00:08Right now when you look at the AL board, you see Tariq Schubel at plus 380 at the top.
00:13But the guy that I'm going to take in the American League is Garrett Crochet at plus
00:16380.
00:17They're tied right now, both of them in most markets that you see.
00:20Crochet a little bit farther behind in some, but I'm not going to worry too much about
00:24that first start.
00:25If anything, I'm going to take advantage of the fact that first start wasn't dominant
00:28because I do think he's going to figure it out.
00:30And the guy that has a strikeout rate that is as high as Garrett Crochet is going to
00:34put up some gaudy numbers eventually.
00:36And I think those, a couple with the win totals and the ability for this Red Sox seems to
00:40really take off.
00:41The other candidates around there are really interesting too.
00:43You've got Hunter Brown, Cole Reagans, Logan Gilbert, I know we're going to talk about
00:47Jacob deGrom, which I think is just laughable at this point.
00:51They've already told you that he is going to miss starts, that they're going to maybe
00:54I LM at some point in the season, just because I just don't see that happening.
00:59A guy like Frambois Valdez doesn't get enough credit of how good a pitcher he is.
01:02I feel like they have to re-saw the grass every time he pitches, because all he does
01:05is get ground balls and get outs.
01:08And if you want to talk about the art form of pitching, watch Frambois Valdez.

01:31team every single chance I got.
01:34So he's never going to get the credit.
01:35It's going to be about the Gaudi numbers.
01:37And I also think with Boston specifically, it's such a giant media market that if crochet
01:41really does take off, the hype train is going to take off with him in that new England sports
01:45writer area.
01:46Also in the national league, Blake Snell is my guy at the top of the board in the national
01:50league.
01:51You're getting guys like Skeens and Zach Wheeler.
01:52Zach Wheeler is a plus 600, but Snell is at plus 1500.
01:56And I just, I don't know what's going to stop the Dodgers except injuries and playoff format.

02:33And these are out on a limb kind of picks here.
02:35I'm going to go with the American league.
02:36A guy pitches out in the American league West.
02:39It's not for Amber Valdez.
02:40Joe, you made a great case for Amber Valdez.
02:41If I could switch my pick, I would.
02:43But oftentimes hitters have said the batter's eye in this particular park is the worst in
02:49the major leagues.
02:50And that's Seattle.
02:51The pitcher is Logan Gilbert.
02:52Now, I understand a guy that's lost out there in Seattle may not get the media attention,
02:57West Coast games.
02:58Most people are asleep.
02:59I get it.
03:00But Logan Gilbert physically, his hands are the size of a tile of glass now as he commands
03:04the mound.
03:05He's a huge presence, especially when he stretches off.
03:08He has a bullpen that gives him great win equity.
03:10And I think the team that has a guy like Julio Rodriguez on it is going to be a team
03:14that cannot be ignored.
03:16For the National League, comes out of the National League West as well, and it's not
03:19Blake Snell.
03:20And it could be Michael King, but it's actually Dylan Cease.
03:23And the reason is, again, the bullpen gives him the win equity.
03:26He has enough star power in the lineup where the team is going to get attention, albeit
03:30they are on the West Coast.
03:31I think they're going to keep the Dodgers honest, but it's the strikeouts.
03:34It's the ooh and the ah of Dylan Cease that I think may command those type of Cy Young
03:39votes.
