Large amounts of cloud and some drizzle for eastern Scotland and northeast England, but fine and sunny for western Scotland and Northern Ireland. 00:00Keep up to date with the weather through the next couple of days, there's an
00:04awful lot going on. The best way to do that of course if you're watching on
00:06YouTube is to hit subscribe. Some thunderstorms in the forecast
00:10particularly across the south, meanwhile much of the north will stay dry and fine
00:14thanks to this area of high pressure that's been with us all week. But further
00:17south things are changing, lower pressure is edging northwards we've
00:22already seen one or two thundery downpours and we'll see more of them
00:26developing across the south as the day goes on. Large hailstones, lots of
00:30lightning and the potential for some flooding from the heavy rain that comes
00:34along with those downpours. A bit of drizzle here and there over northern
00:38England and particularly along the coast and over the hills. Staying quite grey and
00:42drab in parts of eastern Scotland but much of northern and western Scotland
00:47and Northern Ireland dry, fine, sunny, another lovely day here. Plenty of
00:51sunshine across east Anglia in the southeast too but there is a fairly
00:54brisk breeze bringing a cooler feel on some coasts particularly where it stays
00:57grey in the northeast. In the south though temperatures could easily get
01:01into the low maybe even mid-twenties in one or two places, 20 degrees in western
01:06Scotland again as well. But across the south we do have to cater for these
01:10heavy thundery showers that are developing. Not everywhere in this
01:14warning area will catch a downpour but where they do occur lots of
01:18lightning, a lot of surface water on the roads, hailstones also into the
01:24equation so that could cause some disruption. So we have that yellow one
01:28warning in place for today and as the thunderstorms fade through the evening
01:33many places will become dry but the cloud will then spill back in land
01:37overnight over the Midlands and Wales back into eastern Scotland. Again some
01:41drizzle here and there but notice further heavy thundery showers coming up
01:45from the south so there is another yellow Met Office warning in place for
01:49Saturday. Quite a mild night again for most with some clearer skies in western
01:52Scotland. We'll dip down into single figures here but another cracking day
01:56in western Scotland generally on Saturday by and large fine too for
02:00Northern Ireland. Some sunny spells developing after a cloudy start but in
02:04the south again we'll have these hit-and-miss thundery showers developing
02:08again. Hailstones likely, lots of flashes of lightning as well as the potential
02:14for the downpours to cause some local flooding. So another Met Office yellow
02:19warning in place for that. The warning area is slightly larger but again not
02:23everywhere in the warning area will catch a downpour. There will still be
02:26some decent spells of sunshine across the south which will lift those
02:30temperatures maybe up again to 25 degrees Celsius. Noticeably cooler on
02:35some of these North Sea coasts where it stays drab. Newcastle, Edinburgh only 15
02:40or 16 Celsius. Yet again western Scotland could reach 20 Celsius in the
02:44sunshine. Still a few of these heavy showers around on Saturday evening over
02:48parts of the Midlands, Wales, southwest England in particular. So don't get
02:51caught out by a downpour if you're heading out on Saturday night. Should
02:55tend to fade from the Midlands and southeast England as we go through the
02:59evening time. Notice this cloud a feature of the weather throughout the
03:03weekend across northeast England and eastern Scotland and then further heavy
03:07rain coming up across parts of the south during Sunday also. Maybe not so
03:13much hit and miss in nature this is more of a broader area of wet weather but
03:17again potentially causing some disruption and we again have fine and
03:21sunny weather generally speaking for Northern Ireland and western Scotland. So
03:25as I said quite a bit going on where it's sunny temperatures high teens low
03:3020s where it stays grey across the northeast low teens at best. So do keep
03:35up to date those warnings you can check them out for yourselves on the website
03:39and on the Met Office app and as I mentioned for watching on YouTube do hit
03:43subscribe.
