Weekend weather 20/06/2024 – Mostly dry and warm – Met Office weather forecast UK

This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the weekend 20/06/2024. After a warm and sunny end to the week, rain bands will arrive from the west over the weekend, so it will turn cloudier for many with a risk of rain. However temperatures are still on the rise and by the beginning of next week it’ll start to feel even warmer. Bringing you this weekend’s weather forecast is Annie Shuttleworth.

00:00It's warming up into the start of next week but before then the weekend and
00:04there is some rain due and there will probably be a little bit more cloud
00:07around over the weekend compared to this week. That's because we've got weather
00:11fronts moving in from the west through this weekend. We'll see a couple of
00:15weather fronts, they will weaken as they move eastwards. The first one comes
00:19through Friday night and then that will be followed by the next one into
00:22Saturday evening. But this first one to start the day on Saturday will be lying
00:26across many central areas of England, parts of eastern Scotland up towards the
00:29southeast of England as well and that could allow a few showers to break out
00:33in these areas into the afternoon. Further west though it should stay
00:36fairly bright through the day, quite a lot of sunshine, fairly high UV levels
00:41still and temperatures still climbing to average or just above average in fact
00:45across western areas. 23 degrees still possible in the southeast despite
00:50cloudier skies. Notice the winds are starting to pick up a little bit from
00:54the northwest across northwest Scotland so it will be a little bit fresher here.
00:57That's because we've got the next weather front moving in. It's actually
01:00going to introduce more humid air and quite a lot more cloud in across parts
01:04of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England and across Wales and parts of
01:08Devon and Cornwall where it will turn much duller as the evening goes on on
01:11Saturday evening. Then that weather front slowly but surely pushes eastwards
01:15again similar to how it did do on Friday evening but high pressure is really
01:21starting to build in by Sunday. So the rain on that weather front is going to
01:25be pretty limited but there's still be quite a lot of cloud around to start
01:28the day on Sunday particularly for these western areas of Wales, northwest
01:31England. We could see some drizzly rain here and it will likely stay fairly
01:34cloudy for much of the day in these areas but as I said it is turning more
01:39humid and across far the further north across northern Scotland or much of
01:43Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern parts of England. The far southeast as
01:47well could still see quite a lot of sunshine through the day and it is still
01:51going to feel fairly warm. Temperatures climbing towards 24 degrees across the
01:56southeast but actually even across eastern areas of England we could see
01:59temperatures approaching 25 degrees on Sunday and we're up into the low 20s
02:03across Northern Ireland and southern Scotland as well. Those temperatures are
02:07going to rise even higher as we head into next week. We could see temperatures
02:12climbing as high as 29 degrees by Wednesday that's because high pressures
02:16building in more centrally across the UK will start to pick up this warmer air or
02:20hot air actually from the south so temperatures are on the rise but will it
02:25last all the way until the Glastonbury weekend? Well you can find out by keeping
02:30up to date with all our latest on YouTube and you'll be the first to know.
02:33Have a great weekend, bye bye.
