00:00Good morning to you. In some parts of the UK, the evenings have already started getting lighter.
00:06But you'll have struggled to notice that because it's only by a matter of seconds and because it's been so very gloomy.
00:13But it is getting brighter across the south. A lot of cloud to begin with over the Midlands, East Anglia and Southern England,
00:19where it's been grey for most of the week. But that cloud is pushing away, melting away, breaking up to reveal some blue skies
00:25for much of Eastern England, South Wales, the Midlands and Southern England through the afternoon.
00:30A few showers this morning over North Wales. They'll peter out. Showers over Northern Scotland fading,
00:35but only to allow thickening cloud and more persistent rain to come in by the end of the day over the Highlands,
00:40the Western Isles, the Northern Isles and the west of Northern Ireland. The wind's picking up here too.
00:45The wind's not too noticeable elsewhere, quite blustery in some spots this morning, but generally easing
00:51and with a bit of sunshine temperatures still actually a touch below average, six or seven Celsius in the east.
00:56But because it's been so gloomy, I suspect a bit of sunshine today will alter the feel and make it feel a bit warmer than it has done.
01:03For the west temperatures, eight, nine degrees Celsius and actually it's going to turn milder as this wet weather moves in,
01:09which will bring some rain and drizzle to Belfast through the central belt during this evening.
01:13And that trickles south into parts of Northern England and Wales.
01:17So a bit of rain and drizzle here and there through the night, lasting certainly over hills and around coasts.
01:22The wind's continuing to strengthen as well and the cloud moving in everywhere once more.
01:27Before it moves in, temperatures likely to dip away quite sharply over eastern England.
01:33So well down into single digits here. But for the west, temperatures will actually rise through the night.
01:39So we start tomorrow morning, some locations in double figures.
01:42It is going to be turning milder for all then during Sunday, but we'll have lost any sunny spells from today.
01:48It is going to be a pretty grey day. Many areas dry, but rain and drizzle over the hills of North Wales, of Northern England.
01:54And here, particularly over the Pennines and just to the east, some bouncy conditions as we say.
01:59The wind is getting really gusty at times. Those trans-Pennine routes, very blustery.
02:04And as I say, to the east of the Pennines also and getting increasingly windy over northwest Scotland.
02:09So a very gusty and blustery end to the day and also the rain picking up here as we go through the day.
02:16But it is going to be a mild day. Temperatures double digits across the board by the afternoon.
02:2111, 12 degrees Celsius, maybe 13 if we do see any brighter skies.
02:25We do need to watch the rain in the northwest starting through Saturday,
02:29but lasting during Sunday night and Monday and maybe even longer than that.
02:35Setting up what we call a warm convey with the rain just feeding in on this wiggling, waving weather front.
02:41Some uncertainty about the exact position and that will be crucial as to how much rain we see.
02:46But because the rain could last for 48 hours, maybe more in some locations,
02:50we do have a Met Office yellow warning in place because that rain could really tot up to give a few issues,
02:56certainly by the early part of next week.
