to steal bases at the major league level
01:13getting on base.
01:14Again, you can't steal first.
01:16That's the caveat here.
01:17And the hope is that if he does start to make more contact, maybe he does
01:20move up to the top of the order at some point.
01:22I would have win one at least, and maybe Victor Scott at nine actually
01:27will be a better position for him in that lineup too as it turns over.
01:30But the Cardinals will figure out their own way eventually, but this is
01:33a player I keep talking about that I feel like everybody's looking for
01:38stolen bases, you know, because it's so hard to catch up now.
01:41This is a way to catch up because the league has exploded with the new
01:45rule changes last year for stolen bases.
01:46So Matt, to me, this is a no-brainer pickup, and I'm actually surprised
01:50by the roster percentage.
01:51Were you?
01:53No, just again, I think it has to go with just visibility.
01:55I don't think enough people are aware overall of some of these names
01:59that are coming in.
02:00You know, there's just a youth influx in baseball.
02:02It's hard for people that have jobs and kids and lives and other
02:05interests to keep up on the fact that, oh, they happen to call this
02:08kid up, so to speak.
02:10All right.
02:10Let's go now to a pitcher for the New York Mets.
02:12It's a little bit of a more recognizable name.
02:14Longtime fans remember him normally with the Angels.
02:16Now he's with the Mets.
02:17It's Griffin Canning, 28% rostered here.
02:20And again, this is just one of those things.
02:22I don't think anyone's running out to grab an SP four or five on the
02:25New York Mets, but maybe they should be.
02:27Well, they should because the offense is going to produce runs and
02:31Griffin Canning.
02:32I watched this start last night.
02:33He was very good.
02:34The ball was moving all over the place.
02:35He went five and two thirds innings.
02:36That's what you expect probably from a first start.
02:38Struck out four guys, walked two, only give up two earned runs.
02:42He worked out of a jam early on too in that first inning.
02:46Really, I think a very good start on the road against the Houston
02:49Astros where you gotta deal with Altuve and Alvarez and somebody's
02:52other bats there.
02:53So to me, I was impressed and I was also impressed by what you saw
02:56in the spring, which was another Mets project guy who looks like he
03:00could be the real deal.
03:0222 strikeouts in 14 spring training innings, just five walks in a
03:061.16 whip and a 1.8 ERA.
03:09Now, I don't expect those kind of numbers from Griffin Canning, but
03:11if Canning can just be a six inning quality start guy, wins will follow
03:17Griffin Canning because this offense will hit and the bullpen is pretty
03:20good for the New York Mets.
03:21So he's going to get run support.
03:23I like him as a fourth or fifth starter.
03:25And like I said, we're already looking for pitchers to fill spots
03:28there.
03:29I mean, Sean Burke was pretty good in that first outing for the White
03:31Sox, but he is not going to get the wind potential that Griffin
03:35Canning can, if Canning can stick in that rotation.
03:37And I look at what Severino, Sean Minaya, Jose Quintana all did.
03:42And I think there's no reason to think that Griffin Canning can't
03:44be the next project that the Mets have that becomes just a quality
03:48start guy that gives you an opportunity, you know, go six innings,
03:50give up two or three runs, pick up a W, give you five, six strikeouts.
03:54That's a pretty good day at the office in Fantasy.
